- This is the inaugural commute for me on my 2020 Harley Davidson Livewire.
I had taken delivery of the bike the day prior and was keen to know if I had made the right decision.
This bike was planned to be my primary mode of transportation to and from my work. I live around 45km from my place of employment.
From what I had been told, this bike would get around 150-170km of range, but that number may be less if the commute had large stretches of highway. If I could reliably get 150km of range from each charge, leaving me with around 50km in the tank after my return trip, I would be happy!
The numbers:
Start: 100%; 164km range
At work: 75%; 123km range
Back home: 52%; 89km range
When I was at Morgan and Wacker test riding the yellow LiveWire the salesman told me during the floods the chargers were submerged under water and no longer are usable, I asked the same thing about the free charging also
@@alexgoodman698 I only found that out when I tried to charge there, salesman didn’t mention it at the time of the test ride. It doesn’t bother me, I will do most of my charging at home where it is more convenient (and doesn’t take time out of my day), but I did feel like the salesman was using the free charging as a selling point. Did you see that the price of the M&W LiveWire has dropped $1k? I think with the small bubble in the screen it should be $22k, or they should repair prior to sale.
@@BikesBoatsBeesyeah I saw they dropped the price
Still bothered me that air bubble whilst on the test ride
They should replace it under warranty and then sell it
cool bike. Harley has factories in mexico and Taiwan. If they wanted i bet they can make this bike under 6-7k$ . I mean chinese make entire electric cars for 9k
It would be interesting to know the actual cost of manufacturing the bike. They were a low sales bike here, I think there were around 35 sold. I suppose when they start selling more bikes and pay off the cost of R&D the price will come down.
The Livewire brand has been spun off to it's own company, that said HD isn't interested in cheap bikes. They're very much a boutique brand, catering to a certain customer base. Which they have recently pissed off as of late.
The bike certainly feels ‘high end’. I test rode Zero and in comparison they felt a little unrefined, just not as ‘lively’ as the Livewire. I think HD still have a 75% stake in LiveWire, so still very much a HD brand. I must admit, I haven’t followed the HD brand apart from their Livewire.
