Might just be me, but the trains coming out of here seem to have a real zip from a standing start, especially compared to Waterloo for instance (I guess this is due to the overhead wiring and more time between the next station on the routes?). Another enjoyable watch, nice to see a 37 making a cameo!
Thanks EJC, so happy I managed to capture some classic traction here, complete stroke of luck! I’m not old enough to remember them clearly but I have seen some amazing pictures of class 85s shunting. 😃
@@StarlifeStudios I feel old now ha 😂👍🏽 yes 1984 was the 1st visit to Euston - No DVT’s or push/pull then, loco up to the buffers on arrival and another loco was added on the other end to take the train back North. The buffered loco would then be free and shunt out of the platform. The shunting movements alone that day were fantastic 😎👍🏽
London Euston, the second oldest after London Bridge, opened in 1848 I think. Birmingham, around ninety minutes away will be the centre of attention at this time next year when the Commonwealth Games comes to the West Midlands city. Back to the London terminus, just off Euston Road and I went to Blackpool on a railtour in late 2019. An intercity railtour departed from this terminus towards Glasgow last autumn I think and back, stopping at Carlisle for a break before returning. Avanti (formerly Virgin) is the operator and it will get its equivalents similar to GWR's and LNER's very soon, to replace the ones going to Holyhead via Chester being one of the destinations.
I have been there but am in Australia. I doubt it was busy then, or now, due to COVID-19. From what little I can see in this video, there appear to be few passengers on board, regrettably.
@@StarlifeStudios I love trains and specially british trains so Iam glad some people like you give for free their time and work for us to enjoy. thank you
I’ve been to London Euston few times. The Class 221 that Avanti West Coast still has will soon be replaced by the Class 805 (along with the Class 807). And London Northwestern Railway Class 350/2 & Class 319 are to be replaced by the Class 730. At least the London Overground Class 710 are in service working between London Euston & Watford Junction. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_710 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_730 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_805 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_807
Thanks Imperialist! I've been to Euston three times in the last 5 years to film but the footage always turns out bad! I like the station and its trains but the station building itself is a bit gloomy. Hope you had a safe Christmas too.
@@StarlifeStudios True it does look gloomy, due to the design of the station. But the good spots are from when you're on the furthest part of the platform, especially when the weather is nice.
Great vid, but my complaint to Avanti is the way the Class 221s are just plain white, and they just decided to repaint the doors instead. Maybe they should repaint atleast 2-3 units to look abit like 390155.
Hi Daniel, I have thought about London Liverpool Street before but until London is out of Tier 4 Lockdown, I won't been going anywhere near! I have also heard that Liverpool Street is, in general, anti-trainspotters not to mention that it is entirely underground so the image quality wouldn't be great. That is all stuff that I can get past with some time and discussions.
Hi Ebisi, I have recently filmed at Colchester which has most if not all of the traffic Walton -on-the-Naze gets, also, my name isn’t Mark. That station is also within Tier 4 which restricts all travel.
Hi Craigy, I have recently done a video on my channel at Ely and that line is also within Tier 4 at the moment as well so unless something changes, I don't think I will be visiting Shippea Hill in 2021.
So I’ve visited Woking before, they have a lovely team of staff that will be more than happy to let you through the barriers. Guildford is also a good shout for the occasional CrossCountry. I’m also planning to visit Redhill soon as that’s a good place for fast Southern and Gatwick Express trains. Surrey is a quite diverse area so I’m sure you’ll have no issues with seeing variety. Hope this helps 😃
Better to be safe than sorry Gqxz. I've had issues at Airport stations in the past so it would be awesome if you could let me know what it was like when you do go 😃

One of my favourite London terminal stations and very busy as well. Rare shot of the 37 at Euston station. Epic video and season greetings :-)

the west coast mainline seems to be operating almost like a clockwork these days, thanks for sharing

Amazing footage
Great video! I like it!
I'm just curious. It's easy to know where the trains are going but how on earth do you know where they're from?
Do London Paddington, London Cannon Street, London Kings Cross or London Charing Cross next?
Great video by the Way!
we already did london paddington

London overground vs LNR class 350
Hey Mark, for next week's Sunday could you try filming train at Walton on the naze?

Do ealing broadway if u havent already.
Also, what is it with Avanti West Coast being so early!
Just goes to show, its not the trains that make the trains late.. its the passengers!

Thanks Nathan, glad you enjoyed :)

Why don't you film at Blackpool North Station
