- In this video I'll give my first impressions on Operation: Harsh Doorstop, a free, sandbox first person shooter by Drakeling Labs & Bluedrake42. The game is in WAY early access, so its important to note many features (like vehicles) are still coming, but what is there is simple and fun with plenty of room for improvement.

I do hope they eventually add some kind of bipod functionality for sniper rifles and machine guns to reduce recoil and weapon sway.
And I don’t think it’s a skill issue on your end, I think the AI just has mood swings where one moment they are complete smooth brains walking past you without noticing, and then suddenly going full Chris Kyle mode sniping you across the map with a Glock.

People thinking this is gonna be the next squad are sorta right but expecting it to be V2.0 squad on launch are delusional. This reminds me of old squad footage but better and i cant wait to see what it’ll look like once it does reach it’s “squad 2.0” stage
Gotta see how it develops in the future, been trying it these days and honestly I can't get why so many people are spraying hate on it. Give em time boys!

Banger of a video. As someone who's gotten a chance to speak with the devs, and watch their development process I can safely say you've done a bang-up job on researching what this game is truly about. It'll take some time, but the game is now fully opened up for people to hop in and start toying around with to really make this platform shine.
I'd love to see more first-look style videos like this from you, I really enjoyed this one and your perspective on things is fair but realistic.

All shits aside, I am glad that the devs are being open-minded when it comes to criticisms. The game is in a shitty state for now, so both developers and communities shall work together in order to unlock the full potential of the game.

I actually found this game a while ago and when I heard it was gonna be free i had to do a double take, considering the game they were showing. But it has honestly turned out really well.
Haven't heard of this one until now. I think this one definitely has potential to be really great and considering it's a free-to-play game that is only crowdfunded, I think it has a really great start. I am definitely going to be watching the progress on this game. Also that AI sounds quite similar to Arma 3 if I'm perfectly honest. It can be a blast to play with but it can also be a pain in the ass when you get one shot from a guy you can't even see because he's behind a bush

Another update I'd like to see ASAP is auto mod download/integration at server join. Think that's a big one to have. Rather than having to fiddle around with Steam workshop to hop in.

Looks good. I hadn't followed this much, as I thought it was going to be tightly focused on a US/Soviet Afghan conflict - bigger scope looks a lot more interesting.

I find that it needs some stuff like HABs, Rallies and Squad markers/Team markers over peoples heads. Just tiny stuff to get it to the Hell Let Loose, Rising Storm: Vietnam, Squad - Level.
All of which I’m sure are coming, or will probably be modded. Those would be good suggestions!
@@Viper1Zero Yeah, it's just when I joined a couple servers it felt "dead". There was tons of action but no one was talking and I couldn't tell if I was in a human server or AI server.
Both building and vehicles have been tested and gotten working. But they are not a priority right now. The insurgency-ness of what we have now is intentional.

Excuse me, Squad also started small. The game was available in 2015 in early access and game looked way worse than Arma 3 at the time.

I don't understand why the comparison to Squad is not valid. Squad also started as a self-funded project by non-professional developers. Yet when it released on early access it was 20 times more enjoyable than this.
1:45 you must be playing a different game because my bots can't hit the broad side of a barn
AI pathfinding, tactical decision making (for example, rush vs actually taking cover and peeking like in Arma 3) and skill level (their accuracy is completely unrealistic) are the biggest issues so far.
Nope, biggest issues are: missing mod autodownload on server join, EasyAntiCheat, optimization of ragdoll and animation systems for performence.
In that order.

@@mattin5850 That is a good point, his personal expectations may have been high long ago during the beginning phases but once he realized how difficult building a game as good as Arma and Squad actually is actually an unrealistic expectations.
@@Viper1Zero I don't like bluedrake42 as a youtuber since almost all his videos were ( maybe still are) just about how this game which hasn't even finished development is going to kill this franchise (squad, arma etc) because its soo good while showcasing a demo which shows nothing promising and the constant harsh doorstop plugs claiming this will kill the mentioned games because its soo good. This is good marketing maybe, but for me its just click baits hence I stopped watching him and just dislike him overall from his attitude towards stuff like this
