Stars: Jean Parker, Wallace Ford, Jed Prouty Director: Phil Rosen While on their honeymoon, a reporter and his new bride stumble upon a ring of fifth columnists!
Great fun, bodies falling out of windows and multiple kidnappings, all mixed up with the first night of the honeymoon spent helping the police with their enquiries. Thank you for posting
@PizzaFlix!! May the sauce be with you! What a charming film. Being "unAmerican" was a serious charge back in those days, with WWII going on. I love how the pretty lady has the smarts to save the day!
Wallace Ford sort of reminds me of Spencer Tracy. I first noted him in "A Patch of Blue", playing the nasty drunken "Pa" who at least had a bit more of a heart than the heartless Shelly Winters character. Now that I see him in some of his earlier films I find him to be quite likeable and not at all a bad actor regardless of the roles played.
It's the sign of the times, today's crowds are into unicorns and faery tales. CGI crap. No imagine left today, that's what's wrong with Hollywood today. Virtual reality crap, just look how many people has died already playing PokieMon Go.
+Timothy Greene A fifth columnist is a spy or terrorist who tries to destroy a countries morale from within by acts of sabotage. Usually a German or Japanese spy at this time.
I'm sorry, but after watching these old movies , I cannot think of one true actor or writer we have today. All we have are computer geeks trying to recreate everything and leaving nothing to the imagination. Comedians today know they are not funny so they pack each sentence with street language, cursing and xxx rated sexual content, that way the drunk and ignorant will laugh, lol. It's rare , if not impossible, to find a movie rated "G" today that adults would find entertaining. Even cartoons are "PG" at best. Yet here we have all these time tested classics. Why can't Hollywood learn from this. I think the devil took control of Hollywood, lol
Kenneth...if you have a television, there are are channels dedicated to "clean" family-friendly programming. As a rule, they aren't financially successful. Lenny Bruce, George Carlin and Redd Foxx were wildly successful comedians that used sex and profanity in their routines to the delight of millions. Unless you've been living under a rock for the last 50 years, our culture has changed. Movies, for the most part, are a reflection of society and, typically, the dialogue is written so that the audience will understand it's meaning. If a few words offend you that intensely, you will be unable to attend movies, engage in athletic competition, join the military, work in an office or, essentially, interact with any humans. I'm not saying you have to learn to swear, but you need to learn how to deal with it. Psychologists have also found that the use of profanity is an effective and liberating tool in releasing frustration. After all, it you miss a 3-foot putt to lose the U.S. Open...yelling "Oh, heck!" ain't gonna cut the mustard.
@@allanmacmillan7823 I was speaking of entertainment that you can watch with your family. I attend many athletic events , from high school to professional ,with my kids and grandchildren but don't hear everyone cursing and swearing like I was on a construction site. Comedians like Sagat and Murphy play to the uneducated minds. Movies use sex today to get money now instead of entertainment and of course kids are happy with that. We have steadily lowered our standards and we are now seeing the results of that with our future generations of leaders. Teaching grade school children that they can choose their gender, having gender free bathrooms in schools. They saw the results of that quickly in Va. when that boy raped those girls. Society needs limits set ,or it is no longer a society. We didn't have school shootings when I was in high school in the 70's. Yet every pickup in the parking lot had a rifle or two in the gun rack during hunting season. Psychologists are relating this to video games and movies now. Its our own fault. Each generation wanted to make life better for their children than what they had. But we went too far. Children have no morales, no work ethic, drugs are an easy escape. Attendance in churches has dropped dramatically over the last 60 years. Violence and crime have risen at the same dramatic rate. Things were not perfect 70+ years ago when these movies were made but they show that classy entertainment that is still enjoyed today can be made without nudity, profanity and extreme violence. When the bad guy was shot, he fell We didn't need to see his head explode, lol.
@@kennethlongsr4009 I respect your opinion Kenneth, though I disagree. A universal example would be that preachers' children tend to be "wilder" than many of their peers. If you deny people of certain things (sex, alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc.), it only serves to make them more attractive. The toothpaste is already out of the tube. Try putting it back in. After all...It isn't Hollywood's responsibility to raise our children...it's ours.
what a dopey, absurd little film. warning. the last sentence or maybe more was cut out. these films are such grade D. it's so bad, it's fun. wallace ford is always nice to see, even in this inept piece of nothingness
wow i wrote the below a year ago. i must be punch drunk. have no recollection of seeing it before, it was that bad. it was stupid then and it still is thumbs down then and 2 thumbs down now. ford is good enough and beautiful jean parker has zilch to do.
So glad I can enjoy these old films. Thanks for posting.
Thanks again for the clear image and quality sound.
These movies are my happy place
My favorite years are the 30’s, 40’s & 50’s in music, clothing , hair-dos, cars, kitchen appliances etc. real movies.
And don't forget the makeup 💄
Gotta luv the men’s fedora’s and women’s hats.
...and no smut,no swearing, no tattoos, and no body piercing, I love it...
PizzaFlix thanks again for another fun-filled movie. I love watching these oldies.
Great fun, bodies falling out of windows and multiple kidnappings, all mixed up with the first night of the honeymoon spent helping the police with their enquiries. Thank you for posting
Love the hats, love the decor, love the innocence...thanks. Jean Parker is the best.!

Thanks for watching! May the Sauce the Sauce be with you.
In addition to his New-yorkese, he puts me in mind of A. J. Liebling. Thanks again!

Great Picture! Thank you for uploading it.
Swell movie 🍿 Thank you, have a great night
Never saw this one before . Thanks !
Once holding top billing ten years earlier, beautiful Betty Compson was was just a name in the credits.
Yes! And Dorothy Lee had a short part but she did it really well. Evelyn Knapp, my Pauline, too.
💚Thank you💚
Micah - from Rifleman!
I wouldn't have a problem with it. She's got a penthouse apartment and can charge things all over town. Sounds sweet.
Great dialogue! "Double crosser? That description fits everyone I know! ---- "That he's eloped with some corn fed hen " LOL
Great fun! Ya think it cost .25 cents to see in the movie theater? A double feature with a newsreel and a Western. I like the snappy dialog New Yoik.
What a nice movie❤️
On a more serious note. There was a lot of production in this film. Hollywood could do good work!

Good movie!!!
By minute seven there is definite proof he is indeed a wally.
Comedy. Fast paced, not boring but too silly for my likes.
Nice movie
NO COHORTS NEEDED !
These old movies are great..Just that the outdoor scenes are shoot indoors...Looks phony..
what club?
What is a ring of fifth columnists?

Spies, in modern terms a sleeper cell.
was that a sun roof on the taxi cab at 5:42 ??
Tony, indeed it was.
All the better to gawk at the skyscrapers! Many cabs in NYC apparently had them in the 40s and 50s. The board on top would have read 'Sky-View'.
Fine film but it's a detective film, not a comedy.
Good guys and bad guys wearing suits, hats, ties and smoking cigarettes….gosh ….
Oh, no . . . not cigarettes! Say it isn't so!
Mystery
Jean Parker was a honey. But why did she put up with Wally Ford's nonsense. Silly stuff, but why not?
+daniel stanwyck >> Different times. In that era men ruled the roost and women mostly did what they were told. Different times :~)
Lottery scratch
Cute and funny

Did anyone else notice the Kraut sitting at the desk reading the paper upside down @40:11.
Kraut? Smh! When you turn a paper over the other side is upside down.
The paper is folded in half. The man is reading the lower part of the front page.

Wally is spineless.
Wally's wife is way to hot for him !!
"to hot"😂

Story NOT funny.
Any man who would leave his new bride unlaid on her wedding night, I call B. S.
In modern US lifestyle there is not even a "wedding night", but fornication without.
i always liked jean parker but in this she has no character at all
