Most beeautiful creature ever.....and she lives among us..........Aurora , her Love, her magic and Goodness........yup she's here with us long live the Viking Fairy Queen!
… think she is pre viking age.. before Æsene arrived with Odin and Tor … she is more likely connected to Frøya/ Freya .. in Folkvang. There was a time in Scandinavia before the masculine gods entered the aeria … the gods ( god is neutral and plural word- so it doesn’t point to a sex..) we’re vaner ( Frøya, Njord, Frey and so on.) Aurora is timeless
I wish the camera would've shown Silja just a little. Her vocals in Winter Bird, Little Boy in the Grass and Through the Eyes of a Child are so good T-T
Now you understand why this is considered required viewing in terms of Aurora performances. It's well worth the hour long video. Tarkus is a dedicated Aurora fan and always has great recommendations.❤You should read up on the cathedral she is performing in. It has some very interesting history. And yes, you should definitely listen to more David Bowie. 😉
This is THE Aurora concert imo. Plenty others are top tier for sure....but Nidarosdomen is one of those impossibly magical perfect events that is SO good it can't really be put into words. And ditto on the David Bowie recommendation. In my experience, you either don't get Bowie....or you're a RABID fan. For years I admired and respected who he was and what he did, but I didn't actually _like_ the music that much. Then, for whatever reason....once day, it clicked. The emotion, the camp, the theater, the narratives, the characters, the impossibly broad inspirations and references, the post-modern meta approach, etc etc.. There was no going back. I finally _got_ it...all of it. Ended up reading every Bowie bio ever written, seeing all the docs, watching all the movies he was ever in, obsessing over every album. He got his hooks in me entirely....and now I'm both amused and baffled at the fact there was once a time when I didn't like his music that much. >_
What gets me about this concert, is there are so many stand out performances and the quality of each one. It's just staggering that Aurora, can do this live, one after the other.
She has toured many times in the US, 2015, 2016, 2019, a few concerts in Nov 2021, and last time it was a long tour in May/June 2022. Her first US performances was in the beginning of her career in Oct 2014 when she was 18 in NY for the CMJ Music Marathon. She has announced a South and North America tour now in 2024, but since the dates are not released yet, it is probably not until the Fall. I'll let you know in the comments, when they are released. Since you really like "It Happened Quiet" I highly recommend the version live at The Current either privately or reaction. It is an acoustic version with just Aurora and her backup singer Silja Sol on guitar. But it is many peoples favorite version of the song, even though this one in Nidarosdomen is so good as well. Î also recommend her Life On Mars cover on Channel NRK with 4.5M views from March 2016, where she plays an old Fender Rhodes piano herself. The first song "Nature Boy" is a cover of a jazz classic, originally performed by Nat King Cole all the way back in 1948 (written by eden ahbez), and it was made "famous" by the movie Moulin Rouge from 2001. The song "Walking In The Air" is also a cover, it was written by Howard Blake for the 1982 British animated cartoon "The Snowman" that is shown every year at Christmas in the UK and also often in the Nordic countries, not sure about the US.
Thank you🤗👍 Aurora is something else, isn’t she ❤. This is from Nidarosdomen ( a basilica) in Trondheim, which is the grandest church in Norway- we’re kings and queens are crowned. Not many artists are allowed to have consert here- and it was a discussion in forhand. But even the chief cantorist was playing, so when she joined it must have been with out a doubt 👍🤗- Im a old woman from the west coast, living in Bergen ( Auroras hometown) and she is 🥳💃🫶🤗❤️- music, lyrics, performances, music videos, dancing, playing- everything!! She is full package. And I have another one, also from the west coast of Norway- Susanne Sundfør ❤-she started of long before Aurora, and has been also a national treasure. She has also a haunting powerful voice- and writ fantastic music ( much electronic… as well. But thanks for a lovely reaction to this concert. ❤ Best wishes from Bergen,Norway
Thanks, I really enjoyed watching that again with you, Will! 👍🤟 I consider this the best recorded concert I've ever seen, by anyone. From Aurora to the backup vocals, to the musicians, to the lighting, to the filming, to the mixing, to the editing, etc. It's just absolute perfection from everyone involved. Just pure magic from start to finish. No matter how many times I watch it, it never gets old and it never ceases to amaze me. Interesting that your favorite song was "It Happened Quiet," because that was her first time performing it, and I believe it was before the song was even released. She does a lot of vocal gymnastics that she doesn't do in later versions, and I love when she does that. It's interesting to compare it to the more popular "The Current" version, which is very stripped back and intimate. I love them both about equally, for completely different reasons. As you said, she can go both big and small, and be incredible both ways. There were three covers she did here: "Nature Boy" (Nat King Cole), "Walking in the Air" (Howard Blake, from the animated film "The Snowman") and "Life on Mars" (David Bowie -- his original is quite different, BTW).
Very nice reaction Will🤗 And thanks to my fellow warrior Tarkus for suggesting this beautiful concert🥰 She wrote every song except for Nature boy, Walking in the air and Life on Mars. If I could choose one concert to be at, it would be this one for sure😍 I think there were about 1100 people in the audience. The choir (Fagott-koret) consists of gay men. And then you have her band and the orchestra + the organist. Everything with this concert including the production is top notch👍 “Nature boy” is a song by Nat King Cole "Little boy in the grass” She wrote “Little boy in the grass” after loosing a friend in the awful massacre on Utøya (Norway) in 2011, he was only 17 years old. 69 people were shot and killed on that small island and most of them were youths (the youngest were 14)🥺❤️ “Under stars” The press release for the single read: "It's about us. About the people we've lost through time, and how we handle that loss. The guilt of still being alive when they are not, and the hope that they might only be sleeping, maybe still dreaming, under the stars." “Winter Bird” She explained to The 405: "Sometimes you need to be reminded of how it was to feel alive. It's a tricky situation to find yourself in. When you've forgotten about your reasons to live." “Walking in the air” This is a song written by Howard Blake for the 1982 animated film The Snowman based on Raymond Briggs's 1978 children's book of the same name. “Lucky” She wrote this song when she was only 9 years old 😳 Aurora explained the song's meaning to The 405: "It's about realizing that you've been through dark tunnels in life, but still walking forward, both feet strong. We are all lucky to be alive, it's an important thing to remember." "Soft Universe" In a response to a Q&A question, Aurora said about the song: "It actually has to do with love... or the fight for love, amongst other things. [...] I was thinking about people fighting for what they believe in, [people] going in protest together to fight for a better world." “Through the eyes of a child” In an interview, she said: "It’s one of the most important songs for me. It's about, the older you get, the more you see, and it's kind of like you miss the times when you thought everyone was nice, and that everything was nice, because it's hard to know all the darkness. Also we have lots of light, and I know that as well. But it's kind of like wanting to go back to the innocence, and see the world through the eyes of a child. It's a very important song for me." “It Happened Quiet” This actually is a horror story. This song was inspired by domestic violence, she gets killed, and in the end she comes back to haunt him. “Murder Song” Is a song about mercy killing. She doesn’t want to be in this world anymore, so she asks him to kill her. She knows he’ll do anything for her. When he realises that she’ll never wake up again, he will forever be sad. “Life on Mars” is a song by David Bowie A bit about Nidarosdomen: They started building it in 1070 and it was finished in all its glory in 1300. Nidaros Cathedral is located in the heart of Trondheim and is Norway's national shrine - an ornate Gothic masterpiece. The cathedral is built over the tomb of St. Olav, the Viking king who converted Norway to Christianity and became “Norway's Eternal King”. Throughout the Middle Ages this was a towering symbol of religious faith and the powerful position of the Church. Thanks🥰
19:00 the cathedral is shaped like a cross, and she is standing on a plateau in the middle - audience on three sides, and the choir behind her (hence the 'everwhere').
Glad you finally got around to this one! Also yes she has performed in the US in the past. This year she is touring in Europe but I believe (hopefully) after her new album will release soon she will tour in the Americas next year!
Yes, and she is starting with a Norway Tour now. People are actually flying in from 50 different countries to this tour in Norway, which I find quite astonishing.
She does tour in the United States although very limited appearances and usually in major cities. It's been a year or so since she's been here. Thinking when her new album drops she will announce another US tour.
Those of us from the UK that grew up in 80s & 90s will know the original song Walking In The Air that was often played on our TV screens around Christmas time. A magical song from my childhood. It was performed by a boy choir to a cartoon featuring a snowman flying with a boy. Aurora covering it was like a special gift! Original: ua-cam.com/video/upH1QZU4Z0Y/v-deo.html
I would give everything I possess to have been on this concert. It doesn't matter how many times I watch it, every time is I all I'm left just an emotional mess - in a good way. She is overwhelming.
Great reaction video, Will. This was the premiere of 'It Happened Quite' - really incredible. To hear an equally fantastic performance, listen to Aurora's duet with Silja of this song at "The Current" studio recording on YT. Thanks, Will, for reacting to this Nidarosdomen concert from back in 2017. Please have a listen to a recent mini-concert in London 2024. She debuted a new song 'Some Type of Skin' - a killer anti-war anthem. Search for: AURORA Live at BRITs Week 2024 for War Child - Lafayette, London (26 Feb 2024) Also, have a listen/look at a TikTok compilation of Aurora's songs ... which includes at the very end a clip of Aurora rehearsing 'Life on Mars' at Nidarosdomen! AURORA - Tiktok Live Songs Shorts Compilation (4th version)
Yes, often a bit sad or melancholic, but always strangely uplifting! That she can be both at the same time is facinating. Great reactions! Thank you!👍👌🙏🏼😊
Thx for reacting to this... I have seen this concert SO many times, it should be a national treasure in my opinion 😅. Seeing all these live concerts on youtube are fantastic. But when you finally see her live you realize there is a big difference....it is like those fireplace video you can play in really high resolution on your tv, you can eaven hear it, it is rather nice, but nothing is like sitting in front of a real fire, and feel it's warmth... You can FEEL her!
Great reaction, as usual. Have you seen the Winter Bird music video yet? In the comment section people say the song has helped them through depression. It also is an interesting video about how they made the video.
Each reaction to this concert is an important one to me. So thank you for reacting to this. I have seen countless reactors experience this concert overtime and every time again I relive my first viewing over and over through the ears and eyes of the reactors. I think I have become kind of addicted. It is uncanny how her musicality was big at the start and over the years is growing and growing to a new standard in musicwriting, lyricism, producing and performing live. Today I watched and listened again to one of her latest songs, 'Your Blood'. A grower...with each time listened, I just am more in awe then I was before... About this concert. To me every detail, component, each note played and sung fell exactly in their place. Something truly magical happened that night. And it did not happen quietly. Pun intended. For that song I really recommend the live at The Current version. How two people can be in sync as Aurora and Solja Sil did there.... oh my.. By the way, Solja was the female beckground singer at this concert as well. She stood out in the a capella bridge in Through The Eyes Of A Child. I have watched most of your reactions to Aurora Will and I can tell this time it hit home for you. You have not let yourself become distracted by the urge to react, just by letting it all sink in, before you reacted and that is the only way. From the heart instead of the mind. Congratulations. You have gained more than 1 level at once here.
David Bowie Tge Duke?? well you must know gods are inmortal because thy never die David Bowie, definitely an artist of our times super talented unique being I can imagine him getting fucking emotional listening to our Aurora singin his preecious song.
I just adore the lyrics to It Happened Quiet. So much that I got the first line tattooed on my forearm. The line that goes: *_"...ice blew end hall oh...acid reigns egg hence they're Will..."_* Such gorgeous metaphors. A cold icy breeze blew down an empty hallway...as sulfuric acid ruled, wielding total power, suffusing the air with the odor of rotten eggs. Therefore, everyone adopted the name William, or Will for short. It's a story as old as time, told in new language for a new age. I went to an Aurora concert once and showed this girl my tattoo. When she read it, she was speechless. The look on her face spoke volumes. She was very impressed. What?
Nice metaphors, though I always thought it was: Eyes blue and hollow As it rains against their will Feathers falling out of the pillow As if time is standing still
I liked that you said the intro to It happened quiet sounded like the music to a horror scene, because that’s what I think the song is, but I have never been able to formulate something so clearly about this intro. The song can be confusing, and I think that is just the way it’s supposed to be. The more I listen to it, and listen to reactors (especially reactor The charismatic Voice), the more I feel it’s about development of multiple personalities because of trauma. It makes so much sense when you consider the title of the song. I know there are different interpretations (Aurora is also open for that), but my interpretation is, it was the breaking of self that happened quiet.
I found out about the Detroit show too late to get tickets and I was devastated. Now I sign up for every alert I can find. I'm not missing the next tour.
A masterpiece of a Concert. Each song taylored to fit the Cathedral and make use of the available backing. I can't believe you had not heard "Life on Mars" a Bowie special, although the words missed me until I heard Ms Aksness interpret it.
The first song , nature boy is also a cover, from nat king cole. And if you like it happened quiet in this concert, you MUST check the version live at the current . Sorry for my English, im from Argentina 😊
Yes you need to listen to more Bowie, what's wrong with you? lol Can't believe you didn't know that one lol you need to get out more. Bowie, Frip, Eno...all way ahead of their time. Aurora, magical as always
That was epic FUN! Well I've lost track of how many times throughout your reactions that you have said "this is my favorite" but it's gotta be over a dozen times. I've checked on her schedule for this year & haven't seen any upcoming U.S. performances coming but she has done them including Lollapalooza's. If she ever does play here though I know I won't miss it. Life on Mars is one of her few covers & reinvents the song. This in my opinion is the best version of that cover. ua-cam.com/video/kJ095S0MmnA/v-deo.html .
I love this concert, but I find that her voice here was still very high-pitched and almost forced at times. Subsequently, many of these songs, performed in less challenging contexts and with a more mature voice, were better.
Most beeautiful creature ever.....and she lives among us..........Aurora , her Love, her magic and Goodness........yup she's here with us long live the Viking Fairy Queen!

Nice one .Off to Bergen this week for 3 shows
With every smile she shows after she finishes a song, a little flame bursts in my heart.
Aurora ist schon jetzt eine der besten weiblichen Sänger aller Zeiten.
Aurora is already one of the best female singers of all time.
Thanks, I really enjoyed watching that again with you, Will! 👍🤟

“Nature boy” is a song by Nat King Cole
"Little boy in the grass”
She wrote “Little boy in the grass” after loosing a friend in the awful massacre on Utøya (Norway) in 2011, he was only 17 years old.
69 people were shot and killed on that small island and most of them were youths (the youngest were 14)🥺❤️
“Under stars”
The press release for the single read:

“Lucky”
She wrote this song when she was only 9 years old 😳
Aurora explained the song's meaning to The 405:
"It's about realizing that you've been through dark tunnels in life, but still walking forward, both feet strong. We are all lucky to be alive, it's an important thing to remember."
"Soft Universe"
In a response to a Q&A question, Aurora said about the song:
"It actually has to do with love... or the fight for love, amongst other things. [...] I was thinking about people fighting for what they believe in, [people] going in protest together to fight for a better world."
“Through the eyes of a child”
In an interview, she said:
"It’s one of the most important songs for me. This song was inspired by domestic violence, she gets killed, and in the end she comes back to haunt him.
“Murder Song”
Is a song about mercy killing.
She doesn’t want to be in this world anymore, so she asks him to kill her. She knows he’ll do anything for her.

Please react to her song Aurora - I WENT TOO FAR live at Honda stage pleaseee its so magical 😢😢😢

Tarkus ftw 😄 This concert is legendary for good reason 😄
19:00 the cathedral is shaped like a cross, and she is standing on a plateau in the middle - audience on three sides, and the choir behind her (hence the 'everwhere').
Her lyrics are just pretty damn impressive! That she is so good so young says a lot!😊
Loved your reaction =) Attended her concert in Bergen, Norway last Friday. A great mix of old and newer songs, and a magic experience =)
This performance was just magical

Yes, Brasilian Aurora fans are the BEST. Their passion for her is unmatched. I am sure Norway is proud of her but Brasil loves her beyond compare.

If you haven’t seen: Aurora - It Happened Quiet (Live at The Current), I really reccommend that.
She toured US in 2016, and 22.
I didn’t know her until late 2022. She was in Detroit May of 2022.
I found out about the Detroit show too late to get tickets and I was devastated. Now I sign up for every alert I can find. I'm not missing the next tour.
@@GhostlyEcheveria im 62 and only been to 4 concerts. She has to be my fifth ❤️
@@GhostlyEcheveria that show is on you tube just look up Detroit majestic Aurora if you haven't seen it
@@Roy-mw5js I saw it! It made me even more sad that I missed the show. haha. It was amazing.
A masterpiece of a Concert. Each song taylored to fit the Cathedral and make use of the available backing.
I can't believe you had not heard "Life on Mars" a Bowie special, although the words missed me until I heard Ms Aksness interpret it.
Lots of people think she's 'weird', but that's just her Autism 'unmasked'! Lovely voice and spirit! cheers
The first song , nature boy is also a cover, from nat king cole.
And if you like it happened quiet in this concert, you MUST check the version live at the current .
Sorry for my English, im from Argentina 😊
Life on Mars was written about the Cold War between Russia and the USA
Yes you need to listen to more Bowie, what's wrong with you? lol Can't believe you didn't know that one lol you need to get out more.
Bowie, Frip, Eno...all way ahead of their time. Aurora, magical as always
You know for $13.00 a month you can subscribe to UA-cam and not have to suffer through commercials
Thank you very much for this! Have a great day!
Life on Mars David Bowie
I love this concert, but I find that her voice here was still very high-pitched and almost forced at times. Subsequently, many of these songs, performed in less challenging contexts and with a more mature voice, were better.
