Vocals to make the trees shiver, sounds to remind you of what lies in the dark, and then a surprising ray in the chorus. This is the best Blue Stahli to come out all year
Even as the sun pulls us down Offering a heart to be found Feeding on the whites of the eyes Empty as the well kept inside Here The splinter of home Alone on the mountain And fear Too much to atone Is snow on the mountain Even with the loss of my breath Even with the stone on my chest Scattered with the wind and the thorns Falling with the rain of the storm Here The splinter of home Alone on the mountain And fear Too much to atone Is snow on the mountain Here The splinter of home Alone on the mountain And fear Too much to atone Is snow on the mountain Here The splinter of home Alone on the mountain And fear Too much to atone Is snow on the mountain Here The splinter of home Alone on the mountain And fear Too much to atone Is snow on the mountain
Yet another home run from Obsidian, just in a different way than Prognosis, since it's more of a mellow track, which I am more than fine with. Just makes me even more excited for the full album release mid-January.
Bret, this is exactly what we have all been waiting for, this is what makes your music unique. Im stoked for more of this. Im eagerly awaiting a track with a soaring chorus like "not over till we say so" or "ultranumb" in your current style.
"Even as the sun pulls us down Offering a heart to be found Feeding on the whites of the eyes Empty as the well kept inside Here The splinter of home Alone on the mountain And fear Too much to atone Is snow on the mountain Even with the loss of my breath Even with the stone on my chest Scattered with the wind and the thorns Falling with the rain of the storm Here The splinter of home Alone on the mountain And fear Too much to atone Is snow on the mountain Here The splinter of home Alone on the mountain And fear Too much to atone Is snow on the mountain Here The splinter of home Alone on the mountain And fear Too much to atone Is snow on the mountain Here The splinter of home Alone on the mountain And fear Too much to atone Is snow on the mountain"
I usually do not like slower music, but this is just so melodig and creates an atmosphere so well that this is, without a shadow of a doubt, a true masterpiece. On repeat every day!
damm.. bret, nailed it again. thats why im such huge fan of yours. love your music. thanks for the good vibes man.. i freakin love you. you re awesome!!
I am loving this too much! If the whole album will be like that, i cant imagine listening to anything else but Obsidian for at least a few month 3:50 - gave me goosebumps
So Prognosis was about fear for the future, and The Mountain seems to be...feeling lost and alone? Perhaps Obsidian will be a stark reminder of vulnerability...
Yeah, and it comes from Bret's personal experiences. He unfortunately lost his mother to cancer this year, a lot of the songs are about him coming to terms with that. Powerful stuff.
@@adamgreskovics390 He was also very sick, something with his lungs I believe, where he had trouble breathing and lost his voice. He thought he was going to die. These albums speak so much of dealing with your own mortality. The lyrics in Anchor - "uneven breath and fear", and the lyrics in The Mountain - "Even with the loss of my breath", seem to be about him dealing with his illness and mortality and finding the strength to go on. These albums are such an intimate, personal journey for Bret. I'm so glad he got better and is able to use that adversity to fuel his art.
@@adamgreskovics390 he said something about it in the live stream. Said he felt like he wasn't going to make it at one point, and that's why he wrote Anchor, which is a love song for his wife.
Super drums, vocals in the best of your manner. Dramatic-cinematic at the same time.. Makes me fly away slowly and tune up to some cyber punk dark future. Awesome..
Great song once again -- Obsidian is shaping up nicely. This particular song also sounds like it has amazing remix potential, I would love to hear remixes from Voicians, SWARM, Raizer, and so forth. Just like Ultranumb remixes are pretty much all good, this song deserves a few, too. Keep up the good work, Bret!
Can't believe Bret made a theme for Vergil without even being asked to do it. Huge props
It's impossible for Blue Stahli to disappoint. I'm already in love with this song.
True. Bret never disappoints!

This is what I fell in love with when I first heard of Bue Stahli. This track fills me with nostalgia, surprisingly. It's such a masterpiece
Discovered Ultranumb like a week ago. Really uplifting to see that even a decade later you're still creating art.
Nice to see as well that he's expanding his repertoire. Brett is awesome.
He was also part of the group that made the cyberpunk soundtrack
Pretty cool huh? Makes you wonder what else one can miss X3

Very dark. I really like the darkness of this song. Makes me feel relaxed. Excellent!!!
The vocals are heavenly perfection.
The chorus is so catchy it's an instant classic. Love love love everything you're doing 🤘🏻
Obsidian is going to be top tier if every single is going to be like the 2 released so far.
3 if you count lakes of flame which technically is part of the album just released much much earlier
@@drecknathmagladery9118 That was 2 years ago,I'd hardly call it a new single.
Like the 4 released so far* 😅
The sound you hear when the hero's journey is about to start.
Yeah, Bret is a hero in his own right
may it just be one of many.
Those guitar notes in the chorus are pure dopamine
It's a great track, Bret! Got a lot of "Throw Away" vibes in the arrangement from debut album. Sounds very catchy, great work!
Your voice with this tune brings back memories of listing your old stuff back in the day, thanks
The feels are incredible
Yet another home run from Obsidian, just in a different way than Prognosis, since it's more of a mellow track, which I am more than fine with. Just makes me even more excited for the full album release mid-January.
Heck yeah
this is the sound of my dreams of Obsidian coming true

I honestly don't know how you do it, your songs give me feelings unlike any other.
Feel the same
Copper and Quartz were great, but it feels like Obsidian is what I've really been waiting for. This is amazing!
Circle of Blue Stahli? I love it!
You know business is about to go down with the growl at the beginning.
Oh boy. What a piece of art!
Wtf they named large natural elevations of the earth's surface rising abruptly from the surrounding level after this song
ikr like come on 1800s geologists you've gotta be more original than that.
Bruh. They did that because they're all monuments to how AWESOME this song is.
@@MikozdovDamn right!
Haven't słəpt yet, won't be słəəping for some time now. Worth it.

Truly so.
This song is definitly a highlight of this bleak year. Thank you for composing this and I look forward to the res of obsidian
Another perfect song, and yet another instant favourite from this trilogy of awesomeness. I cannot wait for the rest of Obsidian.
Wow this might be one of my favourite Blue Stahli songs of all time
Your music has always had a cinematic edge but you're taking it to the next level with this trilogy. Awesome.
Can't stop listen
Thanks for the late night dopamine Bret. First two songs from the album are great.
This song is brilliant! Heartfelt, deep, haunting... It repeats itself in my head.
I shivered a lot when cleans, sick !!!
Loving the different vibes here so much. Can't wait for the whole album Bret! You've done brilliant work with this trio!

I just realised the light and shadow inside the shape of the sarcophagus isn't random...
It's a skull.
Omg yes beat my head into oblivion with those heavy tribal drums
I liked prognosis a lot but this here is some outstanding work.
Aaaaand Blue has done it again! Killing it man! Just freaking killing it all. Your beat murderer. Forward into the future of art!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This really does bring back some original sounds in his earlier pieces. Love it
You are so insanely talented! I love you so much, truly one of the greatest artists to exist. This is industrial heaven
i dunno what's better, his vocals, powerful yet gentle, or the beat that hits hard and doesn't really let up.
I usually do not like slower music, but this is just so melodig and creates an atmosphere so well that this is, without a shadow of a doubt, a true masterpiece. On repeat every day!
That sounds soooo good... how is it possible to be so perfect
Yes.
Bret's voice shimmers into the stratosphere with elegance here..
You don't just hear his soul, but feel it as well. - True artistry

Those points and the unfortunate split from FiXT and Klayton, who seemed like the best of pals. Hope they are in somewhat decent terms still...
Wow That's Sick love it
