Yes 🙌 But here the purpose was to show how dictionary override works , how someone can take a field from parent table and change the behaviour based on that from dictionary option 🤓
I made a extensible table from task, same condition I have followed as you did in video. I made address field mandatory from laptop table (as expected it is mandatory in incident table as well) then I disable the mandatory option from laptop table but it doesn't disable mandatory in incident table. My ques is If made mandatory from one table it goes mandatory in all the tables but when I disable that option, should I have to disable from each and every table that is part of that extensible table or it just a new case or glitch in my machine. (I was expecting if I disable, it will disable from all the tables.)
So after reading this what I understood is You have created a Laptop table which is extended from Task table.. So I dont understand if you make address field mandatory in laptop table hows its gonna be same in Incident table? Can you again explain your question brother ?😄😅
@@techwithpri I was expecting if B is extended from A then A would be the parent and B would be the child, now If I perform any action on A, that will apply on B also but when I retrieve that action from A that would be retrieve retrieved from B also. I don't know if it is common behaviour or not if I take any action on A that it would apply on B or not but in my case it applied, but when I tried to take back that action, I suppose to retreive it one by one from both the points. Or just tell me what's its common behaviour. Now I tried to simplify my ques as much as I can, pls understand this time😅
Hey 👋 Well it depends on your needs buddy !! If you want to use a field which is already present in the task table then no need to create a new field you can use dictionary override 🤓
Hey Pri, just a question, I just booked in for CSA exam for 25th April because there is a 2 week blackout period for UTAH rollout. Will the exam after the 2 week period not be relevant for Tokyo release anymore?
Hi .. I don't think the syllabus will change on 25th, as there is not message from servicenow itself. However I would try to talk with few people today to give you the latest update. All the best for your exam!!
Hi pritham, As you said mandatory is ok. But i am created a new custom table with extension of task table. So i will use state feild into my custom table. So after changing the choices and save its not saving. So what is the option in override i cant find
Hey !! Just go to form design and select the settings icon on the State field and add different choices and then save it. You should be able to see it in your custom table 🤓
Hi Pritam, I understand the dictionary overide, but can't we do the same thing by going to the Laptop table form, right click on the Home address field, select configure dictionary and just make it mandatory?
Hey !! See dictionary override is something which would help you to override the existing behavior of the field and change it based on your needs. Here I have shown you a basic example, but you can do lot more advance thing using reference qualifier 😀
you can goto simple form design and there you can make the field mandatory for laptop issues form
Yes 🙌

Hi pritam, shall we apply dictionary override on incident table as it was extended from task?
