    i grew up in kalamazoo and when i found this channel i almost exploded with joy cuz i went to the air zoo all the time as a kid. keep making videos pls i love this sm

    Outstanding engineering for that time, when I wasn't even born yet... I was lucky to see one of these at Smithsonian Uzvar at DC. Now eager to visit Air Zoo

    Ive seen 18/30 of the remaining SR-71 family of planes with this one being second on my Blackbird bucket list only behind the YF-12

    This is just amazing to think these planes were designed and first flown in 1963. Great video thanks for sharing.

      Indeed. He asks why it's not a glass cockpit at the end, and I'm thinking to myself "Cause ICs literally didn't exist?" So incredible. This is such a good walkthrough, too.

      First question was about pilots selection requirement being married, & 2nd Q was about difficulty in refueling

      The rumor is all SR-71 pilots had to be married as there was a less likelihood chance the pilot would deflect to a communist country like Russia since they would be less likely to leave their wife and family. Looks like that rumor has been put to rest in this video.
