Seven years of feeling rubbish constantly telling the GP that I haven't felt right since I started the menopause. Told I needed antidepressants 🤔 and all the time it was menopause symptoms they didn't listen. Finally had enough of feeling rubbish, dizzy shaky bad mood, lack of joy, palpitations etc.i finally had a chat with the menopause nurse at my surgery and agreed to start oestrogen/progesterone patch this week already fuzzy head feeling has gone. I was passed onto Nurse as GP said not his speciality (why not) After watching numerous UA-cam videos I actually felt more informed than the Nurse this can't be right. Thank you for informing women it all makes so much sense now. 👍

This should also be taught in high schools when you learn about the reproductive system in women. Us women are not taught about this at all. I was put on anti depressants at 44 when I was suddenly hit with anxiety and depression and also an undiagnosed hypothyroidism. The Gp never tested any of my hormones to see why I felt so awful. I only ever suffered previously with post natal depression. Clearly there was a hormone related reason for this again in my life when life was going good. It took 8 years to come off antidepressants at the age of 52. I was tested and diagnosed with hypothyroidism. It took 5 months abscence of periods and a return of menopause symptoms that led me to see a gynaecologist. She finally prescribed me bio identical hormones after the Gp refused them offering me different antidepressants instead. I am due to start them soon and cannot wait to get the old me back aswell as protecting my bones and heart. Us women live longer now and the health risks of going without vital hormones for half our lives is a major health risk. GPS especially men need refresher training in understanding the need to boost are hormones when they are declining.

People are actually dying more now then 15 years ago. Its actually being reversed. You ever hear of the opioid crisis raging in the States? Not to mention the disgusting food all processed and poisoned. GMO= Bayer= Monsanto. Everyones endocrine system is skewed because of the hormone disruptors in our environment.

All the doctors in the state were too busy with emergencies. I was too scared of submitting myself to medical procedures for fear of catching covid and dying.. Menopause symptoms were horrid too. But I returned home and did my own research. Im fine now. But i struggle with weight and I keep it off with intermittent fasting and exercise.

Early onset menopause is FAR more common than realized.
Its maddening & heartbreaking when I approached the traditional medical community and was told I LOOK Good and am too YOUNG to experience what is now referred to as Peri or PRE Menopause. I was in my early thirties when my body betrayed me in so many ways and I blame the Birth control pill for screwing up my hormones initially. Preventing pregnancy should not blow up or bomb your hormones indefinately, so saddening and maddening 😰

This makes me wonder if menopause is actually my issue. I am dealing with mood swings, depression, anxiety, extreme fatigue, etc. But on top of having a hysterectomy, I have to take tamoxifen which further rids my body of estrogen. I can’t take anything to help with the menopause because it could make the cancer come back-however, I think I would rather take the risk of stage 4 cancer (and dying) than dealing with these mental health issues and ideations.

However, the anxiety is just awful and taking its toll on me, my hubby, and my kids. I've been taking natural supplements which have we been helping but coming up to my period and during it seems like nothing helps. I'm still looking for the right help. For anxiety, deep belly breaths. Also holding the breath in and out for three seconds. For example, inhale and fill your lungs, hold the breath in three seconds, exhale and empty your lungs then hold the breath out for three seconds. Do eight times every day. An anxiety expert gave me that breathing exercise! Also cut out all caffeine and alcohol!! They both increase anxiety, studies have shown. Moderate exercise also helps. I mean moderate intensity. But doing it often is helpful!

Please don't come on here being rude and disregarding of our menopause specialists , who are, in point of fact passionate about relieving women's suffering at their most vulnerable times. From your name, I am assuming you are male. So, working on that assumption you have absolutely no clue what women go through. Unregulated hormones can be really problematic. @@yasmindavidson5171 Point Taken. And I wasn't being Rude. I was just emphasizing the fact that you are doing your HRT for women backwards and you are condemning possibly millions of Brits or other women watching from around the world, very preventable bone disintegration as well as muscle wasting for many women and as well as the mood boosting that comes from when women have adequate levels of progesterone and testosterone which many menopausal women do not have. I never said that women may not need estrogen supplementation. But if you don't get the order of testing and treatment done properly and in the right order....you are just condemning women to much more pain and misery. If you think it's too expensive because of "unregulation" then regulate it and make the progesterone creams and testosterone therapies standard for women and start using it. But I don't think you will because your doctors that do hip replacements; for example; would hire the italian mafia to break your kneecaps. That is metaphorical...but you are in a hopelessly compromised situation with HRT. (So in some ways I feel for you). But in other ways...you are promoting lies and misery. I'll come back here and just delete all my messages....you don't want the truth anyways or are afraid of much stronger political forces . Please get in touch with your doctor. Also if you’re on Facebook or similar then join a menopause group. You will see how many of us feel like that. You’re not mad but hormone changes can make you feel that way and lose touch with who you are. It’s a horrible feeling so please speak to someone and get help. The lack of joy is awful and I think becoming insular is one of the symptoms. Good luck, please do this for yourself, you can feel so much better.

Hi Sharlene, Elizabeth has offered some very helpful advice below - you might find it helpful to speak to a doctor that specialises in the menopause. There is also lots of support available online, you can get the very latest overall menopause information and advice at www.menopausedoctor.co.uk. You can also download Dr Newson's 'balance' menopause app on Apple Store or Google Play or at www.balance-app.com which will help you track your symptoms, access personalised expert content, share stories and more. Best wishes.

I am in perimenopause and I think I am now getting into internet shopping and buying things for myself. I was never in the habit of doing this, but I am now having this internet shopping habit. Maybe I feel I have missed out on certain things and now I want to do it.

Me too. I tried a few types of hrt and they didn’t help/made me feel worse. Nhs provision for menopausal women is shockingly lacking. At the moment I’m winging it and doing lots of exercise, eating healthily, etc, but nothing really helps and I’m suffering from low mood and anger a lot of the time.

It's sad that these National Menopausal conferences of doctors do not know about anything except estrogen and synthetic progestins (like medroxyprogesterone-acetate).
They are either ignorantly or on purpose (for profit) keeping women in the dark about the right way of doing HRT.
Bad mood / Low Mood can often be fixed by just putting on 50 mg of natural progesterone cream on the skin every day. (you should be able to buy that online0
Of course many women also have problems with very low testosterone. If your testosterone level is like

Hi Jocelyn, it may be that your type or dose of HRT needs adjusting. You may find it helpful to take a look at the resources on Dr Newson's website: www.menopausedoctor.co.uk

It could be your HRT doctor doesn't look at things like testosterone, natural Progesterone, DHEA and pregnenolone. Get these 4 balanced first before adding estrogens (which you still might need) and absolutely get off of any non-bioidentical synthetic hormones like megastrol, medroxyprogesterone-acetate, spironolactone and levonorgestrel and get that crap flushed out of your body. Also; do not take oral hormones except maybe for hydrocortisone for some things like adrenal fatigue and some others (but that is a rarity compared to what most menopausal women need ). Oral Steroidal Hormones that you swallow are like playing Russian roulette with your liver. 95+% of the steroidal hormones taken orally will stress your liver and that is something you don't want in older age. Plus the metabolites of oral hormones can themselves disrupt you hormone balance...but your standard doctors don't know or won't tell you that.

Use the gel forms, they do not affect the liver. They bypass it.

I thought a vegan diet would help, but no amount of raw plant based diet or exercise (in my case, yoga) can bring your ovaries back to life. You need hormones.
