WOW! I have been looking for this video. I remember this when I was a kid. Those 2 men should be wearing hair & beard nets when working with food products. The 2 women look great with the bandana's on there heads and the only thing they need to go along with them is overalls! I too like all the other videos on recycling paper, bottles, and how crayons are made.
Another well intention Sesame Street short film from the 70's that had the opposite effect: every time this aired I wouldn't eat cheese for like a week.
it looked more like the consistency of water that they were pouring in when they said it was rennet...I wonder how it gets from a lining of stomach to that watery stuff?
Some kids did back then, or they had a perpetually stuffy/runny nose that affected the way they talked. Plus, the voice sounds much younger than the girl we see.
They showed how cheese is made on Reading Rainbow. It was taped at a Minnesota farm. And Levar Burton remarks that cooked curds are kinda like scrambled eggs.
For cheese, the reason why there are holes in Swiss cheese, is because it's injected with a bacteria that produces bubbles of CO2, and when somebody touches the cheeses, the bubbles become holes.
In fact, in York County, PA, some dairy farmers feed their vacas (Spanish for "cows") approx. 4 lbs. of Hershey's kisses & Reece's pieces annually for extra butterfat, which means higher profits for the farmers.
Is it me or did the kid start out looking like a boy and then suddenly turn into a girl at the end? Never underestimate the power of cheese...apparently.
Aww man... i remember watching this on my old Sony Trinitron TV... 😂 those days are were priceless
God, how I miss this Sesame Street! My childhood education was awesome!
Me too,Sheila
I LOVED watching this as a Kid!! Made me SOOOOO Hungry!!
i used to take a finger nail brush and comb it across the surface of the bath water, pretending to make cheese as a kid XD
ME TOO! And wrap blocks in face cloths and pretend we were pressing cheese.

i remember this one! oh, the memories... thanks! :-)
I adore this segment, to the moon and home again, so much it's coming out of my ears!
I thought I saw every single "how it's made" on old-school Sesame Street, but this is totally new to me.
Ohhh yeah! I remember this...and my young love for cheese!
This was one of my favorite shorts on sesame street!
me too..i saw myself in front of tv(my kids)..so fast it happens
the kid must be a cheese master by now
No, just a total ""Muenster"-osity"!!!
In the nursery rhyme of Little Miss Muffet, the "curds and whey" is basically cottage cheese.
0:30 Today we're going to make some happy little cheeses.
LoL Bob Ross😆
Crowley Cheese in Vermont…still in business, baby!
I always wanted to make cheese because of this. It looked like sooo much fun.
Me too!!
Well, you can def. say, "So far, so "Gouda"!!!"
Another well intention Sesame Street short film from the 70's that had the opposite effect: every time this aired I wouldn't eat cheese for like a week.
What a great sketch that takes me back to my childhood.
I love this sesame street shorts, the milk-making also and the pinball, so classic, thank u to the uploader
I remember this from when I was a little girl in the 80s. Love it even as an adult 👩 I love cheese 🧀
If you couldn't tell by the label at 3:01, this was filmed at the Crowley dairy farms in South Central New York, near Binghamton.
Are they still around
@Michael Kingon I bet that girl is now the owner of the Company
I wonder what kind of cheese's making.
@@ameliadiaz8040 Cheddar, obviously.
So on a scale from 1 to ZZ Top, how hairy were these cheeses since nobody was wearing gloves, hairnets or beard nets?
I wonder how many arm hairs are incorporated into the cheese after the communal kneading
it looked more like the consistency of water that they were pouring in when they said it was rennet...I wonder how it gets from a lining of stomach to that watery stuff?
I always get a hankering for a bite of cheese when I see this
this is my faaaaaaaaaaavorite.
That girl (yes girl) sounds like she's crying while she's talking.
Some kids did back then, or they had a perpetually stuffy/runny nose that affected the way they talked. Plus, the voice sounds much younger than the girl we see.
tpirman 1982,You're right this is from 1971.
They showed how cheese is made on Reading Rainbow. It was taped at a Minnesota farm. And Levar Burton remarks that cooked curds are kinda like scrambled eggs.
I believe THIS is the very RR ep you refer... ua-cam.com/video/9hGN1QOdS1k/v-deo.html
Does Geordie used the whey to power the "D"s warp core? 🖖🏼
I remember my sister and I would fight all day about if she was a boy or girl. LOL.
Nowadays you still wouldn't know. lol
I love this video of how they make cheese
There is a documentary on a Vermont cheesemaker on YT somewhere - yet I remember this sketch.
Me encanta esta episodio 😊
I watched a more recent (non-Sesame Street) version of how cheese is made and apparently, they still don't! =P
This is one CHEEZY VIDEO 🤣🧀
This kid sounds like Marcel the Shell With Shoes On!
It's the digestive juices extracted from the stomach.
I agree with you Hadra568, this kid does sounds terrified. What year was this from?
This is the bit I'll always remember!! And the one about the glasses. What year was this episode?
we are kids without smartphone tht time..same channel on tv,same opinion, same reason..
Hope they don't sneeze while they're doing that.

A Vermont Original since 1824.
travellingincog :There is also videos on youtube of recycling cans and making paper.
I guess you can say that they've created a "muenster". Har, Har!!!
You’re really milking this, aren’t you? Don’t have a cow if that wasn’t amoosing, I’ll see myself out!
@@dragondancer1814 ""Cow"-abunga!!!"
@@danaabel1049 And that’s no bull!
@@dragondancer1814 They should've made this sketch into a ""moo"-tion picture"!!!
@@danaabel1049 That would be “udderly” fascinating and funny at the same time!
I wonder how the process has changed from then. And the guy with the tro would probably have to wear a hair net now.
The fleck in the milk at 0:07 always bothered me.
That guy would have been a good fit for Boston.
I don't think that's any of your "beeswax". Ha, ha, ha!!! Get it?? Because candle wax is made from bees??
I wish I could have some of that cheese. What kind of cheese is it?
"Crowley", & they do have it in the markets. I know, b/c I've had some before.
..except Crowley Dairy never made cheese?
I always thought that this was at Crowley Cheese Factory in Southern Vermont.
It is-in fact, Mike Rowe was at this very same factory in “Dirty Jobs!”
Amo los lugares de fabrica 😊💋
I'm guessing that's American Cheese at the end?
they're not wearing gloves
or hair nets
@@Spawnfreak Those hats they wear are like hairnets
I like how there's either a fly or dirt in the milk when the guy's milking the cow :(
GOSH is this from like 1975 or something?
Candles are made is Mr.Rogers.
too bad cheese isn't made this way anymore
Yes, it is, b/c WI & NY has tons of dairy farms, & some of them do work the old ways, like in the video.
Some farms still do it "old school" especially when making smaller batches of cheese
In fact, in York County, PA, some dairy farmers feed their vacas (Spanish for "cows") approx. 4 lbs. of Hershey's kisses & Reece's pieces annually for extra butterfat, which means higher profits for the farmers.
Also, in Switzerland, they inject a special brand of bacteria into their cheese to produce CO2 bubbles. That's why there are holes in Swiss cheese.
As for blue cheese, what gives it its bluish appearance is mold.
I thought that guy with the afro and the beard looked kind of like Bob Ross.
"Happy cheese....happy cheese...."
That was one androgynous child! 😆
yeah I know this one!
Cheddar cheese 🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀
does anyone know which episode of sesame street this is from?
These clips were added to multiple episodes.
I know. Same here. 0.o
and then the teletubbies say "AGAIN! Again Again!"
If you'll pardon the expression, this whole skit was pretty ""cheese"-y".
Still had a Gouda time though.
Why cn't he put how its made?
It gets drained out.
the narrator kid sounds terrified
@Joekitteh LOL Me too!!!
Is it me or did the kid start out looking like a boy and then suddenly turn into a girl at the end?

No joke and this is just out of curiosity but, I've always wondered if that's a boy or a girl. I'm leaning towards girl.
That is a girl, trust me.
@@sweetlife031 well good job

A girl. She has on a pink shirt when it shows her tasting the cheese (and liking it) :)
The woman at 2:30 looks like she either belongs to a cult or a statue in some kind of creepy exhibit
3:02 I seem to recall that Colby has a stronger yellow colour, j/w
Crowley Cheese is made in Vermont.
Yes, Mt. Holly, VT
@@amandaenola I'm going to find out about Crowley Cheese from Vermont in this film on Sesame Street. A Future Made in America.
Is dipping them in was necessary?
@eight6sevenfive3oh9 no gloves either
And the guy with the fro & beard has no hairnet.
some of these comments are just plain goofy
Now Miss Muffet ate Curds and Whay
now im 31..so sweetttt🥰😍🤩
3:02 is he cutting the cheese?
Yes that is a girl at the end.
I bet that cheese had plenty of hair in it.

French Blue Cheese
It probably stinks in that place during the process.
TG Gainey Productions Well, what causes the stench in some "Fromages" (which is "Cheese" in French), like "Limburger", is bacteria.
Shouldn't the dude in this clip be wearing a hair net ?? He's got Covid hair/beard !! :-P
That sounds like a girl ?
I think the boy in this film was believed to be born 1963.
Actually, not so much Bob Ross. More like Mandy Patinkin in 'Yentl.'
I thought they have to cook it too.
i volunteer to cut the cheese
I always thought curds were middle eastern freedom fighters.
That's spelled differently -- w/ a "K", not a "C".
Funny what a difference a single letter makes.
Circa 1971
Surely they used up all the milk hey
turn on close caption.....WTF!
OMG!!!
It takes a couple hours for the kids to form haha!
Cheese is made from the Kurds... omflmfao
