Big Mike! Just letting you know, yall sound almost identical in yalls videos. I had to keep checking to see who I was watching 🤣 thanks to ysll both for sharing god bless
Sweet Yadkin. I appreciate all the quartz points you find as well. They give me an historical reference for my own excercises in knapping quartz. Thanks for sharing your excursions and finds.
You got to be real desperate or very determined to work quartz we find. A few here in colo but only if there is not much flint or chert we have no shortage of any of the three and the quartz points we do find are just functional not pretty and they look like they were hard to make
@@lairdhaynes1986 you should definitely use the baton and punch method I've only knapped a little but where I live in colo is close to crystal peak lots of different Crystal's lots of quartz there is a variety of quartz called a marker diamond it's almost clear and much easier to work I've used my rock hammer on some big quartz boulders correction tried to use my rock hammer virtually no effect it's just to hard how comes dont you procure some texas flint or somthing more workable if you want I'll send you some colo flint and jasper for free just say so and I'll mail it general delivery or somthing to protect your privacy can also part with some elkhorn mallets and some deer antler if needed no strings attached
@@danielcline7413 I did start buying some quality rock this summer. I've got a box of Keokuk and two sizes of indirect punches. Ive definitely found the clearer and more crystalline the quartz the easier it is to knap and I've managed to get some decent points. As far as spelling big flakes from quartz, it seems you need a big hammerstone and to hit the core hard. I still have room for improvement but I think learning with quartz was a good way to go even if difficult.
Awesome intro Jeff! If you're having a dry spell I'm in a drought lol! Nice finds and interesting comments on the hammer stones. I'm with you on the salting of sites with modern pieces. I fail to see the humor in it. Man that Yadkin is a screamer! Congratulations on your finds and continued good luck my friend.
Love the new introduction ! Always enjoy your videos , there are many hours that goes into collecting to film what we do . I've had people say something about how many arrowheads we find , they don't get to see all of the miles covered . On the nutting stones I have my own ideas on them . I have a friend that is a flint napper . He liked to use a brick to do his pressure flaking on . Now that brick has several dimple in it 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep . I think the hammer stone with the dimples are kind of a multi tool hammer stone / anvil . I read an article online about a guy in the Tennessee Valley that placed his modern points on the river banks on sites and then sit across the river and watch people pick them up . Very irritating to think someone would do that
I believe that someone who can knap real good must somehow be a kindred spirit there is a lot of ways to tell and although I myself l wouldn't do this personally if I found a modern knapped point I would still admire and keep it regardless of their intentions when placing it it takes the spirit of the re,d man to make such a point not quite like counterfeiting money
Nice finds! The introduction was movie 🎥 like, very cool. Your artifacts are similar to ours way out west. We have Mano’sPestles that are multi tool also. Great show, I enjoyed scenery and video.👊
Cool finds man. The Yadkin is fantastic! And I agree with you on the knapper deal..very shitty thing to do. We’ve been getting tons and tons of rain over the mountains from you in East Tennessee..good for arrowheads and bad on the smallmouth fishing...ugh. Good luck!
You done not too badly very nice finds love them nut crackers and the hammerstones love the mortar stone your finding nice archaic period finds i do thing the round curved stone may be a weight i have found my first ever bobbit collecting ancient history is always been my seek and try to find the earlier history of the indigneous people
It’s always a disappointment when you see footprints while searching because that means they are searching also... they may have found something amazing that you didn’t
