- In this video I will review Old Forester Single Barrel Master Distiller Selected and let you know if I will sip on it until the bottle is gone and buy it again or if I will skip buying it once the bottle is gone and replace it with something else.

I have 2 different bottles of Old Forester SB Barrel Strength store picks. One is 131.1 proof and one is 131.3 proof. The one that is open is fantastic and drinks like 100 proof, it is so smooth.
It is a great tasting whiskey. One of my favorite bottles in my collection.
Excellent point about teaching your palate to taste past the ethanol!
Ethanol kills the experience of tasting. Give it time and break through that wall and it opens up an entirely different experience.
Almost all of these have been so, so, so, so good. 100% agree with all of this. Great video Peter!
This is the first bottle I got that I had to stop myself from drinking otherwise I would have drank through it in a weekend.
I’m really enjoying this series! I think more channels should follow the way you are still talking while you are taking your next sip instead of the silence, swallowing noises, and long pauses. Keep up the great content!
Awesome, thank you! I appreciate the feedback. I'll keep it going. Cheers!
Great bottle! Those run for $80-$100+ here in GA depending on the store pick. Even at those prices it’s still a buy for me.
I think I'd pay the same. I might even pay north of $100.00, but I would have to think about it.
Damn! Now I need to look for another rare bottle of bourbon! Great review, Peter, and nice explanation of getting past the 'heat' of whisky. Already looking forward to 'next time'!
Thanks Glenn. This is a really good bottle. So many people I talk to mention the burn and get frustrated that they can't get anything out of the whiskey. I tell them "be patient and the flavors will show up once you get used to the ethanol. Just stick with it and it will pay off." Cheers!
Been following you for awhile now. Love the Sip it or Skip it videos - quick and right to the point. Being in Canada its definitely harder to find these special bottles. We do not get the selection that the US gets. I will be doing a trip to Seattle soon (close to where I live) and hoping to snag some bottles we can't get here.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks! I appreciate the support. I hope when you make the trip you get some good bottles. Happy hunting. Cheers.
Gosh. My local store just had it instock. Just ordered it online. I don’t think one review of this is bad at all. It could be bourbon of the year. I can’t wait
These bottles are good, but they can drink hot. I think that's the only knock on them.
This is a crazy coincidence! My local store in Elkridge, MD just released their Old Forester Single Barrel Barrel Proof Pick today. Sounds like a must buy to me. Cheers!
I would definitely recommend grabbing that bottle. Let me know how it is if you get it.
Awesome find, I haven't seen it. About five years ago, I found a store pick single barrel from Fedway liquor distributors in New Jersey. It was in a unique flask shaped bottle. It was delicious, but wasn't cask strength. 46%
Good find with the store pick. I like Old Forester profile a lot. I'm looking forward to picking up another single barrel bottle if and when I see one.
I just found a bottle, $89.99 in New Jersey.
@@dane5896 please tell me you bought it.
Well I’d sip it and back it up as many times as I could!!
Same here. I like them a lot.
Great review, Peter! Thank you for sharing. Sounds like a great bottle. Unfortunately, I’ve never come across one.
Any comparisons to OF 1920 or Jack Daniels SBBP?
It has a simmer profile of both bottles. 1920 and JD SBBP are great alternatives.
Unfortunately this bottle is not available in SoCal. What a bummer... ☹
Oh no! That is unfortunate. This is a real good bottle. Sorry to hear this.
jackie was never master distiller. “master taster” was her title, which in my opinion, was more of a marketing term.
Thanks for clarifying. I appreciate it.
