We dont have kids in the house, but we do have two cats. Was never a problem with the Fives but theres enough surface area on the Nines, I worry about them wanting to jump on top. I was really hoping you would include some ideas for center channel speaker stands. Lol still an awesome video.. I have some ideas on my surrounds. But I have no clue what stands to get for my 504C.. They are very deep so I wasn’t sure if any of these stands would work. Any recommendations? Thanks again
I had a center stand laying around for a long time but I ended up giving it away, right before this video. Bad timing:/ Just search on eBay, there are a ton of high quality center stand options. You will need to pick out a beefy one, due to the size and weight of your center but they are available. Also, make sure you pick up some rubber door stops, in case the center stand you buy, isn’t adjustable, so you can get the tweeter pointed to the main listening position. Sorry I didn’t include a center stand in the video!
Hi sir, very interesting video and useful for like me beginner. I would like to ask what would you recommend for polkaudio rt55s? I am planning to use as my surround side. Thank you
Yeah, makes me sad when I sell them😆 You’re right though, some of those speakers are speakers that I have listed over for many years. Pretty awesome that this channel has provided me the opportunity to try/own some of my dream speakers, even if they aren’t top of the food-chain or anything. Some great sounding speakers though, no doubt! Thanks for stopping by, my friend!
Hi and thanks for the informative video. WOuld you have recommendations for stands to be used for surround XTZ Spirit 2 speakers? I am struggling because they are very thin profile (they are wider than deep), and it's hard to understand how they will sit on stands.
There are some bookshelf speaker stands used on the Klipsch website that look great. I thought they might be made by klipsch but their not selling them on the site. You wouldn't happen to know who makes them would you?
Dang, that took a little digging but the only speaker stands that I could find, on the Klipsch website, appear to be Bell’O SP-224. I’m not sure if those are the stands that you were asking about but those are the only ones I saw. I’m a total nut but I’ve owned those stands a few times now, they are very high quality. They also come in different heights. Let me know if those were the stands you were asking about. Cheers!
@@blazermdx Wow, I can't believe you figured that out‼️😊👍🏾 I've been looking those dang stands for months. It doesn't seem like they are being sold anymore but at least now I know the manufacturer and model number. Thank you for looking into that for me. You ROCK‼️
Floor standers are still preferred but sometimes the budget or the space doesn’t allow for towers. I figured this info might come in handy to some out there. Thanks again, Les!
I have a pair of SVS Ultra Bookshelves...this might be a stupid question but do you screw them to the base? I'd hate to damage the speaker, but how do you place them on the stand and not have them tip off or slide off the stands? Maybe velcro ?
I have purchased many speakers where the previous owner screwed them to a stand it wall brackets:/ This greatly reduces the resale value, even if the holes are on the bottom and out of sight. Velcro seems to be a pretty good option but you should definitely have stands that sprawl out at the base, for the most stability. If you have pets or kids, you might consider wall mounting them with brackets that don’t require you to drill holes. Great choice in speakers! I hear great things about the SVS Ultra lineup but I haven’t had the opportunity to grab a pair just yet. Only a matter of time.. Thanks for stopping by and for the question, it’s greatly appreciated!
Great video thank you! Regarding the KEF Q150 speakers, I don't understand why their manual goes against the conventional wisdom of tweeter height at ear level? The manual for the Q150 suggests 18" - 24" (45-60cm) speaker stands - that seems awfully low and would be below ear level if I sit on my (or any conventional) couch. But the KEF designers/engineers surely must have put this in the manual for a reason? Does this mean they designed or voiced the Q150s in a way that aligns with 18" - 24" and therefore it would be prudent to strictly stick to getting stands within 18 - 24"? If not, should I go with 28" or 32" inch? 32" would be putting it at or just 1" above ear level I'd say, but given how conservative KEF were in their manual, I was wondering whether 28" would be a better choice too... Any advice here would be so helpful! Thank you.
What do you recommend underneath bookshelf speakers for decoupling? I'm using four 1/2 inch high felt pads. Do you think that is good enough? If not what do you recommend?
Felt pads would probably work fine but I would order some rubber 1/2 domes off Amazon or eBay. I think rubber is the best material for isolation on hard surfaces. The Again, felt pads would also work but rubber would work better:)
@@Dan-iy8ig Rubber, in general, does a much better job at reducing vibrations from traveling from the speakers, into the room. Thick felt would also accomplish this some but not as good as soft rubber. With that said, I’ve never done any tests and I am far from an expert on speaker isolation, I’m just sharing my experience and what I’ve read over the years.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any experience with Sony receivers so I’m not sure how to assign speakers. With that said, I hardly ever send multiple channels of amplification to single speakers. I’ve tried it in the past and haven’t noticed a difference in sound. You should still give it a shot, to see if you can hear a difference but you will need to download the manual for that Sony, to figure out to assign the unused amps. Good luck!
I’m looking for speaker stands and I notice how small the top plate is compared to the speaker. Should I be concerned? I will be putting Polk audio rtia3 speakers on them.
Those are pretty good sized bookshelf speakers so it’s definitely something to think about. If you have kids or pets, it might be a good idea to use Velcro, to attach it to the stand, if your worried about it. I definitely prefer speaker stands with larger top plates and wider bases for stability. My Roomba taught me the hard way. Haha
There's a company called Atacama I think they're based in the UK who sell different sized plates for their stands. I don't know if other companies do this
Ha those stands that you have I think the Polk lsim speakers on are the ones I own :) I have a bag of sand and some zip lock bags sitting around to eventually use to fill them with sand to see if I can hear a difference. Also have some blue tack coming to see if that makes my speakers sound better as an isolator between the stand and the speakers.
Those stands are nice and heavy duty, plenty to support the large Polk LSiM 703’s. Let me know when you add weight to the stands, I would love to see if you hear a difference. I use that blue tack stuff to eliminate rattles in my display cabinet. I usually use rubber domes to isolate my speakers and other audio equipment. Thanks again for stopping by, Tyler!
High frequencies are pretty directional so having the tweeters pointed and leveled to your ears as possible, is the preferred way to set them up. With that said, many times, we can’t pull off ideal positioning so it isn’t a requirement or anything.
