Far-out------Obviously you hadn't heard of 3 speed rears either on heavy trucks . It was a thing in the early '60s, when Fuller and Eaton were separate companies , competing with each other . Especially competing against Fuller Roadranger concept of 10, 13 and 15 speeds . Earon used Spicer or Fuller even ratio 5 speed main and with the tandem 2 speed axles added a 3 position switch to allow one axle to be in low range, the other in high range and created an intermediate range through the power divider . Gave you 15 forward and 3 reverses ..........and lived and worked . Like anything on a truck, a 2 speed axle is a maintenance item .

Two speed axles are often found in heavy duty applications. I can drive 80 mph or put it in low and do about 60 gives you a lot more reduction in gears.. there's a really big c500 out there with two speed axles currently running Heavy Haul
@brandocommando3025 huh, this is all news to me, I've been around trucks since the late 90's, not that long in the big scheme of things, and have never heard of it in heavy stuff, like I said I've only seen it in medium duty stuff, the red pull knob, thanks for the info
