  • In this video I will show you how I use the hydrophone, in order to add a bit more realism to the game. As well as make it a bit more challenging and worth while. This will help add more excitement to the game, when you successfully track a convoy on your own, and intercept it!

      @@SukhoiGC finding content is hard. More players prefer Arcade Mode. I've seen too many player use the navigation map to get exact AoB, I want to learn the attack disks -SH3/5/6 ..
      I asked a popular uboat streamer how do you dumb fire torps ? There answered, you can't not. You have to lock the target.
      I did find a way, with the TDC, manually set AoB to 90, turn heading until the Torps Gyro faces the relative direction you want them to fire - 0° straight ahead if you want to.

      @Southern_Cross_o7 are you using the tdc mod? If I remember correctly, this allows you to fire torps however you want

    This is very interesting. Careful on the realism claim though. U-boats could not stop underwater and maintain trim for any appreciable time. Nor were bearing-only methods (i.e. 4-bearing method) in existence at this time. That was developed in the 1950s. German doctrine at the time was to be surfaced and rely on the Mk 1 eyeball, using the hydrophone as an auxiliary tool only. But this certainly is good for making the game more interesting.

      Its realistic but not historical. They had better tools than WW1 but didn't want to use those? That's why they lost atlantic campaign...

    • @m.hamacher7881
      @m.hamacher7881 4 роки тому +1

      Kenan Keskin The WW2 hydrophone still wasn’t accurate enough. Also, do you honestly think the Germans wouldn’t have realized it if the tech were that good, and adjusted their doctrine accordingly? No, point still stands - German doctrine dictated stay on the surface and do not be passive underwater because the tech didn’t suffice. If you can see the target, you belong on the surface. I have read most of the KTBs that are out there from the war. This was not done. Sure, it was possible to try, but why? There are much more efficient ways to do it, and easier. If you or anyone else is interested in how it WAS done, happy to help.

      @@m.hamacher7881 im interested in subs in Atlantic campaign. After WW2 submarine/anti-submarine warfare seemed little surface-sided. I mean if British found good ways to destroy uboats. Then subs are no longer that overpowered. Am i wrong?

    • @m.hamacher7881
      @m.hamacher7881 4 роки тому +1

      Kenan Keskin You are exactly right, starting in the 1950s, these methods started being developed, using bearings only, because you’re right, subs couldn’t dare show themselves on the surface, and so submarine warfare started to become more about underwater stalking of each other. Hence the absolute need for passive sonar methods.

      @@m.hamacher7881 are modern or cold war era submarines more accurate and stealthy? or ww2 or great war era ones? If i know something for sure great war uboats were inaccurate as hell.
      "Type XXI: known as the Elektroboot; first subs to operate primarily submerged"
      im guessing this type of uboat primarily designed what i was talking about and inspired other subs just like STG-44 inspired AK-47

    Very good video, thanks. I have 2 questions:
    1) What are the distances associated to L M H frequency levels? Example, L up to 30 km... so M up to? and H?
    2) What is the thin bar that can be rotated by the comand near LMH switch?

    There's a muuuuuuch easier way to turn towards the sound contact: simply note the relative bearing on the hydrophone dial, and make a corresponding turn using the third-person camera (or map tools). Your current heading is always 0° relative, so for example if a contact is detected 45° off the port bow, just make a 45° turn to port.

  • @PrettyTAF

    Very impressive. Can you explain what the L M H switches do and what the frequency cutoff mean too. They confuse me, I'm assuming it's to do with range perhaps?

    • @SukhoiGC
      @SukhoiGC  4 роки тому +2

      I'll try and help as best as I can. Because uboat has alot of implementations that dont quite make sense to me in regard to the hydrophone that arent present in sims like silent hunter or wolfpack. So in regard to L, its your basic hydrophone sound frequency, not deductions or anything. From my understanding of I believe M or H, if you are listening for a convoy and cannot single out a ship to track. If you switch to one of those two hydrophone frequencies (I'll have to check), you can lower the gain to only pick up the loudest contact and single that specific point out for tracking. Uboat is kind of weird in that sense because the tools on the boat are modelled in a very simple or vanilla manner. I believe you had a question about the frequency cut off, and im still figuring that one out!
      Hopefully that kind of helps.

      I think I figured it out, L M and H are frequency cut-offs or bypasses. L is low-frequency bypass, that means it lets only low frequencies through, which you can hear over wast distances than you have the M, which is the mid-frequency range with a mid-distance range and finally H as in high-frequency bypass, where you hear only high frequencies which work only in short range. So it basically helps to determine the distance to the target.
      I'm not a 100 percent shure, but I'm definitely sennheiser :D
      P.S.: I thought about it once more and it wouldn't make sense, as germans wouldn't label it L M H, as Low, Mid and High as the word for low doesn't start with an L in the german language XD

    • @SukhoiGC
      @SukhoiGC  4 роки тому +2

      @@Rebius That was a great analysis! And exactly germans would not label it as such lol. Like I said uboat has implementations that just dont quite make sense 😂. Great interpretation though!

      I could be wrong but I believe they are frequency readouts. Turn the pass filter knobs (L, M, H for Low, Mid, High and the frequency selector) and the black thin needle moves and you can then (if there was a zoom function) read the frequency cutoffs.

      the different colored bands on the scope are the frequency selectors. based on the numbers i think its in Hz. the three bands correspond to the frequency select by the cutoff knob "L, M, H." Tan is the low freq band, white is mid, and green is high. its in counter clockwise, lowest frequency starting at about the 5:30 position going around to the highest frequency in the 6:30 position

      There are easier modes if you want easier gameplay. There are so many things to try and stay on top of that it can be unrealistic to manage everything with so many things to control. I'm beta testing a VR game called UBoat, the Silent Wolf. You can have multi-player and co-op, so that will be a nice change to being overwhelmed.
