    I made this change as well. One tip: When you get the end frayed to your liking and don;t want it to further fray, put a few drops of super glue around it at the point where the fray ends and the good sleeve begins. This will 'lock' the weave so it won't fray any more.

    Way better!
    Honestly while I am one for accuracy I am also for wanting to make this my own Proton pack as well which really is the beauty of this pack and just looking at the different braided sleeves to choose from as well as the endless modifications coming out for the pack the sky is the limit :)

    What a difference such a small change makes. I may hit you up for a spare piece if you have one. Thanks!

    I got my finger stuck on mine when I first got it. Felt like one of those old Chinese Finger Traps. I was able to eventually get it off, lol.

    I used a different color braided wire loom to make it my own pack. I still have a lot of work I want to do to my pack but I'm still waiting on other parts. I should have it mostly finished by the end of the summer.

    I've seen this where someone added some electrical wires and spiral wrap right over the stock cord at the bottom too and it looked pretty good. Trying to figure out what gauge electrical wires to use for that yet.

    Great channel! I just wanted to confirm, because I’m slow… this yellow cable cover is just for making the pack an “Afterlife” pack… if I want it to appear more like a 1984 “Stanz” pack, then I should remove the yellow cover altogether and leave the cable black - correct? This yellow cable change is only if you don’t want a GB1 or GB2 pack. I have that right? Watched all your proton pack videos (pre-Haslab) and noted that the yellow doesn’t appear on the 1984 packs…

      The yellow cable is only on the Phoebe pack in Afterlife. It was something Egon rigged up in Oklahoma. The cable underneath the yellow cover is also exclusive to that pack, so you could completely remove it for a 84/89 pack.

      Here’s a quick look at the back of the 84 Stantz:

    Honestly, for all the research they did, and having had access to the production pack, how could Hasbro have screwed this up? The length and color and type is clearly also seen in the movie itself, the scene where Podcast switches on the pack for Phoebe and the camera literally traces that cable from its origination to where it terminates into the cyclotron . . . .

      Maybe the cost for 20,000 feet of it was prohibitive. Maybe the tendency to fray wasn’t something they were willing to include in their product.

    Curious if there is a difference between the two sleeves you received. Did you find one to be more accurate or better than the other?

    How much for just enough to put around the wire if you're willing to part with some? If I don't have to buy a whole roll of it I'd rather not.

    Matt, can you tell me what is the correct size rubber p clip? I’ve seen someone say 32mm? What do you suggest?

    So for me that braided cable that plugs into the cyclotron doesn't seem to want to pop out, any tips?

    • @TheProtonPackIsNotAToy
      @TheProtonPackIsNotAToy  Рік тому

      Mine popped out with a little force and twist. It’s just a rubbery plastic.

    • @Rocket1377
      @Rocket1377 Рік тому

      Just pull hard and twist it out. Don't worry about breaking it, it's solid rubber.

    • @Spacejockey426
      @Spacejockey426 Рік тому

      Yes, it just needs a little bit of force to get it to disconnect. I tried mine at first and it wouldn't budge that much . . . then I saw a video where someone did it, so I tried again and got it out of there. It puts up a little bit of a fight cause the rubber end is flared a bit. It will come out, though, without breaking anything. I think a lot of pack owners think it's glued in there, and so don't take that one off when they open the cyclotron cover. Heck, some don't even remove the other cable on the right side - and that one comes off easily . . .

    Hey Matt, I’ve uploaded a new video on adding a pg7 clip to the original housing on the lights if you’re planning to do the wire mod. Hope this helps you or anyone who is thinking of doing the mod. ua-cam.com/video/oDXHEN386LA/v-deo.html
