The man can't speak articulately. Always pausing and throws in a lot of "uh, um". Great guy, but needs to work on his presentation and speech.

willkilla FCC is involved when you jam radar. It's a federal crime so not worth the legal issues if anything happens.

Always loving seeing Alex talk about his run and the M5, I remember reading and watching everything I could about it a few years back and trying to figure out what systems I could install in my "period correct" B5 Audi A4 to make my own ultimate road trip machine. Can't wait for Apex 2!

The W210 E55 came out in 1998 so there was one in 2001/2002 but awesome video I can not wait for this movie!!

E39 M5 was, and is, still, a masterpiece
Item 11 on Matthews list of things that could possibly go wrong was a fuel pump when according to the book,The Driver, the failure was simply a clogged fuel filter that should have been replaced as regular maintenance before leaving NY.
Of course there was an AMG Eclass in the early 2000’s.

What performance mods did this have other than a tune? It looks like it had some new brakes, but did it have a supercharger?
MrPizzaman09 definitely not for fuel economy and heatsoak issues. I’m sure the 400hp (dohc?) v8 kept that lead sled at 150+ quite East.

Highway radar app for Android detects Waze alerts up to 3 miles and aircraft as well. Also jbv1 for Android if you have a v1 does the same.
The fact that he does not know that there is an equivalent E55 AMG for his E39 BMW… It’s very frustrating. Someone having ownership of such an amazing car and knowing so little about its history. Anyone would know that it’s main rival was the E55. That is day one type of stuff. Sad

my e39 m5 had a radar/ laser detector and jammer k40 with leds integrated into the dome lamps i don't think the jammer worked worth a shit though it always showed my speed on those "speed limit, your speed" digital signs
I would have bought an M5 , but a HSV Holden Commodore became for sale near me. I’ve owned it for 4 years now.
I'm German and it's hilarious that radar jammers are illegal really everywhere on the world but you are allowed to drive 200mph+ on an autobahn. The irony

The more I find out the harder I find it to belive that alex roy has nothing to do with MK71. Especially now knowing that 144i was built for alex roy by AI design my theory looks compelling that mk71 will be piloted in the attempt of a new cross country record.
It is a good theory, but the MK71 is too heavy and would burn too much fuel to make the run in a competitive time. But otherwise it makes sense.

I would not trust these guys' recommendations for laser jammers as the AI Priority jammers have proven over and over that they are superior to the Escort jammers in every test.

Listen I'm being really nit picky here, I know that. But when you're spending 1,500-1,800 on a laser jamming system, you want the best. And the Escort's always lag behind the AI Priority in all categories, most notably against the notoriously hard to jam Dragoneye gun. AI Priority is the best system you can buy, tests the best in the real world, and is updated the most often as the company behind them are countermeasure fanatics. I wouldn't spend my money anywhere else, and I'm surprised with the level of detail that Ai Design puts into all their builds, they don't know this.
BTW I LOVED this video, loved Apex 1 and am eagerly awaiting Apex 2!
@@Armour783 At the time of this run he was running Blinder M20 up front and M20 in the rear. He also used VEIL. This was the best you could do in 2005-2006. Yes I know he said he does escort 360 front and rear now, and that is largely because customers want ease of use and for most people the escort is enough. He did say he would supplement the set-up if necessary with another jammer company
@@drive @Armour783 was just giving information on what is the latest and greatest right now for anyone reading through the comment section. Him and I are part of the radardetectorforum for a decade and we know our stuff regarding this technology even more than Alex and AI.
As of now Anti Laser Priority is the best system that works against all lidar guns in use and they are proven to be the best in testing. (I personally have a 6 head system myself). Second up is the new company TMG which is a great cost/performance system. After that I would say Escort but their products really lack proper updates/performance/future proofing.

e55 AMG w210... auto and 355 HP... the M5 was more powerfull and the only one in manual
In 2003 e55 w211 came out with kompressor v8 :))
The W210 E55 had 354, not 355hp and came out in 1999. So do the math. E39 M5 in 2000 of course had more power. And a manual gearbox would be today literally Porsche and ONE bmw model, the M2. 8,9,10 speed dual clutch automatic is lightyears ahead of any manual!

That w210 e55 AMG had engine was not really AMG, m113 was made by Mercedes and modified by AMG, great Motor but everything else was behind e39 m5.
W210 is definitely slower than the E39 M5. 45hp less alone
