The reason why the White Dino Ranger clone was used in Dino Thunder is due to the huge plot difference of Trent becoming a member of the Power Rangers much sooner compared to his Super Sentai counterpart Mikoto Nakadai. All of the footage from Mikoto's later battles against the Abarangers was used with the Sentai footage that was adapted for Power Rangers for this character to use up all the remaining footage for the show.
Yeah that's crazy to think about. Also, he would have inadvertently been the Power Rangers killer too since if Bakaryuu Sentai Abaranger was the last Super Sentai season, then Power Rangers Dino Thunder would have been the last Power Rangers season. There would have been no Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger or Power Rangers SPD to continue both franchises respectively.
If you really think about it, this kinda affected future Evil Rangers in Super Sentai in terms of merchandise. They're mostly relegated to Premium Bandai content like Gaisoulg, Stacaesar, and Don Murasame.
Dino Thunder was truly done right. The parallels between Dr. Oliver and Trent was amazing. Plus it was so cool to have an evil white ranger which is a call back to Tommy's past, first evil green ranger, second white ranger
Not only that but there was also other call backs to Tommy's ranger days. His last 2 morphers had an key, the red ranger like in his Zeo days had another Megazord that he had as well.
A big part of this comes down to taste. Kids in America love a badass edgy villain, while in Japan, they don't sell as well. Their toys almost always flounder. So to have a ranger be the villain for so long just spelled doom.

I liked the idea of Kaito willing to fight and yet redeem him, and his redemption scene really showed a range. For the 90s, DragonRanger. As trite as it may seem, the battle between brothers, him being more of a neutral evil, and forgiveness was something I seriously enjoyed.
Actually it wasn't almost cancelled Mikoto wasn't selling toys due to how evil he was so the screenwriter Naruhisa Arakawa was pressured into making him good which tbh it did make for a really good redemption arc

My personal favorite evil ranger is tough, as the Psycho Rangers(Who I am surprised you didn't bring up their Sentai counterparts for this video) is still one of my favorites, but I have to give it to the Thunder Rangers from Ninja Storm. They acted as a VERY tough wall for the Rangers at first, but as the season went on, and they befriended the Wing Ninja Academy students, the main trio grew stronger in both power and skill, and by the end could stand toe-to-toe with the Thunder Rangers on equal footing.
I'm enjoying abre ranger so far and abre killer is just like trent before he got too evil but I have to admit they're both evil but equally good on both teams in rangers and sentai
From the seasons I watched (which isn't many, i just started watching sentai last year) I really enjoyed Zyou the World. Yes, he is only evil for a couple of episodes, but in those episodes he was really epic.
Green Ranger... Period. Disrespected the team in every way imaginable. Socked Red in the chest w his Dragon dagger in front of all his friends, jumped INTO the Megazord, and kicked every one of them fools out of their own zord, the only ranger the chuck a fireball, and the Only ranger to become giant sized and fight a zord... Green Ranger ALL DAY!!!
If that was the case I think stuff like that is a really silly reason to cancel sentai because Before that point there are a lot of things in sentai that haven't aged well at all
I was 4 or 5 when Dino Thunder on it's air. I remember when I got into Power Rangers it with the VHS tapes and most of them were Mighty Morphin and 2 were Lost Galaxy and Turbo. And that was also when Dino Thunder on it's air.
I guess since Nezirangers is a whole separate team, it was fine and considered just another group of antagonists Abarekiller is practically the 5th Abarangers with how similar he is to the team in terms of design and power set, and the fact he's not really tied to another separate group of antagonists. I guess sponsors don't like that as they think the children might think that they are allowing a villain to be a part of the team (despite the story not showing that at all until near the end) so they forced the redemption on him.
According to Arakawa-San, The reason why Bandai and TV Asahi threatened to pull out was because toy sales were low for Abare Killer merchandise, Arakawa wanted to stick to his guns, TV Ashai and Bandai threaten Toei by pulling out because it wasn't emulating the Dragonranger storyline to a T, And that is why you don't see evil Rangers remaining evil anymore. Expect Gira's brother to appear as a team member of King-ohger before the end of the series. (Unless something changes between now and then, and by then I mean the future)

Kamen Rider Genm is exactly why I don’t get this. He’s never actually good, he’s always evil, on the hood side, he’s just waiting for the moment to strike without them erasing him. Then again, he’s from Kamen Rider and it’s like 14 years later
To be fair, Genm was actually on Ex-Aid's "side" when he came back in the show. Plus all his stuff was PBandai exclusive, so there wasn't any risk of his toys floundering having a huge impact on overall toy sales. Mikoto was almost always on the enemy side and his toys were released like any other ranger toy.

I was 14 years old and having grown up with the Zordon era was so excited that Tommy Oliver was coming back. I had actually stopped watching after Time Force (the year I turned 12). I didn't watch Wild Force so I didn't even know about Forever Red until I got the Best of Power Rangers DVD. I stopped watching after Dino Thunder so I also missed out on S.P.D. (one of my favorites now) as well as the rest of the Disney Era. Oops.
Yeah, but Trent was done better imo, and longer. Plus he wasn't 100% evil at first, leading to a slow burn until the white gem's powers fully take over. The arc was well done.
my favorite evil ranger in Sentai is Stacaesar from Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger because the reason he is evil is because his dad is a douche bag and lacked parental love after his mom died.

I don't think the franchise was in that big of danger, tbh we saw until Zenkaiger, sentai sales were falling hard and it was like something of 10 years straight where sentai kept having sales fall below expectations and it kept going. One season wouldn't have killed it.
