      @@rickvenema13 I’ve owned 3 x XR’s but somehow I don’t think my Gen 2 XR would meet the noise restrictions in Europe !!🤣

      @@Chris-vq5vr nice, yeah noise regulations are sh#t. Even with everything stock there where some roads i was not allowed because of the noise 😑

      @@rickvenema13 really? That’s insane. Here in Australia, my BMW dealer installed my akropovic headers & remapped my ECU for me. My warranty is still valid also. I am thinking of transporting my bike to the UK and do a tour of Europe. But now you have me thinking 🤔 🤣🇦🇺

    Hello mate, I have a question and maybe you have a answer. How do you find the comfort? Would you recomend this bike for days of 1000km+ with passenger and bags? Im looking to go from my xt1200 to something with a little more kick. And the s1000xr is a awesome bike but the comfort factor is a big problem for me and the wife. How would you compare the comfort with other big adv bikes ?

    • @rickvenema13
      @rickvenema13  6 місяців тому +1

      He thanks for heading out to me. I can not answer that completely since the feeling of a bike is for everyone different. One of the downsides is the vibration in the steeringwheel thats a dealbraker for some people. I dont notice it at all, especially not when u drive it a little bit harder.(since it designed as a sport engine)
      About the comfort I do easy 500 or 600 km trips and even have the energy to do an evening trip. I prefer the small roads instead of the highway so the 500 to 600 km is like a 10h ride with some stops (just a full day of driving)
      I have no comparison with a passenger. Did only small trips with the girl on the nc700x and last year a 10 day NC500 in Scotland with the girl on the back. And she prefers the s1000xr 1000x more since she can see more because I'm a tall guy and she has a lot of leg space.
      Hopefully this helps u a little with your questions and sorry I can't answer them all. Did u already try or testride an XR?
      Also I think the quickshifter and autoblipper are helping with a passenger on the back since its buttery smooth. Even smoother as the 1250GS (my father in law has one)

      @@rickvenema13 My current xt1200 super tenere has lots of vibrations so i dont think i will be bottered by vibration on the s1000xr. Haven't ridden one yet as i never found one at big biker meeting where dealers come, they only bring the r1250gs and the r1250rt never the s1000xr. But i have sat on one and i find the ergonomics just fine. I live in Romania and me and the wife like to go to N Italy to ride the Dolomite passes so there is a lot of highway to cover to get there, 1000/1200kms a day are common during our vacations. I found a s1000xr from 2018 with 33k kms and it looks really nice and i am anxious to pull the trigger on it. Can't really do a propper test ride in the winter so i would be force to buy it with minimal riding before purchase. Is the skinny seat a problem? The stiffer suspension on bumpy roads? Does the pillion need to be tall? The pillion steps look like they have a bit of distance from the seat, and my wife is smaller in size and prefers higher up foot pegs.
      Also i saw a lot of videos of riders having problems with cam chain tensioner at around 30k/40k kms. Is that very commom? Does changing with a new tensioner solve the problem or do you really need to put a manual ATE one?
      Thank you for taking your time and giving me a answer mate!

      @SAB-iq1kp no problem at all. It's a bummer you are not able to test it. i think it's wise to test it before u buy it otherwise I could me a costly discussion. Not that it will be a bad choice since i think its an amazing bike haha. But indeed BMW is mostly promoting the GS and RT. About the suspension, for me its no problem and it's nog stiff at all. I also have it always in dynamic (stiff) since it's steering some much better, better turn in and stability in the corner to my experience. And the passenger does not have to be tall at all. Maybe hard to get of and on but I think she will get used to it.

      @@rickvenema13 thank you a bunch. I will be test riding it but just "around the block". Not really going to put many kilometers on the test ride. I want to buy the xr so bad 🤣
      Did you have the chain tensioner problem yet?

      @SAB-iq1kp just do it... do a small weekend trip with the wife (big plus point for the relation ahhaha) and if she does not like it you can always sell it again. They keep there value very good even with more kms
