Yeah I didn't like it at first either but I used to work three 400 ft in the air and I got the concrete buried 6 ft deep and 3 foot round there no way I would have climbed it if I thought there was a chance of it tipping over other than not tightening the base plate bolts down LOL

Ryan, lightening is more apped to hit it laying on the ground rather then it straight up in the air!!! Electric will travel threw the ground!!! Just ground the tower. Take you a couple tires , cut them in half and put around the base of the tower!! Good luck!!

I'm working on the ground rod there will be video coming up this week or next week I cannot imagine what they got in wouldn't do to their concrete if it was not grounded

Ryan, may I ask how tall your tower is and how tall the pole with the winch is? I have a 40' Rohn tower and want to add 20' along with the same setup you have next year...Thanks Much...

The harness is not only for safety. It's also for having two hands to work with while on the tower.

I used a power pole for the winch on a 50' tower ten years ago, now use a 12 vdc winch to help with the weight of the antennas.

if you ran the through a double or triple pulley, it would require far less effort to rais and lower it, if i remember correctly from my physics days it is what as known as the"fulcrum effect" the basic principle of all cranes and recovery truck winches :) :), personally i use 2 electric winches 1 to lower my tower and 1 to raise the height just rquires a 12v car battery and small solar panel to keep the battery charged :) :)

I used to be a rigger for a crane and it would take a lot longer to lower and raise it if I done it that way with that hand crank winch I got now it doesn't take a lot of effort

I have bolts brake on me at work on light towers, so I would keep an eye on them

What's the size of the base?

From ground-level what you see goes down 6 inches then it goes from that 3 ft round and a additional 6 ft
