Dude it is so hard keeping a family manufacturing business with 100+ employees humming at full throttle in this market, I'm here to tell ya it is anything but easy. This guy has reason to be proud, he is Tony Stark; his dad was making F16 parts, the kid takes over the firm, goes in his own direction, and is kicking butt making bike parts now. If he shows some pride, so what? Go do it better if you think you can...and I hope you will! That's what is so great about this country.
It's called quality control and quality assurance. Good companies do it, bad ones don't. It's the same reason your pants/shoes/whatever from the store have a QC sticker with an inspector's number. It's particularly important for anything made by hand as opposed to machine.
Ooooohhhhh, I wish these guys made wheels for my bike. But even if they did, I couldn't afford 'm. All props to Roland Sands Design and manufacturing. My "wish" list would be machined front and rear mags, with dual disc brake and calipers front, single disc and dual caliper rear. Risers and bars with internal control cables. Powder coated exhaust, intake kit with FI module. Leave the rest of the bike stock. Wait for someone got a little closer to it and notice. . ."hey, WTF is this?" ~S~
I started by performance machine products in 97 thanks for carrying on an awesome tradition of quality and make it way more edgy! Rsd! Hillbilly red from Minnesota! Thanks Roland for such great products! Ride it like you stole it! F.t.w

I really enjoy the show. Constructive criticism though; I have to watch it with my hand on the volume the whole time, it fluctuates so much. Sometimes I can't hear people talking, other times they boom. Other than that, I really enjoy the show.
I wish you guys would normalize your audio better. The segments with music are uber loud and the segments with Roland talking in his office are pretty quiet. I find myself constantly adjusting my computer's volume and struggling to hear what's being said over the music.
this video was good, but you are having issues with what I have problems with - Grant Ray's mic in the office scene was just nasty. I'd have at least run it through some kind of noise filter or re-recorded it in post. Other than that, good video and looking forward to more.
He kind of reminded me of ken block in the beginning when there's the shameless self promotion saying hes done everything, but he seems like a great engineer and his bikes are pure art I wish they had some close ups. Also hats off the the machinists, its not easy but if their good they can really make some slutty parts.
Sound Levels! Pay attention to it. Your videos would be so much better if the sound was better. I hate having to turn the Volume all the way up for the talking and then way down for the loud music in between. Good stuff overall.
Ichiban Moto his family owns one of if its not already the biggest aftermarket parts manufacturers in the world, 43 years plus in the business, Performance machine inc look em up they're definetly see a profit .
Actually, engineers calculate the theoretical limits. Testing is done to make sure the manufacturing process and materials meet the engineered expectations. 1 step without the other is a recipe for disaster.
Sound mixing is all out of whack again.. can hardly hear speech so you turn it up only to be deafened by cruddy music and bike noise. I'm not really sure what the purpose of the episode was, just seemed like a way of filling 10 minutes because you had to publish something, nice workshop though.
And just how much "Engineering" have you done? No amount of theory can cover an enirety of real life usage. Even in a controlled situation like a race car let alone stuff that is sold to the public. Do you think nasa just sent out the space shuttle without testing any of the components in a simulated jig beforehand?
these are the most amazing bikes i have ever seen, please roland sand designs never stop making bikes, especially like these.
Thank you "RSD" for creating gear that works. That ronin jacket spared me the agony of high speed road rash.
seeing this makes you really appreciate the work and engineering put together.
ONE OF THE BEST RIDE APART EPISODES!

Another awesome video guys, mad respect for the only bike segment of Drive.
Roland Sands... design innovator, driven worker and biker at the epitome of his time.
Wish him much health and success.
I love seeing other machinists and designers at work. A true lost art in America.
Thanks for the video, I love seeing the behind the scenes of the masters.

I'm only 20 seconds into the video and I already love it
I really enjoy how the show developed into some really great material. Those first couple of episodes were a little rough, like most other new shows
That was a fantastic video, although it had it's flaws I have to say I loved the factory visiting. I do like the bikes that Roland Sands builds.
According to their website their armor is indeed CE approved. Quoting from their description on the website: "CE rated 1621-2: 2002"
not a fan of bikes, but this guy's an inspiration! great episode !
I really liked the artistry and the engineering related to this video...great episode! As others said, maybe another based on the bikes too?

That KTM café racer is so so nice.
I do not care at all for the whole "proving myself" aspect Roland gives off. All I need is this is what I make and this is how I made it.

nicely done :) however would have liked to see the bikes closer up they look stunning!
On a super high performance car like the V, the larger grill openings feed more air to the supercharger and brembo brakes.
GREAT JOB GUYS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
I usually watch in 240p so that it will actually load.
I like the guy trying to start his bike. One more reason I am a mountain biker.
FYI you could ride a motorcycle and also ride a mtb, just not at the same time.
I really enjoy the show.
Constructive criticism though; I have to watch it with my hand on the volume the whole time, it fluctuates so much. Sometimes I can't hear people talking, other times they boom. Other than that, I really enjoy the show.
MORE!!! I Will own one of his bikes some day...
Guys keep doing what you are doing
Lets see more bikes!!!
Great video!

That was a great show! How about interviewing Cwood from Airtrix or Bimota historian Bob Steinbugler

Did you know that the "G-Meter" is an impressive touch even on a wagon?!?

Also hats off the the machinists, its not easy but if their good they can really make some slutty parts.
did you watch the show before editing, i had to change the volume more times than a new born baby has to have its nappy changed
he makes some KOOL stuff!!!
बहुत ही रोचक!!
Second DRIVE show this week that the audio levels are horribly inconsistent... it really detracts from great content.
What the name of the street bike at the end when they try to start it up.
If you ever design and manufacture a product make sure to let me know. I don't want to buy it on accident.
Leather that's soft the day you buy it is leather that isn't going to last. Gotta break it in, dudes.
The armor is rebranded Forcefield as far as I know.
Sound Levels! Pay attention to it. Your videos would be so much better if the sound was better. I hate having to turn the Volume all the way up for the talking and then way down for the loud music in between. Good stuff overall.
what the music playing in this video?????????????
They should visit Lance Gamma and checkout some of the Suzuki RG500s he has restored.
Ill remmember him at biker build of @ discovery channel and hi still makes sick bikes !
Hi, gentlemen!
Maybe someone know the name of the musik in this video?

Your camera man should consider deshaking and zooming out!

As long as there are motorcycles it will be sustainable so yeah der
47th and not 301! :D
Actually, engineers calculate the theoretical limits. Testing is done to make sure the manufacturing process and materials meet the engineered expectations. 1 step without the other is a recipe for disaster.
looks like a bell MX-2
Don't they test anyway? I mean, I'm pretty sure McLaren knows what they're doing (engineering wise) and they constantly test.
oh and a bigger grill feeds more air
Harley Davidson.. Hardly Davis & son made me fucking laugh.
Maybe made in America for Americans but it looks as tho “ by American hands” might be a bit of stretch.
The whole world is laughing at America - daily.
helmet: bell moto 9
Wes was awfully quiet.
Way creative way talented cool cat 🇺🇸FTW WFO

why is the background music, so fucking loud!!!!
Dammit youtube fix your fucking bugs!!!!!
