I'm gonna write a movie script about a regular guy, down on his luck, needing a huge chunk of $ for his wife's lifesaving operation, finding his childhood collection, which includes a minty 1st edition Charizard, that he sends to BGS to get graded. I won't give away the plotline totally, but the title will be "Bend it Like Beckett".
The irony of Beckett “thanking their loyal customers” on April fools 😂 it’s like they posted on that day so they can disregard their promises that they made cuz “we didn’t lie, it was April fools” lol
Their customer service is a nightmare. I'm at an issue right now where I sent a card in. It received a great grade, they sent me my card back with a complete mislabel that belond to another card in another genre. I emailed them and received a response immediately saying they'll fix it. Shipped it back and instead of giving me my initial grade and label, they just regraded the card which is now lower in rating, and nobody is following up with my request to fix it by giving me what I initially received prior to their mess up.
Another funny thing is my friend just got 2 of her slabs back that all sub grades were 10s, but they put the gold label on them instead of the black label. Absolutely terrible lol
I would never send a card to Beckett. If you want to be a premium product, provide premium customer service. If you can't get that right, you're not premium. Just looking at their ad campaign and you can tell they're anything but premium
Hey Rattle, that picture @5:00 was something they were considering to do / upgrade (it is not en error). The actual title of that slab sticker says: "The new gem mint is here! Updated grading scale. Same world class standards." They were collecting some feedback from their customers whether to change the grading scale or not but it seems like they are not going to be performing any changes after all (at least for now) as it seems.
The more I dig into grading the more bizarre the rabbit hole becomes. Beckett is just careless. I'm amazed that they are still around despite having a license to essentially print money. If they weren't incompetent they'd have no competence at all -- at least in the last couple of years.
If they really were collector obsessed, they would not have to ask about customer feedback about the hobby. They would be in the thick of it and int the know.
I love beckett slabs but after my last sub Im done sending to beckett. I get people have bad days or make mistakes. But I got a slab with hair in it. A slab with what looks like a piece of microfiber cloth in it. Two cards at the 140 level... one came as a 9.5 i was like okay maybe I missed something. The subs came back centering 9. and the rest 9.5.. The centering was immaculate even accoring to grading tools and people who send 1k cards all the time. But thats not even the biggest problem. I had another card get 10 centering which had worst centering and edges which had 8.5... yeah okay. sureee the 8.5 edges is where I have a problem. If you saw a picture you would understand. But pass on beckett it has become a joke now and I tried to give them a chance again. I love the way the slabs look but yeah no reason to grade with them anymore when I guarantee these get a psa 10
Aw dang cmon man. Just about to send a Charizard V Alt from Brilliant Stars off to BGS lol. Hopefully they’ll mess up and give me a Black Label instead of a 9.5 like I’m expecting 😅
BGS lost me when i found out they hadn't logged the correct Population number for Black Labels. Meaning people thought there were only 1 or 2 of a card and paid up to 20k only to find out the numbers were incorrect and there were more like 15. Prices are derived from POP the most important thing for a grading company, and not having access to the POP report without signing up is simply stupid.
Beckett is a mess. I sent in 3 average Japanese cards in December. They JUST got graded smh all three 10s lol so who knows, maybe they were 3 9.5s and a 10 😂😂😂
BGS is a 💩 show and anyone who told them it was a great idea to devalue 85% of their GEM MINT slabs and it would be ok for the market should be fired. The company has a major problem.

Idk I think 2 9.5 sub grades should still be a 10 I think theyve been trying to promote BGS 9.5=PSA 10 and no one is buying that lol so it incentivizes people to go back to PSA
all this does is annoy current customers who paid for a service and if they got a 9.5 it devalues their cards so they most likely wont use bgs again and might aswell use cheaper option PSA
I like how people prefer bgs over CGC when both companies are scummy and subgrading is a joke sometimes. I still collect BOTH but just funny how there’s a “grading war” when there shouldn’t be on in the first place.

@BUDGET CARD BREAKS idk tbh. I like rattle but he definitely has a personal bias against grading companies for whatever reason.

Gimmicky and didn't pick up something as easy to identify as blatantly fake 1st ed stamps the same way low wage graders from other companies didn't.
