This is perfect, I have an electric one and a magnetic one, both need rewiring. This will be a tomorrow project. For cleaning rails I use a 1000 grit sanding sponge, gets a nice shiny polish on the rail head.
The first time I ever did this, teenage me didn’t have enough hands to keep everything in place so I had to take apart another controller to see how it went back together lol.
Done this one enough times, but the thought of trying to teach some of the guys in my "club" to do it makes my skin crawl. I've always been amazed how many toy train hobbyists can barely wire a light bulb.
Not trying to make fun of anyone, but it really does amaze me how many are in the hobby for many years and still have no clue or interest in basic electrical mechanics.
Thanks for the great video. I recently bought one of these that needed a new wire. Your video was great. Thanks for taking the time to do this very detailed video.
