Vekoma Boomerang - Reinvented | NoLimits 2 Concept

  • Here's a fun little concept coaster I've been working on! Vekoma is blowing up the roller coaster industry, so here's what I envision a current remake of their most famous coaster model could look like.
    This LSM launched shuttle coaster features a backwards AND forwards launch through the station, 3 inversions, tight turns, and lots of positive G-Forces. Another LSM section boosts you up a spike with an airtime hill, the train stalls out, and the layout is done again in reverse.
    Not affiliated with Vekoma in any way.
    Trains and LSM models by TheCodeMaster.

      The point of a boomerang is to be a cheap, low capacity, high thrill, small footprint coaster for smaller parks. For most potential customers the added cost and maintenance of a switch track will probably not be worth it.

    • @matthewmoravitz7199
      @matthewmoravitz7199 5 років тому +2

      Capital Thrills I was just thinking about that as well while watching. Especially with how close that one section of track gets to the station platform, there would need to be at least an external structure for storage of the train during weather/maintenance. I like that idea of an external station a lot though, perhaps they could integrate a holding track as well to allow for one train to be boarded whilst another runs the circuit.

    Definitely one of the best Shuttle Coaster designs I've seen on here! While I do feel it could benefit from a dual station (IE. _Mr Freeze: Reverse Blast_ at Six Flags Over Texas) to increase the hourly capacity through two trains, it's got a superb layout. I especially like the dive loop/zero g-roll/angled loop combination and the vertical airtime hill on the second spike; and honestly? If I ever build my own theme park, I'd have to get something like this commissioned for it.

    • @WhatsTheT
      @WhatsTheT 5 років тому +2

      Kw6sTheater it would depend on each individual park but in general it looks like many of the parks most def could replace their legacy vekoomas with this new gen without having to make tons of more space.

    • @Danrarbc
      @Danrarbc 4 роки тому

      Looks like this wouldn't fit in the exact plot of land some of the more tightly packed Boomerangs are in. But there aren't that many that are squeezed in to a plot like that.
      If Vekoma did in fact do something like this I'd expect some tweaks that'd allow for the reuse of the existing station and a tighter adherence to the existing footprint.
      I'm not sure there's much of a market for a drop in replacement though.

    It's a cool concept for a launched shuttle coaster, but the biggest selling point for the Boomerangs are the small footprint. Where this seems to have a fairly large footprint in comparison.
    Nice idea though. And I've always thought that LSMs would make more sense on the second spike of a standard Boomerange 🤣

    To note something about this, a new layout wouldn't necessarily fix the big issue with the Boomerang because the big issue has nothing to do with the ride itself. The biggest problem with the current Boomerangs is that they're just everywhere, and if this ride ends up being spammed like the original it's going to have that same problem.

    Hey! There have been two new rollercoasters anncounced for 2020 at my local park called Tripsdrill in germany. One of them will be a 22m tall, 60km/h fast dueling Vekoma family boomerang with a combined track length of around 500m and Vekomas first installation of their suspended thrill coaster model. It will feature a 30m drop, 4 inversions, a max speed of 80km/h and a track length of 800m. I would love to see your take on a Vekoma STC featuring those stats!

  • @argonaut640
    @argonaut640 5 років тому

    Looks compact, has an interesting layout, would make for a good launch coaster for parks that don't have the land for something like a big Intamin Blitz Coaster or MACK Rides Launch Coaster.
    One caveat that might be a concern: price. Though, given the reliability of LSM's and lack of track length, as well as the short nature of these boomerang coasters, that might not be an issue. Though, given the popularity of Primere Ride's Sky Rocket 2 model, it looks like this would have some competition to go up against.
    Then again, Sky Rocket 2's are still quite different from what is here so who knows?

  • @natethompson8923

    This is seriously incredible. Your transitions are beautiful, and the ride is exciting both forwards and backwards (something boomerangs are not). I'm obsessed with both spikes, and the fact that they are so different. Just need to add a switchback station to increase the flow through ;)

    This video is a lesson on presenting a render. No crazy graphics, no click bait title, no padded tags, no 40 minute like-subscribe-ring.tHE BELL! diatribe and the music, while not everyone's cup of tea, wasn't ear splitting Christian rock.
    The best part though... the presentation. Sweeping wide off ride angles that allow you to see the full elements in action first with a midpoint pov and a graceful sweep out. No jump cuts and a wise choice to forego a landscape for a clean background drawing my attention only to the ride.
    Well done. :slow clap:

    This looks awesome! Three points of critique:
    1. The track going over the station and dipping just in front of it is very low and would make a station building more difficult to create.
    2. Is there enough logical space for the pathways to go? Also if those paths have to come out at the same point?
    3. Although still small, this looks to be larger than a Vekoma Boomerang.

    I gotta say that it’s pretty impressive seeing a better and more beautiful version of the Vekoma Boomerang than the traditional and more boring version of it but that looks like fun and I’d totally recommend giving that to vekoma and seeing if they will build that for a future park ride somewhere like Silver Dollar City or Worlds of fun cause I know those 2 parks will most likely theme it around their parks unlike Six Flags they would build it but not theme it correctly.

    Looks good, but you can not have anything of that length without adding energy to it on the return leg. Cold vs hot weather, humidity, altitude and other factors along with weight and friction are just too great. There's a reason nothing even remotely approaching that length (as a shuttle) has ever been built without some sort of chain/cable/boost to add energy for the return trip.
