I dry detangle my hair with an oil. Best decision i made this year and my hair loves it. I think the oil gives the best sliiiiipp😍. I keep my hair in mini braids and I dry detangle and spread my sebum down from one braid to another. My hair is soft and moisturized without adding water

I'm thinking that many women get worried about dry detangling their hair because they interpret the term as meaning "dried out detangling" rather than detangling hydrated hair that isn't wet or damp. I did do a hydrated dry hair detangling and it's wonderful. If I take my time, I can get most of the shed hairs out and since I always keep my hair stretched in twists now, it takes way less time.

Now with a WnG I go in with water and slightly finger detangle then shampoo. If I have medium size twist I go in with Olive oil b4 water for detangling

I always wondered about this cos as a kid my hair was done everyday. I wore 2 pigtails and mom brushed and plaited my hair daily. I had no breakage.

    1. I like to keep my natural hair dry (no products, no oils).
    2. Then I wash it with only soap once a week (no shampoo, no conditioner). It is a quick wash because of no product built up on hair or scalp.
    3. Then I towel dry it (no blow dryer).
    4. And I finger detangle it dry once a week (no brushes, no combs) after I have washed it and it takes about 4 hours.
    5. I keep it in an afro always (no hairstyles), just finger pick it to shape.
My hair is about 5 inches long, a little less than a year of growth. I plan to chunky twist it and hold it in a ponytail when it reaches 2 years' mark (about 12 inches in length). A simple minimalist hair routine does it for me.

Dry detangling is my go to before washing, conditioning and deep conditioning, and then detangling with a wide tooth comb. So much faster than only wet detangling

Great video! I dry detangle 1-2 times a week (braids or twists) to get rid of shed hairs that cause matting.

I think you should encourage your audience to consider membership every few videos. Even if 1% of your viewers do it that is good residual income. If 5% do it 0:02 that is GREAT residual income. Your channel is worth it!

    Another interesting video!!
According to some hairstylists, the curlier your hair is, the more salt bonds it has, so when wet, curly hair is still stronger than straight hair when it is wet.
I am a little confused about the whole hearing if the hair is snapping or not thing. I can always tell if my hair is snapping off when it's wet, whereas dry (even with a new method I've been experimenting with) all I can hear is the brush going through the texture which masks any sort of snapping sounds for me. 🤔
But it definitely makes sense to detangle (whether or dry) before jumping straight into washing. 👍🏼
Love your styles! Next time you have your hair out I'd love to see a little of the styling process! 😃

I ONLY wear wash and go. I finger detangle almost daily. I really don't have tangling issues. I just dampen and in a minute my hair is done. I do realise my hair is not typical. So damp detangling is my go-to. But I remember my mom doing my hair daily with a little oil, no water and I had great hair as a kid. No breakage despite my hair being brushed and combed daily

Depending on what hairstyle I'm taking down I'll do oil instead of water only or water based prepoo. Also my hair is medium density so if I did dry detangling I have to go extreme slow to avoid serious damage. I wouldn't dare use a comb or brush on my dry hair except after a wash and blowdry so I can trim my hair. Not all hair is the same so testing is best to see what works for you.

Your hair in this video is you🎉
Wet detangling is best for my hair when in its natural state. Only when its thermal straightened (haven't done it for some years now) dry detangling works for me.
    Thanks for sharing.😀💜💐🙏🏾🙋🏾‍♀️

Wet or damp, daily detangling will always be my preference. But my niece's hair will definitely benefit from dry detangling. There is no one size fits all. I have learnt that there is always a few people who are the exception to everything everyone else does .....
      That's just how hair ks😂

I've been on a journey to learn MY hair and I figured out about 6 months ago - the less I handle my hair wet the better.
I have super fine 4a-c hair. I dry detangle once or twice a week with a bit of shea buttter because fairy knots and matting are my no.1 enemy. I pretty much use the same method as you, with my fingers.
Wet detangling chews up my hair ends.

I actually can tell when my hair is slapping when wet, with my hands or with a comb and I don't lose hair and they really feel great, and of course, it's easier for me 🤭.
But I understand what U mean. Maybe some of us can't feel it and we all don't have the same hair an scalp and feelings...So it can be more fragile for some people and less for others. Otherwise, I like your video. 🙏🏽✨
