Ex-mountain biker... 56 years old, never rode Moto... thinking hard on a e-moto/cross/enduro bike... this was an amazing video to capture the range of beginner/amateur riders... and, that Pro was killing it. Thank you for the video and sharing.
Crazy how much more battery pros use than your average rider. 80% of riders could do a 2 hour hare scramble on these, but a lot won't since you don't see pros doing it.
This could be addressed by making a hot swappable battery version so pros can race a full 2hr scramble with a quick pit stop like they already do for fuel
@@777goncharovv You're exactly what I'm talking about lol. Nothing complicated about swapping a battery in the pits. I've already seen it done just as fast as getting fuel.
The Bike has plenty of range for regular riders. 2 plus hours of riding is really more like a four hour ride with your friends when you consider stopping for the views, water, talking, etc. I ride mine on single track and easily get three hours or more of ride time, and I'm totally sacked when I'm done. Where the range wouldn't be amazing would be wide open desert runs or road riding to get between trails. You can get about 40 miles of riding easily, which is a lot of single track riding. I bring a 120V generator camping, and with that you can easily extend the range a lot while you eat lunch or take a break. I usually don't bother bringing the generator on day trips because range hasn't been an issue for me.
I think it would be to be more like a 701 in weight though. My Alta only ever got about 45 miles of range on the street, and that was being extremely conservative on speed and power delivery. It's crazy to run on pavement, but it eats up the battery so fast you live on nothing but range anxiety.
@timt1346 All I'm saying is there's a market for it. You see people riding them on the street already because there's just not enough places to ride off-road. It's the same reason I don't own a SXS. I don't want to tow something 3 hours to ride every weekend 😂
Looking forward to a range test with less extreme/technical/hard enduro riding, which benefits the clock on how long a batter lasts. For recreational riders, many more ride flowy single track and 50" wide forest service roads vs putting themselves through hard enduro sections. Those flowy and simple trail riding will mean higher average speeds, of course, which may mean lower range, but curious to see what type of range can be had for that terrain as we often to family and friends rides and ride anywhere from 30 to 55 miles of easy going mountain trails and roads.
Love what you guys are doing keep it up! Think it's not quite there for Hard Enduro due to the longer rides but I don't doubt it will get there. Cheers🎉
The beginner rider is the more realistic version of a typical ride as when riding in a small group, we usually stop for a quick break every 30 minutes or so. I have approx 30km or single track and gnarly hard enduro terrain on my property, and I can tell you as an intermediate A level rider. that riding here in small group of 5 or 10, typical ride day or evening involves us riding for 2-3 hours with a total time out of 3-4 hours. We are usually pretty cooked after that, and I have yet to kill the battery down to even 25 percent. Just got a blue street plate for mine. Can't wait to do some Zaap-zaaps on the back wheel down to the supermarket !!!
Really interested about this amazing bike congratulations Stark futur 👏👏. But don’t think the range will be enough for my use. Last trip was 50km and I had to come back otherwise it would have been 60/70 km. I hope they will be a long range version or with new technology of batteries like solid ones.
I'd like to see a bit more range, Our rides in state forests run for atleast 5 hrs with a few 5 min breaks here and there after some crazy hill climbs hehe my 300exc from full tank usually hits reserve one ride I think electric has potential just needs a better fuel source.

Would be nice to include a clutch like e-trials bike, to achieve the complete enduro purpose, see Yamaha Trials bike, is awesome Taddy´ll like it for sure
It has come long way. Do need a clutch for hard enduro though, and it seems to fragile. That screen would break in a day, and what about the battery and engine? How does it stand up to a crash? But yeah it's getting closer at least.. Good job 👍
You can leave the phone/screen at home, so that's not an issue. Other than that I would trust the stark more than a new 2 or 4 banger, one bad rock through the crank case and you're done. If you crack the battery in the varg you just get a new battery or fix the case.
Thanks for the answer. Good to hear that the bike can be used without the screen attached. You are right about the crankcase. Normally it's not a big deal since the covers can be protected and otherwise replaced.. I believe the battery is really expensive on the varg, and yes as a lithium one maybe even starts to burn. Nothing is perfect that is for sure... I need to test one to really know.
The question is, how long will the battery maintain its strenght, cause after one year of use, that thing will drain itself like a wet towel on the sun.
I mean. In a pro race, you could use this (and because it’s so light it would be an asset) but you would need a person with a battery at one of the sections to swap.
In Queensland Australia we often ride over 5 hours through the trails. Some rides are up to 80km. This still isn’t a viable option for me (unfortunately)
I would love to test one of these bikes out where I live (west coast Canada). We have some of the most technical enduro riding around here and I’d be really interested to see how a bike with less HP, setting, yet still tons of torque would stack up vs my current 350f. I feel like you could ride for longer due to less fatigue from the power.
Based on many videos I have seen if you were running 30-35 HP for the more tech trail I would add about 10km to those figures. The main thing is if you did 40-50km day in say Mcnutt in BC very tech riding area you would be tired of riding before the battery runs out.
@@dans8149 agreed. That would be a good day at McRut. I’m curious though what a 35hp bike feels like but with all that torque. Only problem is the bike still weighs more than a 450 I think.
