My mother, who lived to be 84, always dressed in classic yet stylish outfits. She was very petite and took great care not to wear clothes that overwhelmed her small frame. Her advice was to pay attention to fit and fabric. Nothing too tight or too baggy. Only natural fabrics like silk, cashmere, suede, leather, wool and cotton. Simple prints that were not too busy. And always age appropriate - no puffy shoulders or high heels on an older woman! She used bags, scarves and jewelry to change it up and not look frumpy.

I love what you said about adding a youthful or fun element to an otherwise overly classic look. I do have to give a little defense of colorful pumps here, though. I’m a corporate attorney and I have cultivated a classic and elegant business style - but I find adding a fun pump (so long as it is “in palette” with the rest of the look) can be the perfect focal point to add interest to an otherwise drab outfit. (Ex: a fuschia pump with a black suit, a metallic gold pump with a beige suit).
A minimizer is a must! One that pulls the breasts in, towards the middle, instead of them sitting out towards the arms. This helps your chest look less wide. A jacket that is tailored to nip in at the waist is very flattering. Blouses need to fit with the shoulder seam in the correct place. You may need to have your blouses tailored to fit your shoulders and bust, as many times if a shirt fits at the bust, it will be too large in the shoulders. Low cut styles do not look sophisticated on a larger bust, IMO, but an off the shoulder style can look nice on some body types.

I couldn't agree more about the 'sausage styling'. Many people either don't realize (or couldn't care less) that each different size and cut of a particular item will look flattering on some body types and not others. I haven't worn jeans in many years, but as a 5'2" woman with an 'apple' shape and a short torso, finding a flattering pair was always a challenge. I notice the clinging-like-a-coat-of-paint look on so many women wearing jeans (not saying that men can't wear ill-fitting clothes too, but I pay more attention to women's styles). I suspect that some would like to pass up their jeans for more elegant/classic clothing, but are reluctant to stand out. I feel life is too short to wear ubiquitous jeans or always 'dress down' if one doesn't want to.
I think a motorcycle jacket is a staple, but as you say, the overall look, the quality of the fabric and the cut are important. It also depends what the person wears it with. Accessories and shoes can make or break an outfit.

But I don’t want to spend so much money on it now, I have been *yutulu* buying the bag I want, it is as good as LV and is one of my favorite things. Durability
Moto jackets haven’t felt current to me for several years now. I’m keeping mine because good leather is expensive, but I’m much more likely to wear a leather blazer, or other style jacket, these days.
I notice most of the "checked prints" that don't work are large and loud contrast, intentionally. The classic ones are very small and subtle, just past the category of solids.
Hello Anna! I agree with you in most items but the last one. The denim skirt might look outdated in its mini version, yet not in the midi one. Plus the 2000s one was low rise, when now is mid or high rise and has belt loops. A belt always adds elegance! So, well combined and in a more current style the denim skirt is definitely a Do! Take it, for example, with a good quality shirt and knee high boots. Moreover, add a proper jacket to it. Exudes relaxed elegance!
No horizontal stripes ? My french self is crying 😂 More seriously, Anna, you get a point, thin stripes are not very "trendy"... we tend to chose striped patterns with thicker stripes. It looks more modern for sure ! 🙏
There are these jackets used here in Slovenia, in the mountains, they look so cheap and kind of like you were wearing a plastick bag. That needed to be on your video😆
About the colours of pumps (or shoes in general) I believe the DEPTH of the colour is the key not the colour itself. On the examples you show is noticeable. Bubblegum coloured pump in a flat/shallow tone is tacky but in a depth tone, is nice. Same with blue/green. Like paintings. You know a painter is good when their paintings have a depth to it, like you can enter it, and is not a flat, childish like paint. And a painter is excelent if it can paint light and water.
My dad was definitely a fan of the classic elegant look, and even in the late 90's and early 2000's, he hated his daughters wearing jeans shirts. And they were definitely very big during that time frame
I would add to the list any washed down t shirt, a hoodie, leggings and old sneakers combination..so many people wear this uniform on a casual day- it looks like they stepped out of their home while doing deep cleaning…
Unfortunatly this is me...mostly because i only own old worn out sneakers/nikes. Today i bought a new beautiful bag. Next time new beautiful shoes to look better/more polished and feminine.
I agree on the black horizontal stripe. I purchased a sleeveless tee last year in that stripe and for some reason I just didn't like myself in it. I do however love the way I look in blue striped tees and sweaters. What is it about that? Gave my skinny jeans up and I used to have colorful straight leg jeans. Gave those up as well. I felt frumpy in them. I am almost 68 years old and new to your channel. I want to look relevant and I love the classic looks. I agree that the checked and plaid blazers are classic and will always be. I am all about comfort and balance in shoes, so I don't wear heels anymore.
I love wearing my skinny jeans. I'm 5'11'' (1,80 m) tall and I have thin legs. I feel so good wearing the skinny jeans. However, I also like nice larger trousers and I enjoy watching your fashion tips videos!

Hi Anna, may i correct you on one thing? It's not jean, it's jeans. Even when you talk about one. It's always one pair/two pair of jeans. Not one jean. Don't skip the 's' and the end. Thank you 😊.
I suggest to shop at your relatives and friends. Grandmas, mamas and mothers in law or aunts have often times beautiful pieces to share or borow. And always a nice story to talk about that fashion item.
People are going to fight you over the skinny jeans! LOL I still love the look of them on everyone! I wore mine with a pair of Dr. Martens, an Adidas blackwatch plaid bomber jacket, hair in a pony tail and makeup. I got lots of looks and I am 64!! Oh, not so elegant but youthful and fun to wear.
Oh the skinny jean, the only style I can wear for my short, slim but curvy bottomed frame 🥲I love wearing them with knee high boots though. I managed to find some skinny trousers that are actually more of a slim fit which are amazing and don't suffocate my ankles but those are a rare find. Usually 'slim-fit' look more 'straight' on my skinny legs and make me look like a wardrobe. The struggle is real.
I have bought my first denim skirt in 3 decades just now. It's from Sandro new collection and believe me it's very well made, short but not too short and in a strong and very good fabric. Looks modern but not "trendy" like those midi and straight ones from last year you could see on so many (young) women. 😝
That waterfall jacket is beautiful. I'm Kibbe Soft Natural and Soft Autumn, and have been using your advise, mixing it with that. My frame looks softer. Most people I know are Soft Natural and having a jacket that flatters your shape really does ++ to the look. Hello, Anna! I MISSED U!
Thank you for your great styling advise. I really learned so much and I love your style! I am looking now for fabrics that look elegant, but are being produced in an animal friendly way. So no silk or cashmere or leather, for example. Do you may be have any recommendations for that?

I would love a video for women who want to look elevated but do not live in cities or stay at home mums where you want to look elegant but need to be able to cook/clean/ chase children/dogs ect 😂 Or is there a way to have a hard wearing elegant base that you can level up if you have to go to the shops ect?
By the way there are several elegant styles, you don't have to agree with her opinion. Wear what makes you feel good as long as you're respecting yourself.
Actually, it depends. The only light jacket I care to own is a vegan leather Moto in a soft caramel color, designed with a subtle corset style waist for femininity. If the fabric is thick enough, the color saturated enough and the fit is perfect, it doesn’t have to be genuine leather to look good.
I’m not a trend follower. It’s interesting that we get constrained by trends yet when clothing breaks the norm it’s called fashion forward. Please keep introducing your own style and don’t allow yourself to be suppressed by fashion mimicry.
Love these kind of videos! 🥰 I agree with everything except the skinny jean… I struggle understanding the issue with those. I understand they may not be the ideal choice for plus size ladies. They mostly look good on slim people with long legs, so if you are that type (me 😅), then what is the issue? I find that I actually look best with skinny jeans (slim at the most) and wider leg trousers just don’t look as good on me personally. It’s less about my personal opinion and taste - I love wider leg styles in general and on others, but my body really suits skinny jeans better, it brings out the best in me. And isn’t that ultimately the most important?
Phew, I can still wear my skinnies with knee high boots this winter. I just ordered a pair of Levis high waisted ones for exactly that purpose before watching this vid. Thank you ❤

Unpopular opinion: skinny jeans is one of the best cuts out there, they look way better than mom, boyfriend, distressed, straight fit, loose fit etc. jeans. But I don’t want to spend so much money on it now, I have been *yutulu* buying the bag I want, it is as good as LV and is one of my favorite things. Durability
I fill so well when I watch you and listen you. And I resonate with many of your points of view on styling.
I actually have been loving the denim skirts this year and even bought 3
Moto jackets haven’t felt current to me for several years now. I’m keeping mine because good leather is expensive, but I’m much more likely to wear a leather blazer, or other style jacket, these days.
I notice most of the "checked prints" that don't work are large and loud contrast, intentionally. The classic ones are very small and subtle, just past the category of solids.
Fashion and styling advice is my favorite Anna Bey content ❤
Naw a denim skirt will always make you look like a Pentecostal.
Anna, You're AMAZING!
I’ve missed these videos. I love the new more subtle Anna but I do love the fashion advice too
Kate Middleton still loves her skinny jeans...i like them too
kate doesn’t look good in them. Nobody does.
@@delythdavies4907 That's just not true. Some people do look amazing in them. And some people look terrible in straight pants.
No horizontal stripes ? My french self is crying 😂 More seriously, Anna, you get a point, thin stripes are not very "trendy"... we tend to chose striped patterns with thicker stripes. It looks more modern for sure ! 🙏
Anna you are amazing..thanks for sharing your style. ❤
There are these jackets used here in Slovenia, in the mountains, they look so cheap and kind of like you were wearing a plastick bag. That needed to be on your video😆
Anna, just live your videos! You are so classy and elegant, but down to earth at the same time! Live your insights! ❤😊
Anna I follow you for years never get tired of your knowledge ,Thank you for everything .Hugs from Canada ❤
“While doing deep cleaning “ so true! 😄
Sounds like it looks good on you! On me, skinny jeans definitely look like sausages hahaha
You're lucky. Try wearing those wide pants when you're exactly 5ft tall :-((
Such a valuable video! I don’t often promote books, but the book women’s magic truths on borlest is an exception. It’s packed with insights on wealth and self-care that are not widely known. All the best to everyone
Thank you. Good reminders.
I love your style tips! You are one classy lady!
The variety of textures in the *yutulu* pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
It’s shocking how Women’s Magic Truths on Borlest isn’t being discussed. The book is full of life-changing insights, yet no one seems to notice. Time to break the trance and read it yourself!
Hi Anna, may i correct you on one thing? It's not jean, it's jeans. Even when you talk about one. It's always one pair/two pair of jeans. Not one jean. Don't skip the 's' and the end. Thank you 😊.
Oh thank you!
I suggest to shop at your relatives and friends. Grandmas, mamas and mothers in law or aunts have often times beautiful pieces to share or borow. And always a nice story to talk about that fashion item.
This video is f a n t a s t i c! 🙌🏼
I love your taste. Also how you don't do "in/out" for its own sake...for the sake of exclusivity...or disposability...but more of a kaizen approach.
I love videos like this from you. They're short and sweet but very informative. Can't wait for the next one!
Love how you jump into the content and the pace is good too. Your photos help.
Hello there! It's incredible how we connect with strangers in unexpected ways. Although I don't usually do this, I couldn't help but reach out to you after seeing your comment. Could you tell me what you like to do in your spare time?
I would love a video for women who want to look elevated but do not live in cities or stay at home mums where you want to look elegant but need to be able to cook/clean/ chase children/dogs ect 😂 Or is there a way to have a hard wearing elegant base that you can level up if you have to go to the shops ect?
I have hated skinny jeans from the get go
By the way there are several elegant styles, you don't have to agree with her opinion. Wear what makes you feel good as long as you're respecting yourself.
Peace to you sister in Christ!
I disagree with the moto jacket. A real leather moto jacket is timeless. When it’s plastic (aka “pleather” or “vegan leather”), then it’s bad.
Love this video! Thank you🙏🙂 And I agree with everything!
Thank you ❤
Agree with you…it’s really hard to look classy in skinny jeans..I think the trend is over for now
It’s been a trend now for over a decade 🥲
I love striped shirts, horizontal and vertical. Horizontal T-shirts are good layering pieces..
Hi Anna, I hope you're doing well. I enjoy watching your videos. I had an idea for a video that I thought you might enjoy doing : Emily in Paris has been a topic of discussion for a while and I think it could be really fun if you did a style critique of her outfits. Thank you again for all your amazing content :)
I love you Ana but I can't ditch those denime skirts🤧 I love pairing them with elegant blazers instead haha
One of your best! 👏🏻 Thank you
Dear Anna, please make a video with elegance tips for healthcare workers 🙏🏻 Scrubs are part of my everyday uniform and I need to learn how to style them better.
Great video, thanks for this one. I agree on all point - I did buy a Moto jacket last year but it is a calf skin caramel colour and luckily looks amazing with all black or all white. My skinny jean love affair is definitely over and only worn if super dark and in winter with boots.
please do more about looking youthful. i'm 30, apple shape and i feel frumpy. i wear wrap style tops ans bootcut jeans but i just feel old haha
Oh please don't feel old. I am 55 and would not want to go back a day. Enjoy your time. Maybe seek out the Tracy Anderson exercise videos online for apple shaped ladies. Peace to you!
@@spirituallysafe thankyou so much!!
Unpopular opinion: skinny jeans is one of the best cuts out there, they look way better than mom, boyfriend, distressed, straight fit, loose fit etc. jeans.
As for leather jacket is just timeless no matter how often you see it, it can create so many looks depending with what is paired.
So wear whatever you like as long as you feel elegant and good, who cares 😅
@oanar1289 totally agree. Skinny jeans and leather jackets...I love love love. I care zero hoots about being told otherwise)
Suuuch a good video Anna ❤
Thank you so much Ms Anna❤
Loved the detailed video. Hoping you could do a video on wool items. For example, what styles are good and when to wear them. There are quality patterned sweaters but not sure if it’s elegant. When is it best to wear cardigans. Etc
Thank you Anna! ❤
Thank you Anna❤
Are you familiar with Kibbe body types? I feel like that’s a topic that you could really expound on for some content as well.
Yes! She should look into it. I'm convinced Anna is a FN with a curvy shape. I'm not surprised she hates skinny jeans on herself. She looks beautiful in unconstructed, flowy things i.e flowy pants 💖
Kibby is so dated and only fits a certain set body type it doesn't work for everyone. Especially not me.
Agreed. Soft Dramatic here. For me the Waterfall Jackets look good, because they flatter my body type, but I also agree that they look a bit dated.
We want a winter outfit video please 🙏🏾
Thank you Anna ❤
You are always On point ✨🌹🙏🏼
Amazing content in this video! I rarely suggest anything in comments, but the book women’s magic truths on borlest is a game-changer. It provides deep knowledge on wealth and self-care that can really make a difference. Take care, everyone
Agree about the fabric. It’s challenging to find natural fibers.
Quince! Natural, sustainable, fashionable, classy AND AFFORDABLE!
@ Thank you so much!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I don’t wear jeans at all. I don’t buy them , I don’t have them. I don’t think it’s a part of classy wardrobe. Initially it was created by farmers for working class.
I used to think this way too. After 5 years, i finally bought some 😂 i think i just had to find the right ones. 😊
Always had problem with colorful denim 🤔
Anna, this is truly amazing❤I mean the work tou do and all your teaching. ❤❤❤
