I have been honing my plane steels with diamond stones, lubricated with distilled water, ranging from coarse to extra-extra fine, in steps, then to the suede strip with pastes to get a mirror edge and sharp. No electricity required. But this system seems easier. Are finer grit stones available? Or would one need them? 220 grit is the grit of my coarsest diamond stone. I also us a veritas tool to set the correct angles

I love that question. I get asked how often I should sharpen my knife? I say that is like how often should I put gas in the car. It depends on how many things you sharpen and how dull they are to begin with. I use them in my sharpening business and some times they last 6 months, sometimes up to a year. I was wondering if a tormek sharpening machine can also sharpen some clipper blades.
