Over two years ago, an assembly of passionate carpenters from around Japan commenced building a school where craftspeople, woodworkers and artists from around the world can gather to learn, share and exchange skills, knowledge and cultures. Skyrocketing materials and construction costs have impacted its progress and support is now sought through a Kickstarter campaign at kck.st/3CugzfO

    No mention of lower drive wheel alignment. It too can cause drift.

    I put a square on the table and against the back of the blade. If the blade is 90 degrees to the table, then it’s in the right place on the wheel rim. I found the back-of-the-gullets-on-the-rim-crown doesn’t work for the wider re-saw blades.

    Don't forget to check that the two wheels are coplanar when you first get your band saw. This is easy before the table is mounted and adjusted. The wheels on my bandsaw were out of plane with each other and had to be realigned. Doing this will make the "drift" problem easier to correct. I used the instructions from Michael Fortune to set my band saw up. Works perfectly with no further adjustments since. I do check for drift each time I change blades. So far, none.

    Thank you Steve, what a great help especially when it is very expensive to get the exotic wood and you have made it affordable to everyone, thank you. A well known guitar company in their old days they have used Higgins Ink to uniformly stain the ebony fretboards, hope this is helpful to everyone. Thank you. Merry Christmas and happy new year Steve and everyone. ☕️ 🫖 🎄🎉🎄🎉🎄🎉

    This is clever and I'd think simpler than the Maloof joint but I don't see how it could be stronger. The comparable Maloof joint is keyed on 3 sides, as opposed to these 2 keys, with more glue area than this joint. I think that both this new joint and the Maloof joint are good designs useful on many applications. The Maloof joint has glued surfaces on more planes perpendicular to each other and thus adds to the overall joint strength. I do like your design and your video.

    • @skwalka6372
      @skwalka6372 5 місяців тому

      You are right, however, the difference in strength is much greater than you imagine, in favor of the Maloof joint. The Maloof joint isn't just keyed in more directions, it is a sort of bridal 3d joint where both stresses and strains are distributed over a larger volume. It would be interesting to do a 3d finite elements analysis of the Maloof joint. To my knowledge, nobody has done that yet.

    This little band saw has turned out to be the best tool purchase I've ever made ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx5ZrqmYO2uJq_nuU8TopyWxVzn8vqmPUL Once doing the set-up as per the included suggestions, this table top tool has been my go-to saw ever since (8 months as of this review). There are few things I wouldn't attempt with this saw. It takes up much less space than my table saw yet delivers twice as much punch. I've used it to create slices of wood no thicker than an 1/16th of inch by using the POWERTEC BS900RF Rip Fence. For small shop projects this tool can't be beat.

    I enjoyed your video where you changed blades every 10 cuts and changed the battery every 20 cuts. Sanding every cut was needed I know. Setting the nails to 2mm is also cute. Slow motion brings it all to perfection. I especially enjoy looking at the bodies of crickets under a microscope.

    Thank you very much Ian. I've tried your "recipe" and it does work well. Just one thing, I've made a die for a 16mm rod and my router tends to burn it. Maybe the bit is a bit cheap, or maybe I didn't let the rod in the linseed oil long enough, but do you recommend a special speed for the router to do this job? Thanks again. Aldo, from France

    Would be interested to know what you think about the “Little Ripper” video, that basically the main thing that causes the cut not to be straight , is that when you cut close to the fence, the tension released during the cut often makes the cut open up, which pushes against the fence to make it not cut straight. That didn’t come out as clear cut as I hoped . Bloody beer strikes again. He released the blade tension and made a cut, still perfect.

    Halo My name is Abdullah from the State of Kuwait I watched the video on your channel and the explanation is good and understandable I have an inquiry. I will buy a band saw, which is almost the same as the specifications of our saw, but its size is between large and medium, because I have a small workshop in my house The question regarding the saw weapon is whether the thick size is better or the thin size is better With work, my most practical thing is to cut the wood with the text, I mean in two halves that The chainsaw to be purchased must be installed, the weapon is open, and its teeth are smooth Note: I am an amateur, not a professional. Thank you I wish you safety and security my regards
