Lisa Stansfield is a British artist. She is very well known in the UK. My older sister, who passed away when we were young, became a huge fan after being introduced to her music when we lived in the UK. She used to play her tapes nonstop. I knew Lisa Stansfield songs before I knew who Lisa Stansfield was. Her first single from this album "This is the right time" was a massive hit in the UK. She was very well regarded in the UK. At one point this was said to be one of the most sampled songs in hip hop. She is much respected in hip hop an rnb communitues. As well as, the US dance music community. She's had several #1 dance track. She had a remake of Barry White's "never never gonna give you up." It got heavy rotation on BET and urban radio stations. One of her most powerful songs was an early 90's ballad called "All woman." It didn't make a mark in the UK or US that I thought it would, but it's a powerful song--both message and vocal wise. I think it was just a case of right song, wrong time.
Lisa was heavily influenced by Barry, which is why she did the talking opening on this track. It was a homage to White’s signature opening on many of his songs.
Dude!!! THIS SONG was EVERYTHING!!! I always laugh about working in a record store and trying to convince people that this little white English girl was who sang this song!! We still jam to this tune at afterparties!!!
This is my song. I have a running joke with this song. She mentions she don’t know why he left but she previously mentions that she did some much lying and wasted time lol. She had them edges laid
I love me some Lisa Stansfield!! She is one soulful lady!! Please react to her song called "One Woman...correction "All Woman", it's a slower jam and fire as hell!!
When people first heard her they thought she was Black, they were stunned to find out she wasn't. She also appeared at The Apollo Theater in the 1980's. It was a Hit on The Pop Charts #3 and went to Number One on The Dance & R & B Charts. She was one of the very few White Artists to have her Songs on R & B Radio. She was also voted by Vibe Magazine as one of the best Blue Eyed Soul Singers of all time. She also Co Wrote this Song which means she gets "Writer's Royalties" she also did her version of Barry White's "Never Gonna Give You Up" and if his Estate still owns the Song she put some Bank in his Account.
She was also nominated for the 2 awards that Mariah won during the 1991 grammys. Lisa's voice, especially during her prime, was peak sophistication. She just sounded EXPENSIVE. And when she sings, she's great at hiding her very thick English (Rochdale) accent that's instantly evident when she speaks. She sounds very convincing and her performances are always emotionally charged. Please check out her songs CHANGE, ALL WOMAN, YOU CAN'T DENY IT, REAL THING, SET YOUR LOVING FREE, and NEVER, NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP. You won't regret it.
As soon aa I saw you sample Lisa Stansfield I had to listen. This song is incredibly sexy. And what amazing vocals. AMAZING AMAZING. First time here. I'll be coming back and I will support you. You have incredible energy and know how to enjoy the great. Thanks great job
looked through my recommendations, saw this, said, “aww shit”, clicked, and immediately liked.. Make sure you listen to Barry White’s actual original version. Edit: Well shit. Wiki says This is her song. She wrote it. Barry white didn’t do it first. But She was inspired by him when she wrote the song And she did a duet with him after. Check that out
Lisa Stansfield is big fan of Barry White...she even has video if her singing this with him. Also check her out on Showtime at The Apollo doing this song...the audience went crazy.
I used to listen to this album in my grade 12 double math class, on my WALKMAN. I hid one ear bud under my hair. I still have the cassette. This whole album slaps 🙌🏼
Her style is where Madonna got her Erotica look from. Speaking of Madonna, you should react to music from her Bedtime Stories era. The pop fused with R&B would be something you’d love. Secret and take a bow are the best songs.
British rnb was thriving at the time. Personally the best from that time were Soul II Soul (Back to Life, Keep on moving). Also, Omar with Nothing Like This. Neo soul artists in the U.S. have acknowleged his influence. Other british rnb acts Mica Paris (you are my one sensation), Gabrielle (Dreams) Desre'e (Feel so high), Beverley Knight (Flavour of the old school, Made it back) and the old school banger "Hanging on string" by Loose Ends.
I was born in 83, I use to be singing Been around the world and ay yah yah yah, and I can't find my baby, and I literally was a baby! This is a whyte gurl with soul, very much Tina Marie cousin!
Another great Lisa song which was a huge hit is called "Change". I also love So Natural, Live Together, Set Your Loving Free and Never, Never Gonna Give You Up with Berry White. That´s super soulful and funky. I also love "The Line", that´s funky.
P.Diddy did sample this song but the original was by the daddy himself, the late Barry White ! Nice channel with great content from a nice fella. Cheers !!
Lisa Stanfield is still a favorite singer, this should have done long ago. She has a lot of great songs. Check out her remake of Phyllis Hyman's " You know how to love me"!
PDiddy sampled the hook of this song but the rhythm to Puffs been around is a sample from David Bowie’s lets dance. Please can you react to All woman by Lisa Stanfield
Oh I love Lisa! Thank you for reacting to this. This was at the beginning of her career. She had a lot of fantastic hits. Try „ this is the real thing“
Definitely check out Usher - Nice & Slow; Ginuwine- Wait a Minute; 112 - Your Letter; Dru Hill - The Love we had Stays on my Mind. I think only 2 of these have actual videos, just a few songs I haven’t seen a reaction to. Also you are the only reactor who does an excellent job doing R&B I barely see any other reactors who actually do R&B/Slow Jam songs.
Another win for the channel lol. This song will always be in my music library, always. I've been hearing it since I was a little kid and now as an adult listening on my own...perfection. "All Around the World" is Lisa's Grammy-nominated second single from her debut album Affection (1989), which she also co-wrote with Ian Devaney and Andy Morris. All three songwriters received the 1989 Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. Fun facts: Lisa was born and raised in Manchester, England. She married Ian Devaney in 1998. Please react to: Lisa Stansfield - The Real Thing, Change, Never Never Gonna Give You Up, Baby Come Back Katy B - Katy on a Mission, Perfect Stranger (with Magnetic Man), Broken Record, Easy Please Me Simply Red - Holding Back the Years, Stars, If You Don't Know Me by Now, Sunrise Laura Welsh - Break the Fall, Cold Front, Hardest Part (feat John Legend) Amy Winehouse - Stronger Than Me, In My Bed, Mr Magic (Through the Smoke)
This song is a classic and will stay a classic for eternity.
No lie detected here
Not only is it a classic, it’s timeless.
Her performance of this song at the Apollo is legendary
When this song was released in late 1989 some people thought that she was black until they saw the music video and was shock in 1990
Yup, very true
Especially when she went on Apollo...She tore that stage up
@@johnlewis195 …AND had everyone at The Apollo on their feet. Everybody knows The Apollo is a *TOUGH* crowd.
I did, but in my defense I was a kid lol
@@MrMoorEnt I miss show time at the Apollo
Rip to my mom this was her favorite song. She had it on repeat everyday all day.
RIP to your mom, sorry for your loss. This song is one of my mom's favorites too and I think about her when I hear this song as well.
@@alysiajackson596 thank you! It’s a good song

I love how honest and soul bearing she is... "I did too much lying, wasted too much time..." Makes for such good song writing to be that honest...
Yes! I've loved this song for years. She did a remix of this song with Barry White.
Lisa was heavily influenced by Barry, which is why she did the talking opening on this track. It was a homage to White’s signature opening on many of his songs.

You will find the best of Lisa Stainsfields at the show presented at Live at Ronnie Scott's, 2002
Her style is where Madonna got her Erotica look from. Speaking of Madonna, you should react to music from her Bedtime Stories era. The pop fused with R&B would be something you’d love. Secret and take a bow are the best songs.

Lots of early 90s British pop music used strings.
Yeah. This was a huge hit back in the day.
Ah, Tenderly, A Little More Love, and All Woman.
Please react to her song "All Woman". Always blows me away.
High School days this was played all the time❤️
This is taking back to my childhood as a kid in late 89/90 she still releases music .
An absolute classic. One of the best singers from the UK. Also this she also lived at the time 11 miles away from me.
Love this song...certainly stands the test of time.
Always fun to watch you enjoying classic 90s
