So the grandson sold the farm that had been in the family 4 generations to property developers.
I think it's too step before losing the farm. People call in people to strip the trees so they can take that money to keep the farm. It's the next generation or two that sells the entire farm to land developers. They did all they could to stay in their land, but by selling off the trees, the farm eats itself. Generational land suicide.

I'm not worried about leaving money to anyone bc the truth is, NO ONE that ones hard work and sacrifices CARE how hard you worked and sacrificed for it! They will go through it quicker than a tornado spending it thinking NOTHING about the cost of its laboured! VERY SAD actually what money does even to the best of people!! For the LOVE of money is the Root of ALL evil!

The 4 generation farm part makes me cry. My Dad, whose grandpa bought the farm for his mom and dad as their wedding gift, is in the process of trying to sell 3/4 of it. The lines to me are showing the loss of heritage and culture, an era slowly winding down.
Most people can't afford the TAXES on the land...its a dame shame. This country has gone down the drain...

4 generation's farming the ground ,grandson sells to a man outa town ,2 weeks later trees go down ,nothing but concrete growing around ,💔,I watched my family's farm get broken up after my grandpa,my dad and my uncle died it's heart breaking,,we were poor but I never grew up feeling like we were ,growing up playing out in the fields or the barn with my cousins my grandparents aunts uncles surrounding me those were the best days of my life and this song hits hard

A family that has lived and owned the same land for 4 generations, then the grandchildren sell the farm to the rich man from out of town. Then the Richman tears the trees and the farm up to put in a subdivision, apartment complex, or whatever. Breaks the heart of people who love the land and have had to experience that pain. I love what you do. If you are truly thinking about moving south, East Tennessee is beautiful.

It's a huge problem here in the southwest. Kids selling off family farms and ranches to developers because there's no money in farming and ranching for the small independents, and the farmland and free range keeps getting swallowed up by the concrete jungle.
Alot of homesteaders are using UA-cam to market/earn an income to support their property management/development...so hopefully that trend will continue so they can stay in the family.
When says “son , we’re on the brink of the next world war .” It vibrates through my soul , he’s having a serious heart to heart with the common man , unite , love each other , stop letting the division go on .

what I find so interesting ,well one of the things ,is how his music touches young men in paticulare
, it really is universal in that way .I have two sons that are now young men ,and I worry about their mental health. I had no idea what the stats were for young men or just men killing themselves were until Oliver starting singing .Its very unusual to see men saying exactly how they feel about life with honesty and emotion ,I think it is wonderful that men are making a connection with each other, not feeling so alone ,like global group therapy or even a prayer group. Just found your channel tonight, new sub. You've done a lot of really good songs.
I love this song and begging to be taken home to me hits hard if you've ever been in the dark place of no longer wanting to exist. I've been battling my spirituality my whole life but ever since I've learned to be honest with everything in my life including myself and just asking for guidance looking up at the night sky I believe someone or something up there has been giving me signs and direction. I've been fighting alcoholism since 21 and im 31 but who or what ever is looking out for me I feel that I am building some type of connection by not begging but just asking "God" to show me the way and how to be better.

Heavenly home and home to how much simpler life was, people were more respectful, more nature, less concrete, helping each other out, God was first, family could afford their farms and keep it for generations, lower prices and taxes.

Something interesting that I have noticed. I don't know exactly why but on many reactions to this song that I've watched, people talk about the opening and closing line and I've noticed a pattern of how few people seem to hear the "Good Lord" part of it. A few people commented on him mentioning his dogs, and another mentioned he said his dogs and the church, another said that he says his dogs and family and friends. Its pretty wild to me.

The buyer comes in and tears all the trees down and starts take the woods and make it some development..(pouring cement around). So basically he feels they are taking away his memories and way of life…40 years of farming.

Yeah that part about concrete being poured around…he’s saying that 4 generations of family farmer the ground to make a living an build a life for their future generations, but the grandchild sells it so a business man from outta town who cuts everything down and turns it in to a business park or a parking lot etc and all of it goes to shit. It happens all over. So damn sad!
