That repeating scene is so good, I cannot find the cut or mask. It's pissing me off. EDIT: Nevermind, you can see that white book in the top right snap shut. But everything else works so well. Well done Philip!
Philip. I've been a fan of you for a long time now, and have also suffered from similar sleeping issues. Honestly, your sleep disruption videos have connected with me like nothing I've ever watched before. The way you explain things, the way you talk about how your mind tricks you into thinking you are visualising things correctly when you are in fact not - it's really made me understand dreams and the thoughts you get in them a lot better. Thank you. I feel like I understand my brain a lot better after seeing this.
I completely agree. Especially with the Tetris-effec thing. freaky stuff. Also with the thing where I try to make a fake dream with weird scenes that don't make any sense in order to trick my brain into falling asleep.
I don't get that music thing you're talking about, but when I'm REALLY tired I sometimes have my mind start "remembering" random conversations that never happened. Not even conversations. Just voices that I know (friends', family's, etc.) saying complete nonsense. I literally put no effort into it; it's as if it's not even me doing it, it's like I'm listening to it actually happening (except it's in my head, obviously). My favourite one was when my best friend said "your Facebook almost killed me".
Well, it's probably kind of same thing. I had exactly same thing with that music, and when i had that conversation stuff once, when i haven't slept for a long time. Music thing is like right before you sleep; you are feeling like you are really close to dream.
I actually get those kind of "conversations" too. Another interesting thing that happens to me, is when I'm really tired, it sounds like a TV is on in another room with a talkshow/news broadcast playing. I never discern what is said, and when I realize the sound is playing it fades off.
Same here, allupro. The difference for me is that it doesn't fade. It continues there, like there was something really loud or people screaming to each other... I can stop it most of the times by making an actual sound, like snapping my fingers, so I can differ my thoughts from reallity... It's scary when it isn't enough to get rid of it tho...
Sleeping makes my life sad too. I get night terrors, like hallucination things. What kinda helped me to stop getting them was by stopping myself from putting all of my clothes on my chair because that triggered those hallucinations even more
I really think you could present some TV shows or something like a documentary, you're great at writing amazing stuff which really gets people thinking. Keep up the great work man, your content matches V-Sauce in terms of value and meaning, that's how good it is.
-T-X-M- well, vsauce has said that he uses that "clickbait" topics in order to teach about things that a lot of people wouldn't think of learning (i think it was in a ted talk)
charliemw3 yeah I saw the Ted talks you are referencing. He said not much people willingly click a video to learn something so he had a short deep question as the title to intrigue viewers
It's especially worse when you have the tetris effect and it's wrong like the thing thats repeating isn't working right and is confusing and frustrating even more than it by itself.
Bruh, these videos are the best I love the exploration of the human mind. There is so much stuff Happening in our own minds that we're not even aware of its crazy
I love that moment right before falling asleep in which your thoughts start to become a nonsensical mess, but you still are aware that they are nonsense and that you are most likely seconds away from actually sleeping.
I noticed that radio thing last night, I just started hearing random voices and sounds about totally different things. It was pretty cool but when you concentrate on it, it goes away.
4:03 I've had this for as long as I can remember, and I agree that it's one of the most reassuring things that can happen when I'm trying to sleep. I sometimes feel even a little sad if I interrupt it but most of the time it comes back shortly and before I know it I'm asleep.
I always get the "distant radio" thing when I'm trying to sleep too! For me its always filled with sounds that happened that day like distant yelling from down the street or indistinguishable chatter from a crowd-- except when I try to listen or understand I suddenly snap out of it. Thanks for talking about all of this kliksphilip I haven't had anyone else to relate to about these things.
Six years since i first watched this video, and gotta say, it resonates with me more and more withg age. All the tricks to get yourself to sleep, tried, failed, and some succeded, over many years. Similar to your music arriving, the best feeling when im nearly fallen asleep, is that abstract arf of anything and everything just appears without me having to think of it, and fatser than i could have imagined it. All to do then, is to wait for sleep to embrace me
WHAT an appropriate time to see this upload. Thank you Philip, I've had these issues for such a long time in the past, and they had finally gone away for quite some time... Up until recently. 2 days ago, in fact. Hearing your account of your own experience with this makes me feel much less alone. Thank you.
Definitely the weirdest experience was when I was playing a piano in a dream. I remember thinking the tempo was off, and then I couldn't even press down on the keys
So glad to hear someone else has the "listening to a radio" experience. Everyone I've spoken to about it thinks I'm mad. Best way I've found to trigger it is to lay still and listen as if you're trying to hear a faint sound in the distance and see what your brain comes up with. Often it starts with familiar peoples voices saying entirely random words or phrases and sometimes I can get it to produce random musical rhythms. The closer to completely random and entirely "unconjured" the sounds feel, the closer you are to your own personal concert!
Can relate a lot to the subconscious radio. Weirdest feeling is when you are already in that zone and slowly you feel that floaty feeling, realising you're just dreaming. Then suddenly that feeling rushes on to that weird falling sensation and you violently twitch back into reality!
A weird thing happens to me every night that prevents me from falling asleep the first time around. About 3 minutes after my body has basically fallen into that "sleep mode" you were talking about (I always lay in bed and fall asleep completely still), and my eyes have fallen asleep, my mind thinks that my body is falling (or something like that) and I feel like I'm rushing through the air and about to hit the ground, and this happens every single night. Its really strange, and is the only reason I've had a problem sleeping since I was 7.
The trick is to stay awake while you fall asleep. I have only managed once, when I was trying to sleep while very angry/grumpy. The sensation was like my body became weightless and lifted straight up. It made me understand why people imagine them being abducted by aliens.
feel like philip is one of the few persons who could actually relate to my sleep problems.. ..somehow good to know im not alone with that crap, even tho i wouldnt wish it anyone~
strange stuff like this only happens to me while sleeping during daytime. I took a nap on the couch at a lan larty last year after being awake for like 40 hours, and suddenly I felt like I was in the other room, watching the guys play. then it turned around and I saw myself, lying on the couch and sleeping. that was creepy af.
literally took the words out of my mouth dude! The only difference is that when when I lay completely still, I still do have that hovering feeling, but often an endless falling feeling as well, but again, its more reassuring and pleasant rather than scary.
really cool to hear these stories and your thoughts as i often experience strange and surreal things like this and relating to dreams i have OCD and this often manifests in my dreams by experiencing only things that make sense to me and my imagination, but without me even knowing it in the moment one of the most common odd dream phenomenon i come across is the sensation that im not the same person i am in real life in my dream like for example i might not know some of the things i do normally, have different memories, feel differently about certain things, know people ive actually never seen before, etc. its all very interesting but at the same time it can leave you feeling like you're losing your mind.
*clever comment about the video and how nice it is to watch a guy telling about his dreams * pls dont let us wait so long mr klikphilip enjoing much +*
You're the only channel that makes shit like this and I love it. Can't see anything like this anywhere else. I even watched all your CS:GO videos without even playing CS:GO
I love these videos because I will rarely have something similar to these, but one thing that I noticed I can do (which I'm not sure if a lot of people can or not) is put my self in a sort of half asleep state. I do it during school and I can listen to lessons and get the general idea, but I'm also still asleep. If I'm asked a question while asleep in this state, I wake up and answer them like I wasn't even asleep. It's also fun to have dreams like this because they seem to be more vivid than a dream while I'm sleeping normally.
I really enjoy this sleep series thing. I'm not dealing with those kinds of experiences with dreaming etc. but it's very interesting to see this though. Especially since you seem to deal with it in such a calm and rational manner. I'm very similar in that regard. I rarely if ever panic, or worry about something. I'm younger though so that might also play a part but it's nice seeing someone with a similar mindset.
It is scarry how relatable these videos are for me... also, the "radio station", I have it all the time, as some sort of side effect of training mysf so hard to imagine stuff, the thing you said about your game, when I draw, I'm just tracing over what I visualise, but I most of the time have to simplifie it a lot, I'm not a great drawer, I also imzgine what I wright about and play the games I design before putting them in game design documents, or re dive in an old game I imagined and forgot about, by browsing my hdd.
Its hard to explain why but I love these videos, the style you make them in and the music creates a nice sense of nostalgia. I remember when I was younger experiencing something like the music you heard, it'd be a distant sound that sounded almost like the incomprehensible background chatter of a call centre, I must have been around 6 or 7 at the time. It looks pretty stupid or fake writing it out, but this video really brought me back to the time as a child where I struggled with sleep.
This series is so he genuinely fantastic. I'd go so far as to say they are the best videos on UA-cam, and if I had to give a reason why, it's the feeling they have. Everything adds to it, the content, the way you present it your classic music. Sleep is such an interesting topic to me, and I just thank you so much for being a Creator and for this series in particular
OMG the music/song/radio thing you talk about is actually exactly what I feel. Sort of feels like I'm just starting to hear the dialogue/music of a dream.
The explanation given when you were describing your endless/pointless thoughts and ponderings that prevented you from falling asleep is the same reason I have trouble simply falling asleep, as it often takes me an hour or two sitting in bed before I can drift off. Interesting though to hear about your subconscious and that faint radio that begins to play when sleep is near. I personally haven't experienced anything like this, but sometimes when I'm nearing sleep, it feels as though my eyes start to focus heavily on something, or that it's straining hard to see something in the distance (even if my eyes are closed). It's hard to explain it, as both those examples aren't quite accurate, but it's the best relatable sensation I can give.
If you or anyone here has sleep problems i would try melatonin which you can get on ebay from america if you are in the uk. I used to have insomnia so got this and i can now get to sleep in like 5 mins. Its actually amazing. Definitely recommend it. It also keeps you more awake in the day because it gives you more of a hormone which makes it so when it is bright, you are more awake and when it is dark you are more asleep.
I found it amazing how i could relate to the "song" part, this often happens to me when i get home and go take a nap, i really feel the "fantasy boost" its amazing when it happes. I never actually thought about that before.
I totally understand the musicbox and voices thing - when I'm laying half-awake I sometimes hear extremely vivid musical segments or someone calling my name; however, usually they're so vivid that I jolt and wake myself up again and the phenomenon is over.
Just today I had a really weird dream, or nightmare... Well, I was in a random house with random people, then I suddenly see people with guns breaking the windows and shit to enter, I was the only one that noticed, I tried to tell them what I saw but I couldn't more or talk or scream, after a few seconds that felt like hours trying to move and talk I knew I was a nightmare, like you know you're dreaming then get a lucid dream but with a nightmare, and I coulnd't do what I wanted, it was just a really scary and vivid nightmare, pretty weird right? all I could do is close my eyes (and probably cry in agony) so I wake up, then I woke up in a lucid dream (yay) and a girl sucked me really good :D Conclusion: If you close your eyes when you're having a terrible nighmare you will get rewarded with a lucid dream!!! Damn that's weird, I've also heard it can happen the other way around, you're happy with a lucid dream then it turns into a really really vivid nightmare
I still relate very much with these videos. The radio and voices thing especially, I remember thinking that was something everybody experienced when they were about to fall asleep, but when I told my mum about it she legitimately thought I was going insane lol
Thank you a lot for this video Phillip! Even though I have never suffered from serious sleep disruption, I can really relate to this video, and it is nice and inspiring to hear someone else put words on it. I guess the tetris-effect is kind of what happens to me when I have fever dreams. In my dream I have to do some never ending task and somehow that task is connected with my sleep. I had one where i had to complete impossible levels in Portal, and I would only get "rewarded" with sleep if I completed them. When i woke up and went to the toilet I felt like i hadn't slept at all. Even though I knew it was irational I just couldn't get the connection between Portal and sleep out of my head, and the dream continued when i went to bed again. I have also had ones which included math or playing music or other things i don't remember as well. I also expirience the "hearing music" when i am about to fall asleep. I rarely notice it beginning but I often notice it disapearing if I become more awake. I also find it very comfortable, because I know it is connected to the phase where my thoughts become more abstract and strange just before falling asleep. By the way I find these videos about sleep disruption scary as hell. I am definitely not watching the next one just before going to bed as I have done with this one. Good night!
People talking about fucked up sleep or fever dreams is so comfy for me. Really can't tell why. When you are sick or really tired in bed it sucks but thinking of such scenes is so wholesome.
I sometimes hear sound when I'm in bed too. It's a different sound every time it happens, but on any particular night, the sound doesn't change. It's not music though, just noises. The two that I can remember are the sounds of someone walking up some stairs, and a friend of mine laughing. He has a very distinct and contagious laugh, so when I heard it on the edge of my mind I knew who it was straight away. The weird thing was, the sound of his laughter coming from inside my head got louder, until one that sounded so loud it snapped me fully awake. I stopped hearing it after that and went to sleep.
Hey Philip, your part about feeling judged got me to write this. A lot of what you talk about in this and the previous sleep video rings true with experiences and thoughts about sleep as a phenomenon I had myself. In fact, even the part about feeling judged about it when sharing it with a larger audience than just a few close friends or in person. I myself have had several experiences with sleep paralysis and the halucinations that often accompany them. Sometimes these hallucinations were just really elaborate nightmares that felt amazingly real, but other times they were experiences I could only describe as being "Religious" even though I myself consider myself completely non religious. I have kinda lost the point of where I wanted to go with this, guess that your sharing of your (somewhat similar) experiences got me to share mine. Just wanted to let you know that I think these videos are really interesting (your other normal videos are awesome too btw), not a lot of content creators would make something like this. Keep on klikking!
Also, it's interesting you say that you are not on drugs while experiencing these things. I can relate completely to every thing you have said in this video, but not since being a recreational smoker. When I was younger I would lie in bed for perhaps an hour or two before drifting off, my mind constantly thinking about some circumstance or adventure or experience, or as you have said the minds radio station. I am sure I have listened to entire songs in my head that were inspired by whatever genre of music I was into at the time. But they were full songs with verses, breaks and multiple instruments. Made by my subconscious and yet I would still have some sort of conscious influence over what direction the tune would take. However I couldn't focus on it too much or the radio would turn off, just as if a real radio had turned off it would leave a tangible silence. Brains are mental!
This is perhaps my favorite kind of content. Talking about our mind and the things so close to us yet unexplained as of now. I can imagine a future human civilization having solved this mystery and found ways to use it recreationally, or for medicine, or something I cant comprehend. Its a proper feeling of spiritual whilst not being religious or supernatural. Just spiritual in the poetic sense that nature has given us.
This is a type of video that is hugely under appreciated on UA-cam, It's kind of disappointingly that this is how it is
I'd love more content like this.
but YOU also dont want this video to have 9 million views, random dislikes and comments from kids going "xD" on a meaningful video
Anthony Martin That would be pretty shit and is inevitable but it I still think it's a good trade off
420 lines, wanna click like but dont wanna ruin it xDDDD
Conquirer dispointingly
I require an hour loop of you going into a room.
ten***
my head hurts after that one
Do you want the audio repeating for an hour? throughout the 1 hour?
someone upload it so i can download it illigal and make a 10h loop of it
EXPECT THE 1 HOUR LOOP TODAY
That repeating scene is so good, I cannot find the cut or mask. It's pissing me off.
EDIT: Nevermind, you can see that white book in the top right snap shut. But everything else works so well. Well done Philip!
I think that book has a magnet, MUAHAHAHAHAHAH I DESTROYED YOUR HOPE OF FINDING THE CUT
But when it does snap shut he's already in the shot?
Yes I just stared at the loop, trying to find the cut for the first 1,5min. No idea what he was talking about.
+Owen The shot starts and ends when he's at the door. Not when he enters the frame.
SausageHead the top right card on the door flips closed when the scene resets.
I want Philip to be the narrator in a "Stanley Parable" or "The Beginner's Guide"-like game :')
Aww The Beginner's Guide :)
A mans slow descent into madness.
I
holy hell, that loop.
Shadow Fox Someone make a gif out of it please lol
I like the Ghost Fret avatar! :D
Dead Channel you made my day good sir
One of the sticky notes resets once he shuts the door. Immersion broken
its the booklet thing on the top right of the door

It's 3am here right now. Thanks for keeping me awake Philip...
I can confirm from 5:00 AM 30/08/2018. Still awake.
Instructions unclear, ended up in a garbage container.
I ended up waking in the back of an old car with an old lady and a male prostitute in the front.
Nope, you did it right.

This is my favourite 2kliksphilip video by far. Loving this mini-series
you and me are exactly alike my dude.
the kind of content that youtube NEEDS
The music at the start, ive always wanted a version that i could listen to, if anyone knows where i could find it that would be great!

It is scarry how relatable these videos are for me... also, the "radio station", I have it all the time, as some sort of side effect of training mysf so hard to imagine stuff, the thing you said about your game, when I draw, I'm just tracing over what I visualise, but I most of the time have to simplifie it a lot, I'm not a great drawer, I also imzgine what I wright about and play the games I design before putting them in game design documents, or re dive in an old game I imagined and forgot about, by browsing my hdd.
im not a stranger to you.. i am your viewer.
Imagine if Philip's Girlfriend is just like him only with a girl voice who also speaks super fast informative information doing weird videos
British Vsauce?

OMG the music/song/radio thing you talk about is actually exactly what I feel. Sort of feels like I'm just starting to hear the dialogue/music of a dream.
You'll make me start taking drungs with one of your videos like these...
Gentlemen Z Don't do drungs
Misty Meaners i drunged myself once not guud

Watching your videos almost makes me introspect and sets me on a different course for a while in life.
hey phillip have you tried meditation? it could help out tremendously
i'll join in with that recomendation. do it!
I'm spookd.
Everyone is
I resonate a lot with the half-asleep feeling, hearing vague music or hearint diatant voices
Why does Philip have the same Nicholas Cage barn as his brother kliksphilip?? Philip, did you steal from him again?
I used to hear someone walking on my gravel driveway. Same pace but never moving, it’s stopped now (maybe it was a child thing).
Try 3-6h of Sport a day. U`ll sleep like a baby.
It love how unique and off-topic from csgo Phillip's videos can be, these are my favourite kinds
If anyone else was wondering, the evidence of a frame cut in the loop is the top right paper.
dude I have the same shit happening to me
I found it amazing how i could relate to the "song" part, this often happens to me when i get home and go take a nap, i really feel the "fantasy boost" its amazing when it happes. I never actually thought about that before.
Hi (sorry for my bad English)
I totally understand the musicbox and voices thing - when I'm laying half-awake I sometimes hear extremely vivid musical segments or someone calling my name; however, usually they're so vivid that I jolt and wake myself up again and the phenomenon is over.
Just today I had a really weird dream, or nightmare...
Well, I was in a random house with random people, then I suddenly see people with guns breaking the windows and shit to enter, I was the only one that noticed, I tried to tell them what I saw but I couldn't more or talk or scream, after a few seconds that felt like hours trying to move and talk I knew I was a nightmare, like you know you're dreaming then get a lucid dream but with a nightmare, and I coulnd't do what I wanted, it was just a really scary and vivid nightmare, pretty weird right? all I could do is close my eyes (and probably cry in agony) so I wake up, then I woke up in a lucid dream (yay) and a girl sucked me really good :D
Conclusion: If you close your eyes when you're having a terrible nighmare you will get rewarded with a lucid dream!!!
Damn that's weird, I've also heard it can happen the other way around, you're happy with a lucid dream then it turns into a really really vivid nightmare
This is basically a form of meditation. Your brain shuts down just enough to wear you don't feel anything as vividly, and your much more relaxed.

Good night!

NEITHER ARE YOU, HAH
First to be forgotten.
So true
People talking about fucked up sleep or fever dreams is so comfy for me. Really can't tell why. When you are sick or really tired in bed it sucks but thinking of such scenes is so wholesome.
Ahhhh! I love these sleep videos Philip! I look forward to the third one! Thanks
I'm so hooked on your videos that are like this one and use the same kind of theme. It's just surprisingly interesting
Amazing content, all these information compiled with the jokes and trippy calm music are just perfect
Great video Philip, glad to hear that its not so unusual to experience auditory hallucinations before sleep as the people in the comments suggest.
Sometimes when I try to sleep I start remembering when years ago as a child kids said my name, like hearing voices in my head...
I use the same method of trying to fall asleep. The process that Philip depict is so vividly real.
