+TheWarped45 I can't speak specifically to that claim as I own no Mc equipment, but I will say that I believe a lot of people put New York Fishers in the second tier because of the extraordinary productiveness of Avery Fisher. What I mean is that I believe the engineering and construction was second to none despite the fact that Avery Fisher turned these out in far greater numbers than most tube equipment manufacturers did. Not only was Avery obsessed with quality, he was a hell of a business man as well. With so many Fishers out there, prices are a lot lower than Mc, Marantz, Quads, etc., but I believe Fisher made equipment as good or better than anyone.
+TheWarped45 Both Fisher and McIntosh made great equipment. I feel Fisher's best items are the 400CX-2 preamp, the FM-1000 or FM-200B tuners and the SA-100 EL84 amplifier. The X-1000, X-202B, KX-200 and X-100 are fantastic sounding integrated amplifiers if you don't want separates. McIntosh has the MC30 and MC225 as well as the MX-110Z and C22 which all have exceptional sound. Hard time saying which I prefer as I've listened to all for extended periods over the years. All have to be properly rebuilt to compare. I've owned a McIntosh MC275 as well as the Fisher SA-1000 and wasn't completely satisfied with either (except looks!). The lower and mid powered amplifier's have always sounded best to me.
TheWarped45 my dad has a like new fisher x202b fully restored with new authentic sounding parts I've also got a fisher x100b restored like new with authentic sounding parts in it
One of the best amps. Sounds just as good as their X-1000.
That unit almost looks like new, inside and out. You are very lucky to own this.
Amplificador fantástico. Abraço
Nice sound ! Great unit !
Nice. The amp is in exceptionally good condition.
I think fisher tops Mcintosh
I've been saying the same thing !! my Fisher X100 sounds better than my Mcintosh mc225 !!!
