I love how Hyram never assumes we know what he’s talking about. Every time he mentions an ingredient, even if he’s said it in previous videos, he still explains it’s benefits and what it is. This is so great bc some ppl may remember not not everyone does and I really learn from him
He sounds like a Virgo 🥰
More Virgo facts please thx
I’ve been doing skincare since quarantine started, and my acne has almost fully gone away thanks to you!!!
That makes me so happy!! So proud of you for sticking with it ❤️
What products do you use?
What products do. You use?
Probably eating better.
Yaaas! I find that the simpler the skincare is, the happier my skin feels. The times I've tried to introduce new and luxurious skin regimens, my skin would break out and hate me. 😂❤️
This is so me as well 😀
Yes!! I drool over the beautiful products but at the end of the day I know that anything fun breaks me out 😢
I completely AGREE with NOT needing face masks. When I first started my skincare obsession years ago I thought I needed face masks I quickly realized I didn't need them because I use gentle actives everyday and masks are just unnecessary PLUS I didn't enjoy the experience.
Thanks for watching and commenting ♥️ 👍

Ngaaaaaw
Thank god I'm not the only one that thinks thought this. Lol
Totally agree! It's about mental self care as well.
Like I get comments from snotty mothers at the school, and my own mother!!, about makeup like "ugh I couldn't be bothered to do makeup it's such a waste of time"... I'm it makes me feel good and if I feel good then I'm a better mom, mind your business Caroline... 😂
Thank you for confirming what I (unfortunately) learned from trial and error: a simple routine of good, simple products used consistently works much better than constantly bombarding my skin with multiple harsh and ever-changing formulas. I would like to see you do a video on the things that need to be in a skin care routine.
You also don't necessarily need serums! cleansing, sunscreen and moisturizer are the bare minimum if you want the most minimal routine :)
Well if you’re in your 20s then yeah, but mature skin needs a little bit more, retinol and ceramides at least
@@yulyalim5178 nah im in my 20s and i didn't always have the best habits so i have scarring and huge pours in my t-zone. Also if I go too long without serums my skin just doesn't look as good. It's clean but the texture starts to worsen and I have more breakouts
@@Adrienaline-Rushed-Art oh yeah for sure, I just wanted to note that sometimes bare minimum is not an option. And if one have certain skin goals, serums and toners (yes, I said it) might help with that
@@Adrienaline-Rushed-Art can i know what serum do you use
@@AFndjdj7373 Bro WHAT that is not true at all… unless you are really oily I guess?? Idk
Do I need chocolate in my diet? No. Do I want chocolate in my diet? Yes, please! Do we technically need hydrating toners, mists and facemasks? No, for sure, I agree. But do I want it? Yes, yes, yes! For me, such a big part of why I spend so much time focusing on my skincare is purely as part of nourishing my mental health well-being, and that, to me, is just as important as the benefit it will actually give to my skin.
Yes, skin care is also self care. The experience is important to me.
I love that you like taking care of your skin! To me skincare is almost a chore. I never miss a day of sunscreen ever, for the rest I'm really struggling with keeping up. At night I use a cleanser and throw on a moisturiser, in the mornings I don't even bother with the cleanser. It's water, sunscreen, go. I'm 42 and it will probably bite me in the arse soon.
@@cathrinerhardt I know it's so different for everyone. And you're already doing better than I did at 42! I only started skincare last year and I'm now 48, and before that I had hardly had a moisturiser and never touch a cleanser or any other skincare type. A hospital stay put my life into a new chapter and I discovered the joy of skincare. Completely new to it all! So I just dived in full-heartedly and got a little obsessed haha. Ultimately, I don't think we need many steps at all, and as you're using sunscreen, you're already winning. So be kind to yourself and celebrate that at least you're doing that :)
@@carpediemearth some people need these “unnecessary products”. serums don’t work for everyone, every single serum has broken me out. Toners however are extremely hydrating and great for me. Skincare is still not an exact science, things are getting recommended and then not recommended all the time. Hyram recommends slugging while lots of derma do not. We don’t know what the skin really “needs”, since everyone is different and things like air pollution, water pollution and deficiencies exist.
Good for you. He's not telling you not to use them. You are one of the people he was talking about in his disclaimer. Gosh!
I love how you give real options and don't necessarily shove your brand down everyone's throat. I love that you acknowledge outside skincare in recomendations
Totally agree with you. I used to use alot of different products before I've learned simpler- better. I've over done it so much that my skin was literally "squeaky clean" and then I've suffered with break outs, redness etc. Took me a very long time to get my skin back to " normal " . Thank you for all your help and info and recommendations 🙏🏼
Just started skincare a couple weeks ago and already seeing and feeling positive changes. Pretty much all I needed to know was info I got from this channel. Incredible grateful for the information you've been sharing.
One of my favorite videos so far! I'm 21, and have been trying to establish a skincare routine since high school, but I went into that journey without doing a lot of research and spent wayyyyyy too much money on trying different products. Hyram is teaching me so much and helping me choose products that fit my budget and actually work. I will say, right now I'm using Curology and feel like it is working, but wish I didn't have to pay so much for the subscription. I'd love to see a video about which products are the most essential/affordable, and also a video about Curology and some affordable alternatives to the medicated creams.
Yes, Hyram I would love to see a video with the product that are MOST necessary for good skin care routine. TY!
I used to be was sooo confused about skincare and 2 years back i found hyram's channel i got to know soo much from him and i have been using product he recommend and my skin has changed sooo much i am so thankful to him for educating us about skincare🤗❤️🤗
I absolutely love the idea of getting a serum and leave the toner out. So much nicer to think my routine that way. Thank you!
Yes please make a video about what we definitely need in a face care routine!!!
Completely agree on toners, however, when I have an acne flare up toner really helps (tea tree or salicylic acid toner really helps me keep the spots in check and clear my skin much faster).
For the masks - I enjoy the experience and a good clay mask helps
Face mist - I live in Dubai and it is super hot here, an spf face mist is a real life saver against heat and sun damage
Ooh I’m moving to Abu Dhabi next month - any skincare tips Much appreciated!
Also Hyram, this month in my Ipsy bag I had the option to pick your rainbow retinol serum for both of my bags and you’re damn right, I picked it twice! 😂 I’m so excited :)
Yes please do a video on what you would recommend for a day and night skin care routine. And let us know if it’s a daily or weekly event for some of the products. I always get nervous that I am doing something too little or too much. I’m such a newb!! Your videos have been so helpful ❤
I agree with you. I didn't know about the reusable cotton rounds. I think I will get a set for each of my daughters for Christmas.
So glad your back in my feed!
Omg! Yes, a video on the products you think are necessary would be great!
I based my entire skincare routine off of your advice. Now it’s one of my favorite parts of my day, and I have definitely noticed improvements. Simple is key and I am so happy with this lifestyle change! Love you and your channel!!!!!!!
I love this video because I feel the exact same way! I finally got in to see a dermatologist and I found out that I was giving myself acne because I was over sensitizing my skin by using too make products. After I switched to a gentle fragrance free cleanser, a prescribed treatment for occasional breakouts and a fragrance free moisturizer and sunscreen my skin changed completely. Although I do still love a good moisturizing mask! Makes ya feel good 🥰
I recently bought the Skinfix moisturiser and I'm so looking forward to trying it! I haven't opened it yet because I'm keeping it for the colder months. So glad you mentioned it 🤗.
I love face mists in the summertime, it helps cool down my skin. I choose one that doesn’t contain alcohol, it’s amazing for a day at the beach 😊
That's a good idea. BC of a medication I'm on, I do very poorly in the heat.
Does it contain fragrances or essential oils? If it does, it's bad for skin. Idk why people like using wasteful products like face mists. If you need to cool down go to an air conditioned room or get a fan
I started my skincare because of you hyram around a year ago. My skin is much hydrated now and my sun spots are also disappearing. ❤️ I gave 1 month of learning about my skin and I mostly watched your videos.
Thanks for watching and commenting ♥️ 👍

I’m a babe on a budget and love a simple routine. This video was SUPER helpful! Thank you! Love you and your videos!!
could you pleaseeeee do a video on black soap? bc now I’m questioning every single product I’m using on my face and that’s my favorite 🥺
Good to keep in mind that this is skin-dependent! I can forget my serums but with my dry skin you can pry my HaruHaru Wonder Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner out of my cold dead hands. I have extremely dry skin and if I only use a moisturizer with a serum I never feel as hydrated as my toner and moisturizer. I personally need the extra hydration from a toner over a serum.
I needed this video. Skin care is so overwhelming!!
It’s nice & soothing to use a toner after shaving. Not necessary, but feels good!
Love the way you explain things, great info! I love the luxuriousness of a lengthy skincare routine with oils and mists and everything but I agree a lot of it isn't necessary
I really appreciate this video!! I personally use squalene (not sure if that is an oil or serum) but I use it during the winter if I feel like my skin is a bit drier, usually after a retinol night, on top of a moisture barrier repairing moisturizer and hyaluronic acid, I would slug but I wear a cpap at night and it gets messy :') i totally love this list because it makes things so simple because theres so much skincare being promoted
Hyram toner is a layering step in the need for hydration. If you use it with a cotton ball, it whisks away anything left there even after cleansing. I do agree about the eye cream. Thank you for all your efforts
I love that you wear more colors now 💙
Ever since I've cut my regime down to just a cleanser (Cerave or the new Neutrogena Clay Balancing Cleanser), and Cerave Daytime Lotion with SPF, and my sunscreen...my cystic acne has almost gone dormant and I have far less breakouts or less aggressive breakouts!!
I'm 65 and stand by CeraVe and Ordinary serums. My skin needs a bit more help, but i learned to mix the serums with the moisturizer, has cut back on redness. My skin is really sensitive. I use Cerave wash and moisturizer with sunscreen in the summer. I also hadd another sunscreen with higher SPF number because I can burn in 10 minutes. Love CeraVe.
@@SuperDrLisa When you mix serum into a product with your hands, the serum in the moisturizer will likely be applied patchy. You'll get almost no treatment in some areas & too much treatment in other areas. You'll see better results if you put them on separately.
Love the inky list PHA toner 👌 super gentle for sensitive skin!

Truuue!! I have been on a very minimal skin care routine since my teenage years. Cleanser, sunscreen, and moisturiser now I will be adding Tretinoin to my routine and maybe upgrade my current moisturiser to a rich and thicker one to avoid irritation and dryness caused by Retin A
Yes do a long skin care routine‼️ Love your research and explanations. You mention products you use to prevent aging. Some of us are " post acne" now, maybe 50+, could you do a few videos for us also on good skin care routines 👍❤️ Thank You Hyram.
I am 14 and I do have a bit of struggle with getting rid of my acne and dark spots/discoloration/hyperpigmentation. HYRAM has given me a lot of knowledge about skin care and watching his videos has helped me find so many good products for my skim. Thanks HYRAM!
I am happy to hear that, Aslyn! Keep taking care of your skin - you'll be happy you did when you get older! Take it from a 50-year-old whom didn't have access to much skincare in her youth.
Toner is my holy grail!!! Can’t live without it. My skin gets way too cracked and dry without it and I’m a skincare junkie. Let’s not forget, a toner is essential in Korea and look at their skin! Not necessary for some but a necessity if you want even better skin.
Asian skin as everyone knows is for the most part, genetically great. Nothing to do with toner.
@@jochenstossberg5427 Not me, I didn’t have good skin,
For me I use a toner every morning once I was out and had acne for a few days bc when I was little I was diagnosed with prepubescent acne and my dermatologist gave me a skin care routine that works for me :)
Skincare isn't one size fits all. We all have to go through trial & error to see what works for us & finding a good routine usually literally takes YEARS. I'm 33 & I still haven't found the perfect skincare routine, but I have found some amazing products. I have acne too. I've been using what my derm prescribed me for the past 2 months. It's called tretinoin. It works SO good. I have almost entirely cleared up all my acne. I still always have a few pimples on my face, but I'm hoping that changes in the future when my routine gets more perfected.
I get cyntic acne still in my early 30s and have tried different toners and have found all of them not that great for my skin. Different strokes for different folks I guess, I don't feel they are needed
for dry skin I just recently tried the la Roche posay cicaplast balm because I've been seeing it online more recently and my skin is starting to get dry already from summer ending and I can say it's the best thing I've found for dry patches. I have a ton of skincare products and have a long routine usually and switch up my moisturizer every once in awhile, but between the first aid beauty wild oat hydrating toner that I've bought 3 times now and the cicaplast, I can use a lightweight moisturizer at night then spot treat with the balm and be perfectly hydrated/moisturized.
I feel like toners are important for those who have hard water in their area and are washing their face with that. So the toner comes after and gets the hard water residue off your face. My shower head has a filter but not my sink
Really? I have very dry skin & once I run out of both of my toners, I think I'm going to switch to an essence bc they're more hydrating. I'm worried about hard water though.
@@perfectfae3534 there are great “toners” for dry skin! I just feel like running a cotton round with toner on it all over your face removes the hard water residue before the rest of the routine
you should always put sunscreen on last (after the rest of your skincare routine), otherwise it won't be as effective. and if the sunscreen(s) you've tried made your skin breakout then it might be because you used one(s) that isn't suited to your skin type? and there are sunscreen sprays that you can buy to spray on your face after you do your makeup.
Gotta share my best skincare decision because honestly skincare adds up so it HAS TO be worth it. I love the Walgreens brand moisturizing skin cream. It’s currently 10.49$ for 16 oz and I feel like not enough people know about this. It’s the most basic and pleasant moisturizer I’ve ever tried and I’ve been through MANY! Now that my moisturizer is basic and does it’s job, my other products actually work and my skin looks so much more healthy. Great under sunscreen and makeup too!
I'd recommend the CeraVe PM facial moisturizing lotion which has more beneficial ingredients
Thank you, Hyram! I feel better about the things I DON’T use. Nothing you listed is included in my skincare, and I’m thankful for that. I’m 47, and look like I’m in my low 30’s. When people find out how old I am, they’re shocked! I have used the same moisturizer (with SPF) since I was 12. Since it still works for me, I’m sticking with it!
which one do you use?
This video is spot on. If you are already using them, more power to you. If not, you don't have to have them. Love your work! Blessings! 🥰
Thank you so much for this video I needed this!!💞💞always helping us🥹🥹🫶🏼
great video!!!! so informative. and yes please make the what stuff you DO need video!
I'm a skincare nerd/esthetician, but I literally have many days where i do the bare minimum because i am lazy; so i just cleanse/spf at day, cleanse/moisturize at night. i just use the gold bond pure moisture lotion for both face and body. it saves money and lessens the amount of products to have in my cabinet, esp since that lotion has many ingredients i look for in serums/toners, like niacinamide, ceramides, etc. it's nice to keep things simple!
The Ordinary is my skincare saving grace! Mom and wife on a budget, I'm always reaching for The Ordinary!
One thing I can’t live without is peace out dots - I love these things for the one or two blemishes that just appear and isn’t a full on breakout.
I have a night time eye cream but I find that I wake up with dry eyes almost, which is really strange so I think have to not use them every night. I don’t have eye drops so maybe I’m doing something wrong.

Can't be more agreed to this one! OMG you literally just shared the thoughts I had for so long! Face mask , face oils and toners really really dispensable!
I use that fresh toner almost everyday and my skin loves it
Really loving your necklace!!!
Please make one explaining what we absolutely need. I bought a whole lineup of cerave products to get my skin together and they are working… just not as good as I would like. I need a basic skin routine that can help with my excema on my face and keep me looking glowy!
Love this. Agreed. I get sucked into buying unnecessary products sometimes and it needs to stop. Sticking to the necessary basics is definitely the way to go. If you have the money to try a bunch of products, great. But it's important to acknowledge that you can achieve results with 3 or 4 products that are effective for you.

a fun thing I like to do during the late summer is just having a small glass mist bottle in the fridge (reused from an old product) and I get the same lush cold hydrating feeling as if I bought something!
Love the content and the shirt. Looks amazing!!
I actually enjoy my toner. Its the black rice one from Haru Haru.i also enjoy a mask every now and then but yeah I agree w you for the most part.
I like it too! When you buy from Stylevana the price is also pretty good
Your shirt is AMAZING 💕
I live in Arizona and I have a humidifier by my bed but a few hours into the day I was dried out again. I tried countless moisturizers and couldn’t find anything that truly worked in our climate. Skinfix is the first thing that I ever found that really fixes the dryness. I’ve been using it for a year or so, and I don’t plan on ever using anything else. It’s not cheap but you also get a lot of bang for your buck with that stuff.
Drink more water. Apply moisturizer to damp skin. Drink even more water,
I've been waiting for a video like this for a while
My skin was so jacked up so I cut everything out and Hyram helped so much to rebuild it and now my skin in beautiful
Great video, thanks for posting!
I use Witch Hazel! Kind of meant to be a toner, but I generally use it to quick clean after addressing pimples, and also use it after washing and when I need a quick clean up. They make wipes with it. You have to get one that is purely witch hazel and a medium product though. Like, water and whatnots. No parfum or rose oil or hazel with any other thing added in.
Witch Hazel is so so drying
@@Fierclyfabulous If you are not oily skinned, and use it in high volumes.
I use one of those silicon chicken cutlet blending sponges for my serum and toners to be even MORE economical and keep my product from being absorbed into my hands. They work great, and I use like 1/4 of the product I would otherwise.
You have No idea how happy I was to see Face mask is in This list!! Recently I was also thinking about if i should add them in my skincare but felt like it was Unnecessary cuz im treating my acne and sometimes small breakouts with other stuff that are Hyram approved and.... but Thank goodness cuz Hyram approval gives me huge confident boost😂😂 nah im skipping facemask then lol
Only people who didn't come from Tiktok are worthy of liking this 🏆

*COMMENT OF THE MONTH*
Detest TikTok. 😡
I don't care about TikTok but anyone can enjoy and like Hyram's videos.
I'm completely like you when it comes to face mask. I used to use it at least once a week but now I haven't used one in more than a month perhaps, although I still have a few of them in my cabinet. I prefer sleeping mask though, which I sometimes use as a moisturizer.
Just happened to find you. Love your energy! Looking forward to watching you. Thank you 😊
I love the skinfix 3xpeptide cream as well. Even more so though, I love LOVE the pyunkang yul calming barrier cream & it's $10. I really love their whole line & they're worth checking out! I'd love to see content on the brand to hear what you think : ) The consistency of the calming barrier cream is similar to that of Peter Thomas Roth's water drench! It really is an excellent moisturizer.
!
Omg please make a video on products we NEED
Have you tried the beauty of josen sheet mask? It’s so good! And the ingredients are amazing 🤩
I love how every item you mentioned is a part of my routine(minus the disposable rounds. I have reusable). Buuut, I’m not the person this video is made for. I love my extras!!! Lol I do know they are extras though, definitely not necessary.
I actually only use an eye cream cuz dry skin type but very millia prone on the eyes. I never buy expensive eye creams though.
I also only buy face masks that are the wash off or sheet masks in a box(30 masks-one container). I try to watch waste even though I’m extra.
Love the video and I definitely agree with all of this if someone is looking for a minimal routine with just the must haves.
Full review of Byoma pls!!!!
I literally saved a ton of stress and money just having these questions answered. Also people remember a skincare that works for another may not be necessary for you. I have sensitive oily skin and I found using so many products made me look bright red and irritated. That went away once I stopped over using several products and stuck to basic gentle cleanser, simple moisturizer not too thick and a oil free mineral sunscreen.

hyram, the reason slugging keeps moisture in is the same reason people use face oils... the oils seal in moisture just like petrolatum. many people just dont like the greasy feeling of petrolatum and/or it breaks them out. i absolutely hate putting vaseline on my face, so i use rosehip oil, which has the same effect for me, and prevents overnight water loss.

Thank you for your video it helped me a lot and by the way you’re so funny to watch 😊
Love you channel! Been binge watching your videos since I discovered you. Since you do a lot of research on ingredients list (thank you for doing this so we don’t have to), can you also do a video about products, while effective and popular, has cancer causing ingredients according to MDAnderson, like the PEG family (Polythylene, Polythylene Glycol, etc) and chemical ending in -eth and -oxynol. And other ingredients not part of PEG family, but can be contaminated with cancer causing ingredients. I think it’s an important discussion about safety. Thank you 🙏🏻
Watching your - and a few others' - content really helped me pare down. A 10 step routine is lovely from a ritual perspective, like unwinding after a long day, but in addition to the burden on the wallet, Y'ALL. Y'ALLLLLLL. YOU *COULD SIMPLY BE SLEEPING.* (Or catching another ep of your favorite show, walking the dog a little longer, whatever your priority is.)
Hi, personally I like to use toners for hydration because I have trouble finding a moisturizer with a lot of humectant. And for example, I use hyaluronic acid as a serum and my skin is more prone to dryness as I live in a dry environment so use a face mist during the day when I stay at home. So I think it can be useful depending the situation.

Would love to watch a "must haves" video from you Hyram :)
Please!! Share with us what you think a “basic” routine should be.
Mine is: in the mornings: cleanser, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, moisturizer and SPF. In the evenings: cleanser, Buffet, Retinol, moisturizer. Next week, I’ll start including a cocktail of lactic, glycolic, kojic and pyrubic acids maybe two or three times a week, instead of the retinol.
What do you think?
About the toner, I heard that it was used for their acidic properties to counter the effect of basique soap. Now a day soap are pH balanced so they are not so necessary. Yet our skin is acidic so a little acid boost cant be bad! I personally love a good toner
Oops I wrote this before listening to the whole section about toner loll
I have papular rosacea and it is soooo hard to find products that don't trigger it. It takes WEEKS to get over a flair up. I just turned 40, am feeling the affects of premature menopause (thanks hysterectomy), and am trying desperately to find products that will keep my skin looking and feeling nice without aggravating the rosacea situation. Thank you so much for your suggestion list, going to look into some of those and hope for the best.
As someone who cannot use hyloronic acid due to endocrine issues (I produce too much as is so adding more chaps my face) I love the salicylic and susincic acid with squalene from the ordinary
Also if no one has mentioned it … for the extra hydration while u sleep drink water. A good organic Coconut 🥥 water is really great it helps from the inside out. 😊
I love a sheet mask (I know it’s wasteful) but after a long day, cold sheet mask is a great form of self care!
