      I agree! I just have wished that I rode the Redbirds... (I still have a chance to ride on them in Manhattan and Brooklyn)
      Well, we still have the R62/As to ride on them before they go in 10 years or so...

    38:46 - West Farm projects! Still going strong today! The brown building on the left was the old trolley & bus depot which I believe was deactivated during the '80s and left abandoned. During the 70's, you could still see the old trolley tracks leading into the depot.

    • @joshbenton4080
      @joshbenton4080 2 роки тому +1

      There are lots of former trolley depots / terminals around NYC that are now bus terminals. There are at least one or two on Staten Island and one of them still has trolley tracks in the floor of the building. In addition to that, many of the old streetcar lines that are now bus routes, many of the streets still has trolley tracks below a couple of layers of blacktop. Every so often, the rails of these tracks will become visible, before the NYCDOT throws down blacktop over the rails to "hide" them for a few decades. There's even a former trolley car "barn" on Staten Island that's used for the Department of Sanitation (Built circa 1902) as a garage for the garbage trucks. You will also see trolley tracks in Williamsburg and other parts of Brooklyn as well as near Coney Island, beneath some of the elevated subway lines like the "D Train". The vibrations caused by the trains on these elevated structures and the weight of trucks and busses causes the pavement to "buckle" and exposes the rails of these old tracks.

    Back in 1985 l had rode these cars after they came on the 2 train when this new form profile looks newer but they were gone into an overhaul rebuild program to be graffiti free by 1995 R26/28/29 cars moved to the 5 train and most of the R33M cars assigned to the 2 trains! Crazy idea that high tech trains had taken over and 20 other sets of Redbird car groups could been saved for emergency uses for the 2 and 5 trains even others too!
