Crazy how Eddie Murphy is now older than James Earl Jones was in the first movie. He looks great for someone who’s almost 60 and it’s also great to see that James Earl Jones is still alive and seems healthy. Fuck the Oscars too.
[Also: I remember when Coming to America first came out, it was big deal to a lot of critics over the fact that Eddie's (main) character hardly cursed. I think that's the main reason why it played on TV more than any of his other films.]
Eddie Murphy is just himself, saw that in the Seinfeld segment and every other interview. He says honestly what he is watching as a guilty pleasure without feeling self conscious because he is a comic genius and doesn’t need to impress anyone. He is singular and is a living icon. Great interview.
It makes sense that he's an actual "humble man", being that he's not full of himself like most at his level of accomplishements. FACT: I actually wanted to have 10 kids. Got 2 and grateful...cuz, indeed...that's a lotta kids man. However, just the idea of creating so many human beings and personalities to boot...would have been an amazing experience.
Part 2 is a feminist propaganda piece instead of the sisters being happy about a new brother they hate on him because he's the rightful heir and they want the older sister to be the queen I could not make it past the first 25 minutes the wife and daughters just seemed too stuck-up and hateful and they treat the new brother and his mom like crap
How has nobody else so far from what I’ve seen in the comments not mentioned all his awards in the background; that’s the ultimate flex & he’s doing it quietly.
The standout scene for me was the tie in to Trading Places when The Dukes were still bums on the street and Akeem stops to give them the leftover cash from Semmi.
@@SweetandSaltyyy Spoiler. Yeah. They were one of his grandparents. The firm is Duke & Duke. And his name is Calvin Duke. Hahahaa. I thought that was awesome. There are so many Easter eggs to his old films

It's the best thing on the whole damn planet! *If you talk about Eddie in Shrek, this is what people recite all the time. I wonder how he got away w/saying damn in a kids movie? Coming to America is a bonafide, 5/5, Classic. So many quoteables So many jokes So many memorable characters Heart warming Well written Well acted Clever Truly one of the best comedies I've ever seen.
Right after I finished watching Coming 2 America, I thought, "I wonder if Ali got to interview the cast..." and not just anyone. The god himself, Eddie Murphy! Loved it like all your other interviews, man.
Great interview. A lot of energy and insight from Eddie here because the interviewer knows his stuff and is feeding him questions that Murphy is interested in.
The first one was so iconic that I had serious, serious doubts about the second movie. It was way better than I ever gave it credit for initially. A lot of continuity and great new additions. The cast is nucking futs.
As a dorky kid who wanted to grow up to be Rick Baker, it was lovely to see a thank you to him in the credits on the sequel. All those hours in the make up chair are appreciated! I promise!
Eddie Murphy has many cult classic movies from Harlem Nights to Nutty Professor, to Beverly Hill Cops to Norbit...Eddie Murphy is the GOAT of comedy plain and simple.

👏👏👏 perfectly said.
As Eddie Murphy ages he looks more like Charlie..

So true
Imagine Eddie Murphy telling the world that you make him laugh. What a feeling that must be.

Stop calling Coming to America a "Cult classic." It's an actual classic.
If Eddie calls it cult it’s cult
He was the star ⭐️
I can get on board with that
Tell Eddie that, he said it himself
I agree totally. However, is it possible to be both?

Ten kids. Now imagine when they all get together for a few days. That’s at least 36 meals a day plus the grand daughter.
