I have a bottle of the Cedar Ridge single barrel that I got from you, nice to see that the distillery is getting their name out there, starting to see their bottles in more stores
Just picked up the Barrell 33yr Canadian Whiskey finished in French Oak and Oso Sherri at 140 proof. It’s fantastic. The JD Coy Hill is one of the best bottles of the year. Was fortunate enough to come across eight bottles from $70-$110. Three different barrels. It will be a special bottle for several years to come. 🥃
Thank you! It was an interesting year for bourbon as a lot of craft distilleries really got some screen time but those were my favorite I bought this year and couldn’t be more happy!
Congrats on the growth of the channel, definitely some fun times had in 2024. Not gonna lie, thought you’d be less allocated in your top 5, definitely not hating, it’s your list. But we all know these bottles are good, that’s why there are lines around a building to get them. But looking forward to all the new content in 2025… Cheers
So glad to see RR15 wasn’t your number 1 like the rest of whiskey tube. That is refreshing. Not taking anything away from RR15 but everyone on UA-cam can’t possibly have to exact same palate to say it was the best.
There are apparently a couple of things regarding controversy about 13th Colony Double Oak. One is that it is sourced/contract distilled and the other is they use flavoring. The Pursuit guys broke the controversy first then an article came out on Bourbon Culture, which goes into pretty good detail.
It's always been known to be sources, it's on their website and their bottles don't say distilled by them. Could they be more transparency, sure they can, but they're not the only company that isn't. As far as the coloring goes, that's just something they made up with no proof, just their claim the whiskey can't be that dark. To me it's if you're going to throw accusations, you better have something to back it up, which they have not.
The hunting is just as exciting as the drinking and I hope to drive down from Chicago one day to shop in SC and Georgia. One reason: the stores here only stock 1792 Small Batch, while I saw more varieties in some of the stores you visited. I located a bottle of Hirsch up here that you favored...good juice. I appreciate you.
Hey Hunter I agree with the Bardstown, I got your barrel pick from a friend but have not tried it yet, I live about 25 miles from JT Meleck,, Haven't seen that 13th Colony D/O ,,, George T I have but have not opened yet ,,, JD Coy I have never seen,, From the ones I have had in 2024 Russell's 15 is the best I have had .... Thanks
I have my fair share of allocated bottles that I paid Msrp for. Majority of my bottles, are bought off the shelves and are fantastic. Allocated bottles don’t always live up to the hype, that’s why I never pay more than Msrp if I come across them.
Limestone Farms Private Stock made top 10 on many channels for 2024. Even made #2 on SLB non-allocated & #5 overall on Everyday Drinker. Hopefully youll try those samples sometime.
Was disappointed to not find a bottle of JT Meleck's at any store when I was visiting down in Louisiana with family. Guess it's on par with trying to find 13th colony double oaked and living 30 min away from them. All this crap is way too hard to find.
I’m surprised RR15 wasn’t on this list. I see you say it was #6, I haven’t had most of your list, but I do have a 131proof coy hill, but to me the RR15 is better. Coy hill is still fantastic though. Keep hunting. I’ll keep watching, and taking suggestions. Watched your video on Myrtle beach and hit most of those stores. Liquor library was the best when I was there, and got me a disco 12 after I mentioned your video (and got 2 other bottles). Loved that store.
Great list my friend! I’m glad you had an awesome year hunting and hope this year is even better…. Just let the haters hate because in that, we don’t participate! 🥃
I have to be honest… in a world where we have to list the ingredients for everything… I still don’t understand how distilleries don’t have to at least put the mash bill and any additives.
You can't add additives to bourbon so if anyone was, they can't call it bourbon and would get in a lot of trouble. As far as ingredients, there is no law stating they need to list their mashbill. But to be bourbon it has to be more than 50% corn and any other grain. Not much need to list ingredients since everyone knows what's required to go into bourbon.
you can get them if you hunt like he does. Don't get mad at someone who hunts so often when you don't. I hunted for one whole month consistently and ended up with 3 stagg at MSRP disco 12 ehtbp and jack daniesl coy hill. If you just stop thinking its impossible and start hunting you can actually find bottles.
Huh? You listed off a ton of highly allocated, discussed, and in demand bottles. Your "top" bottle only had 150 bottles in total made. It doesn't get much more allocated than that.
Umm... that whole bit at 14:09 really doesn't work when all you picked for your top 5 were hyper allocated and unicorns. I've tried pretty much all of those bottles (not the barrel) and I'll agree that the 2024 GTS, Coy Hill, and 13th DO beat out Russels 15 but I totally disagree about GTS 2023. That 2023 is just not good IMO. Also I wouldn't agree they are top 5 whiskies, for the most part. 13th Colony is my #4 or #5, too, but my Coy Hill is a top 10 at best. Toooooo many good barrels dropped this year and sadly Coy Hill didn't elevate above some of the crazy stuff out there. I'm glad I only paid $85 for mine. It drinks like special whiskey, but it's a touch boring - the profile isn't unique. It's just generic bourbon profile done extremely well.
Obviously a great list… but most of your bottles are unobtanium for most folks… I mean who is not going to put GTS, Disco 12, and 13th Col dbl oak at the top of their list? if you look at other channels like SLB, they rarely pick those level of bottles in these kind of list bc most ppl can’t appreciate it
I don't think you got "accumulated" to the 13th Colony. You might have gotten "acclimated" to it. I don't that word is quite right either, but I think its the word that's closest to the thought I think you were trying to express.
@garnetreecejones9222 It will be an annual release as per their PR, but we'll see. Honestly, I think it's lacking. Stagg Jr. Blows it out of the water at a substantially lower price point. Yes, I know Jr. is allocated and difficult to find, but it's technically only an $80-$90 bottle. In my opinion, the release of OGD 16 was better than the RR15, too. Better middle pallette and the citrus and vanilla finish is excellent, without all of the bitter oak tannins. The bitterness reminds me of some of the Makers' finished bourbons. We were drinking on it last night.
@@BeardMan01 i too love stagg, and i actually like my stagg enough that idk if it would beat/tie/lose to RR15, i need to blind them lol. but the RR15 is a fantastic bourbon, easily a top 3 even compared to some of the other heavy hitters i have. i definitely get some red fruit and alot of oak on the RR15. and i love it. value wise, msrp or secondary, i would say stagg jr is a better value for sure, but taking that cost factor out, and it's a super tough call for me at least. (also stagg msrp is like 60 unless it went up for 2025). havent had OGD16 yet, need to try that somewhere before i drop 200 ish on a bottle to know it's worth that to me
My bottle of the year was a 1980 Springbank 8yo Single Malt, followed by ‘23 GTS. Don’t care when they were released, they were the best things I drank that year
If anybody is curious Russells Reserve 15 was 6th place in our tasting / ranking
Love the list! Looking forward to the 14 yr JD. Cheer my dude
Cheers back to you! 🥃

Cheers to a great 2025

Im serious about those Cedar Ridge and JT Melick

Jdch is a banger
Your choices are awesome but the average person can't find or afford those and no Russell 15 wow.
It came in 6th in our tastings! Its so good no knock to it!
Banger bottles

WTF when did you get the Barrell 20 year? That is now my unicorn to find...
How in the world of Bourbon does a bourbon youtuber do a dry January? 🤣
For health!
I enjoy my cedar ridge
Yes! They have awesome affordable bourbon!
@@Bourbon_Hunter yes sir I got a BP for $39
Just found a barrel proof. They seem to be hard to get here. Looking forward to it.
where can a normal person get a stagg for under 300 bucks?
Exactly 1 pour out of every bottle but they are on top 5
So many great bottles this year I have my own personal top 10 but picking #1 is still hard for me to do 🤔
I'm with you there, it's tough to pick just one!
Not sure you should have included the Barrel bottle and no Russel’s 15? The JT Meleck is a banger especially the Cask Strength Store picks!
He’s simply listing HIS favourite bottles bought last year. I don’t see why he can’t choose whatever he wants?
He can most certainly do what he wants. Kinda funny that he wonders why no one’s talking about the bottle when only 300 were available lol
Russells came in 6th place and hence didn’t make the cut. The Patreon video discuses all of that
Hmmm RR 15 didn’t make the cut? Thats crazy mostly every one else had it 1 or 2
I’d love to meet up with you when you are in Columbus, OH at Middle West.
FYI the bourbon bubble is going to bust in 2025. Should be able to grab a lot more allocated bottles.
I got a copper sky 20yr 153 proof that’s amazing but only 40 bottles exist I would never put it up against GTS
Another best of review, that 99% of people can't get.

This was a list of my Top 5 bottles I got this year I’m confused what you’re so upset about?
What was so 'upset' about my comment? You just seem to enjoy hunting more than actual drinking. Have another great year of hunting and cheers!
@@PicoBourbonhunting is a huge part of the fun, and for UA-cam, what most would rather watch, I’d rather watch hunt vs him sitting there drinking.
