Are you picking up this release or saving your money for something better? Also look forward to more budget bourbons in the next video! Let us know your thoughts and what you're sipping on this week! 🥃
Jim Beam BLACK 7 is a good budget bourbon I sip. $50-$75 is the range I'm comfortable purchasing (Michter's, Rare breed, Old Forester). Still waiting for that top 6 viscus bourbon pour video 🥃🍕 Cheers.
There’s still lots of good bourbons under 30 - Larceny, Ancient Age, Evan Williams 1783, Old Forrester 100, and I’m thankful for that since 30 is about my limit 🤷♂️
Love seeing budget bourbon recommendations. I know folks love seeing blinds of the big bottles but most folks who drink bourbon would probably not be paying $150 and above for a bottle. Clearly that audience has grown but there are still many folks who just enjoy bourbon and whiskey but also want to try new bottles without breaking the bank. Videos like this are sorely needed in the YT Bourbon community. Thanks for your work!
You guys should keep a running list of bourbon and whiskey you review, then blind them every couple weeks to determine the “best performing” whiskey in blinds for your end of the year. So the winner keeps going, or top 2.
I just want to say thank you guys for what y'all are doing in the bourbon community it's just so relaxing to watch y'all I'm a huge Chattanooga whiskey fan I could be biased I'm from Chattanooga also a big early time bottle in Bond fan great video keep up the good work
Gentlemen, thank you! Thank you for covering some products that are able to be purchased by those of us with smaller budgets. Looking forward to Wednesday and the products reviewed or compared there. I enjoy a nice daily sip later in the evenings so the enjoyment is also shared with the ability to afford that sip. Once in awhile when the stars line up there is the room and ability to review products that are within $50 - $75 range, Those rare sips are reserved for special moments, moments when alone with a good tobacco blend and a pipe. Smiles...
Usually my "budget" figure is about $30 and under, but I think it's fair to say this is a new Penelope budget option given their higher average pricing. 95 proof helps the case too, a lot of budget bottles stick below that.
I knew as soon as Trenton said it smelled like custard, that he would ask what custard is. The base for your typical ice cream is a custard. Love you guys!
Saw the obsf 4 roses, but couldn't comment. I like the orange citrus in the mix. So, when I make a manhatten, I muddle a traverse city cherry in the bourbon, add bitters, vermouth and a splash of tangerine la croix . It's outstanding!
I’m looking forward to trying this if we have any around here. I really enjoy it when y’all do these more affordable reviews as I’m always looking to expand my “go tos”. I’m also looking forward to trying your Estate pick I picked up while up there over Christmas. I didn’t want to check it on the plane so I have to wait until the in-laws bring it down with them when they come for my son’s graduation in May.
Great video! Keep up the great work!! I love Penelope including the Valencia!😊 Trenton sorry but I have to disagree with you about the Valencia and Orange flavor! 😊
Show Content Idea: By State - How to search online for available whiskey. Ohio has a wonderful website with available liquor but when I travel I have a hard time finding this info. Some states (not controlled??) I have to look at each retailers website ie Texas others states I can’t find anything ie West Virginia. This should be a fun concept for an IT Guy ie Trenton. 😂 You guys are the best!!!! Thank you.
To this day $40 is usually my upper limit. I'm more willing to go beyond that these days than I used to be, but as a general rule that's my ceiling. I might see if this shows up around here. 6:56 When there's plenty of wheat it comes across to me as eucalyptus, with sometimes perhaps a little mint. I'm not sure that 16% wheat is enough to bring that out... If you like wheat, i recommend Oregon Spirit wheat whisky and bourbon (another four grain mash bill), and Redemption wheated bourbon (45% wheat 😮). 10:17 If you don't like orange, don't try Glenmorangie Scottish whisky. It definitely has an orange note, and I had to quit the one bottle I've had - the further I got into it, the more cloying the orange became.
I’d be curious to see how this compares to the Penelope White Label Four Grain. They’re both four grain, they’re both 40%, they’re both around the same price.
Really enjoy the content you guys create and the conversation, discussion and debates you bring to the table. That being said, I'd like to see a silent blind taste where neither shares what they get on nose and palate or discusses it, in order to not inadvertently affect the others thoughts on it, but write it down then after the taste verbally share and compare notes and placing.
Ezra Brooks 99 Evan Williams BiB Beam Black 7yr Old Forester 100 Turkey 101 Benchmark Single Barrel or Full Proof Old Overholt 114 or BiB OGD Bonded Kings of budget
The ABC store here in NC has Early Times BiB for about $26 750 ml. It’s got the same DSP code as OF-1897 BiB ( DSP-KY-354) which is listed as Early Times Distillery on line. It is nice!
For $40-45 you can get Makers Mark or Chattanooga Cask Strength, you can get Green River or 1792 Full Proof. Budget is different for everyone I’m sure, but I would never say that is a budget Bourbon. Wild Turkey 101, Evan Williams Bottled/Bond both you can get 1.5 lit for that. Just my thoughts/opinions🙏
@skramzy6628 I'm a painter, most white drywallers are drunks or on meth. There are a few older drywallers I've met through the years that are as put together quality men as Kurt. So keep your Karen sh.t to yourself.
Definitely thin but ok bottle. Love most Penelope and glad to see a decent wheated budget bottle Personally I will pay $10 more and get the new wheated Bardstown which is a fantastic daily pour
This has to get put in a blind with what it’s meant to compete with, like Weller SR, maybe Green River wheated, and another mid 30’s wheater Just picked this bottle up today at $35 can’t wait to crack open, wasn’t even looking for it, was going in to grab a bottle of sagamore 9 year lol
Calling $40 budget is still a stretch for me personally. Think there's still too much quality around the $30-35 range depending on location. Four Roses Small Batch, Russel Reserve 10 depending on where you look, Evan Williams BiB, the Old Grandad's, and my personal daily sipper Jim Beam Single Barrell with is only about $22 here in Lexington most places.
Green river full proof bam your done I got a bottle of this Penelope it tastes pretty good would like it at a higher proof had a little bit of a champagne taste at the end of it
Great video guys! Hopefully you can score all 4 bottles of the Four Roses single barrels ( OBSV,OBSF,OESK,OESO )coming out soon and do a video review on them.
I am certain Trenton is not a Monday person. I document his bad hair days and good hair days. ( jokes aside)Penelope at 40 is a change. Now Trenton and I have opposing taste buds. He likes Ryes.. I, have not come over to Ryes ..(yet). But, I do appreciate his input. Trenton? Grape is not a bad Bourbon flavor profile....Don't make Buffalo Trace Distillery angry. Kidding
Yeah I agree there is a difference between budget and bottom shelf. And for most of the people who are into whiskey enough to watch videos like this, I would guess $40 counts as budget.
Budget for me is Makers Mark and Willet. Currently been sipping on Blantons single barrel 126 proof. If I see Penelope in my area I will give it a try,
I heard Trent doesn’t like mustard, Ain’t too many sandwiches, hotdogs, brats or burgers I don’t put yellow mustard on, I hate places that don’t have mustard. Having said that, I have never tried Penelope, I’ll pick one up, I like wheat bourbons.
Just bought a bottle of this. My first Penelope. I really liked it. But the weird part of this "wheated" bourbon is that it's 16% wheat. But if you look at their regular one, it's 14% wheat. So just adding 2% more wheat makes it "wheated"??? I find there is too much marketing in the bourbon industry with cask strength etc, but this is a nice drink plain and simple.
The best idea for a video EVAR!!! Trenton meets Gordon Ramsay... Gives custard as a tasting note... Asks Chef Ramsay what custard is... 🤭🫣🤣🤣🤣 PS.. It's what Americans call pudding.
Haven’t seen this so Ohio must behind you in getting releases. Or we aren’t getting this at all. Who knows how those that hold the keys will distribute new releases. I know in NE Ohio we don’t see a lot of releases Columbus and other parts of the state seem to get more than we do. And I’m not driving hours to get a bottle of alcohol. So as they say location location location. Is what it is.
Price is not as important as quality of the product for me. There are few Penelope products that I have found worth their asking price. Was at Lux Row this weekend and has a sample of the Estate Lot B and was amazed anyone would pay $199 for that mid bottle.
Are you picking up this release or saving your money for something better? Also look forward to more budget bourbons in the next video! Let us know your thoughts and what you're sipping on this week! 🥃
I'm starting to see Sazarac Rye on the shelf for 25. BT juice for a great price and available.
I didn't realize it was four grain. Will definitely pick when up when I see it. Penelope hasn't missed yet on these.
Jim Beam BLACK 7 is a good budget bourbon I sip. $50-$75 is the range I'm comfortable purchasing (Michter's, Rare breed, Old Forester).
Still waiting for that top 6 viscus bourbon pour video 🥃🍕 Cheers.
I love the barrel proof Penelope. I will try the wheater.
I consider budget 15-25 bucks
2 things I really like about your channel I hope you never change...no intro montage and no endorsements within your videos. Thanks guys!!
There’s still lots of good bourbons under 30 - Larceny, Ancient Age, Evan Williams 1783, Old Forrester 100, and I’m thankful for that since 30 is about my limit 🤷♂️
OGD114 is $18 at Costco. Now that’s budget.
Love seeing budget bourbon recommendations. I know folks love seeing blinds of the big bottles but most folks who drink bourbon would probably not be paying $150 and above for a bottle. My budget is $25-$35 Am finding Old Forester (both the small and large bottle) Rye for the same price $30.99 at Total Wine now.
I pay 50 for Bardstown’s wheated, which is delicious. Excited to try this if it ever arrives.
mustard potato salad is great!!!
Possibly one interpretation of "budget" could be a bottle that is budget for that distillery in comparison to the balance of their product portfolio.
I just want to say thank you guys for what y'all are doing in the bourbon community it's just so relaxing to watch y'all I'm a huge Chattanooga whiskey fan I could be biased I'm from Chattanooga also a big early time bottle in Bond fan great video keep up the good work
Sour strip brand - mango! Soooo good!
Orange and grape are my favorite flavors!
Same!

Big fan of Penelope Definitely will be picking one up if available
Saw where a store in Wisconsin had the Penelope Wheat for $30. 🥃
Usually my "budget" figure is about $30 and under, but I think it's fair to say this is a new Penelope budget option given their higher average pricing. 95 proof helps the case too, a lot of budget bottles stick below that.
Happy Monday! Always a great way to start the week! Many cheers from Winnipeg! 🥃🥃🥃🥃
I knew as soon as Trenton said it smelled like custard, that he would ask what custard is. The base for your typical ice cream is a custard. Love you guys!
Fingers crossed for this hitting the shelves in NC!
That would be great, but if you're even a couple hours from the SC border I'd be taking a trip down there at least once a year to stock up.
@@BigChimpEnergy What are your favorite stores near the NC border? (I'm in Durham.)
It should be soon. It's on the ABC price list for $45.
@@BigChimpEnergy I'm in Charlotte so closed to border! I haven't seen it at the Fort Mill shops yet.
Custard is made with eggs and milk and sugar, usually baked.
It can also be cooked on a stove like pudding, frozen custard or pastry cream.
I just cracked mine this weekend. Very happy with it! Excited to see what yall think
I just got the Rosé cask for Xmas and really like the strawberry 🍓notes
Saw the obsf 4 roses, but couldn't comment.
I like the orange citrus in the mix.

The Penelope Toasted is wonderful.
Just picked it up at Binny’s, love it!
When the bar gets finished, I'd like to see a tour of the basement. Do a 360 view
I love this bottle, on my second one already
Was lucky to pick this up here in Florida last week. Love the price and have no complaints
I will hopefully be stopping in and picking one up from Harry tomorrow, on the way into the Crown Point office..
I’m looking forward to trying this if we have any around here. I really enjoy it when y’all do these more affordable reviews as I’m always looking to expand my “go tos”. Got one two weeks ago four 29.99$ in Wisconsin
Wonder how this compares with green river wheated?
Will definitely try a bottle
Great video! Keep up the great work!! I love Penelope including the Valencia!😊 Trenton sorry but I have to disagree with you about the Valencia and Orange flavor! 😊

Y'all need to try Ezra Brooks 99. I've found it in upstate NY, it's 25 bucks and absolutely delicious. That's budget bourbon.🥃
Ezra Brooks 99
Evan Williams BiB
Beam Black 7yr
Old Forester 100
Turkey 101
Benchmark Single Barrel or Full Proof
Old Overholt 114 or BiB
OGD Bonded
Kings of budget
@strictlydiesel8305 I've tried most of what you've listed. All delicious and all budget friendly.🥃
have never had and of their products! interesting!
Weller SR killer
Penelope Wheated is great, especially for $40. I got mine a little cheaper but still an easy purchase at msrp
I am making my own ice in a cooler since the temp went to 0°
It's crystal clear and delicious
You guys should do a “Best Beginner Whiskeys” video
How does this stack up to Green River Wheated?
The ABC store here in NC has Early Times BiB for about $26 750 ml. It’s got the same DSP code as OF-1897 BiB ( DSP-KY-354) which is listed as Early Times Distillery on line. It is nice!
Love your videos
Find myself drinking Coopers Craft 100 or Still Austin (98 proof one) have been my go-to “budget” bourbons.
I will be so sad when I can’t find any more Cooper’s craft
Happy Monday. That is some wild bed head, Trenton. 😂
This kid of mine….I just don’t know what to do with him. 🤷🏼♀️
I’m going to try this. It’s in my budget ❤
What about the new Four rioses SIB just released?
You nailed it last year with the Rebel Select Reserve. Might have to put this on the 2025 checkout list.
For $40-45 you can get Makers Mark or Chattanooga Cask Strength, you can get Green River or 1792 Full Proof. Budget is different for everyone I’m sure, but I would never say that is a budget Bourbon. Great episode guys
It was low effort and lazy
Max chewning was the guy who created sour strips. Love it as well.
Do like Penelope but not a wheater fan so I'll skip this one but $40 is about right for a pour you can really sit down and enjoy neat these days.
I’m watching every episode!😁
1:16 Normally when a guy says his expertise is in drywall and whiskey, their life is not as good or filled with family like yours 😂😂
Almost seems to show how maybe you shouldn't make quick assessments of someone based on only a couple of bits of info.
@@skramzy6628I wouldn't stereotype people if they didn't act so stereotypically.

Definitely thin but ok bottle. Love most Penelope and glad to see a decent wheated budget bottle
Personally I will pay $10 more and get the new wheated Bardstown which is a fantastic daily pour
In Milwaukee these are selling for $30-$35. Definitely a buy at $30.
This has to get put in a blind with what it’s meant to compete with, like Weller SR, maybe Green River wheated, and another mid 30’s wheater

Have you ever reviewed Peg leg porker. A great tasting bourbon

For just a little more I can get ASW Fiddler Unison- which is a banger wheated "budget" bottle.
Crème Brûlée is a custard guys !!!!
@slbdrinks how does it compare to say Makers?
Green river full proof bam your done
I got a bottle of this Penelope it tastes pretty good would like it at a higher proof had a little bit of a champagne taste at the end of it
Interesting they called this a Wheated instead of four grain
They already had an 80 proof Four Grain as a regular offering. I assume this one is a higher wheat content at a higher proof.
Custard...wasn't he at Little Big Horn?🤔🤣
Y’all should do a Stagg blind! Got the people of course
Rebel small batch finally dropped in my area last week, for $27. Now that was a "budget" bottle
Great video guys! Hopefully you can score all 4 bottles of the Four Roses single barrels ( OBSV,OBSF,OESK,OESO )coming out soon and do a video review on them.
I’d love to see a review on these

Have you gotten the new four roses SB release yet
I'm on the Hunt for the Penelope Wheated
Budget for me is Makers Mark and Willet. Currently been sipping on Blantons single barrel 126 proof. If I see Penelope in my area I will give it a try,
I love how at first you all get into the smell and then talk about mustard in potato salad 😂
No mention of the youth of the whiskey it's a four and six year blend ?
Have you guys ever reviewed Mister Sam tribute whisky?
Mustardddddddddd😂😂
I could've sworn you said Nacho filtered ha

Best budget bourbon every year is Old Grand Dad Bonded.
For me, “budget” is $30 or less. I have the Penelope 4 grain Bourbon, which I consider a “lite” whiskey. I do like the hint of malted barley flavor.
Try pickled beets in potato salad.
Let me guess,Wednesday, Four Roses new single barrels
What does SLB stand for?
Strong Like Bull...

Goin;g to watch but just gotta say the thumb isn’t to flattering 🤣🤣 always enjoy never comment 👊🏻☮👍
for me i’d see 35-60 as budget as that’s really the cheapest anything costs where i live
What percentage of Wheat does it take to call it a Wheated Bourbon?
Can’t wait to pick this up! I’d consider $40 budget, $60+ is where I start to think otherwise.
The best idea for a video EVAR!!!
Trenton meets Gordon Ramsay... Gives custard as a tasting note... Asks Chef Ramsay what custard is...
