I absolutely adore how you restore things to truly honour the object - without losing the actual heart of the piece by trying to make them look brand new and completely unblemished. You can see they have a story! And it’s so cool to see you also take on projects where you can be a bit more creative and thrown in your own designs and modifications onto them. Thanks for sharing your process!

Respect is due, because you respected the steel. Proper heat treatment so it is still a proper working tool and also the redesign to remove the flaws and imperfections of age that would have weakened it. iI it had just been that it would have been a decent restoration. The added artwork just took it to a whole new level. I love it when a heritage piece is restored to it's former use, but when that is not possible due to age deterioration, then turning it into a whole new tool with added artwork is genius level reworking. Thank you for a great video, and for giving new life to an old tool.
Agreed, he's not returning it to it's original state but making it into something better. More a recycling or remodeling of an old item into something amazing.
I just want to say thank you, Not for the work you do (which is amazing itself) but for giving me the relaxation and peace I get from your videos and how much stress it relieves from a long day of work Truly thank you.
AR is the best restoration channel in my opinion...the production makes the process seem both intelligent and easy to understand. Add to that, engaging and fun somehow, though slow moving, keeps the observers interest without flagging... I wish the guy doing them would do workshops for those interested, add competition for restoration wanna be's, and have the winner join him in his workshop and get walked through one complete restoration project... This Viking hatchet was....well..er..well..... awesome..awesomely restored...
VlaDoberman it is a little rusty. The rust is still only on the surface, hence he calls it little. It hasn’t destroyed the metal, so he just had to remove the upper layer.

Martin, my wife and I moved into a new house last Friday and every day we've been putting the house and my man cave garage in order. I came out after work, sat down with my tablet, a cigar and a cold adult malt and hops beverage and when I saw you had a new episode it was the first one I watched. You don't disappoint my Nordic friend. Where do I start? The new shape was remarkable and from one who has worked with thick metal the only way to shape and smooth it is a good file, lots of elbow grease and patience. I'm still amazed at your artistic skills by coming up with a great design for the Axe head. A thoroughly enjoyable to watch and a great looking final product. I look forward to your next episode and I hope you and yours are healthy and safe. Cheers from this old retired coot living in Tennessee.💖👍😷🍻✌
