Salomon Dancehaul Review

  • Its a free ride shape, built with a freestyle flex! The Dancehaul is a super snappy, party laps board, that's totally versatile no matter the occasion!
    Join me for an in depth review of this board, and all the tech that's going on inside it!
    I've had the pleasure of riding this board multiple times now over the latter half of the season, getting out on awesome powder days, as well as spring slush.
    No matter the conditions, this board is a great quiver killer for all mountain shredding. Its wide short shape makes it nice and nimble, and its tight turning radius allows for quick whippy turns.
    There has been a trend in the industry now for a while, to move to shorter fatter boards. There are a bunch of popular shorter wide boards on the market- including several boards that I've ridden this season. This is Salomon's attempt to tackle the category of a fat free ride board, and I've gotta say- it really grew on me.
    It's more compliant flex gives it such a large sweet spot for a huge range of skill sets, making it very easy to just jump on and go.
    Its classic edge and radius make for fluid, continuous turns, that feel buttery smooth when going edge to edge.
    Over all I was super stoked to pick this board up, and there's a tonne of value as to how well it handles multi terrain and conditions. Another stamp of approval in my books, for a great board to ride Whistler on.

    I have this board in a 152.I’m about 6’ and between 180-190lbs with size 11 boots. Fun board. Playful, nimble, it can turn and carve well, pretty solid in powder and still able to go through the park. Feels stable even with such a short length at my size. Love this board. It’s exactly what I was wanting for my one board to do it all.

      Do u think is good for beginners (First board) ? Or the profile is not simple?

    • @jacobh9014
      @jacobh9014 Рік тому +1

      @@occasionalriders1885 i think it wouldn’t be a bad first board. It’s on the softer side of a medium flex and it’s nice and nimble with the shorter length so it’s easy enough to play around on without having to manhandle it or be super precise. The wide width could be a little hard to get on edge for an absolute beginner who isn’t used to putting weight on their edges but it’s not nearly as difficult as other wide boards I’ve ridden. It would also be good because as they progress they could still ride this board and not feel like they need something better to keep up with their skill progression. It’s a solid do it all option so I personally would have liked it as my first board.

      @@occasionalriders1885 the board is mostly positive camber so it’s not a catchfree ride by any means for a beginner but I liked learning on camber because it helped me learn better edge control.

    The Salomon Dancehaul is AWESOME! Just picked one up (157) and took it out to Winter Park today. Volume shifted boards are such quiver killers. No more need to decide which board to take out. I’ll probably pick up the GNU Gremlin as well.

    • @skipskipper99

      Whats your boot size and weight? I'm looking into the 157 but don't know if I should down size. How do you like the 157 dancehual? Is the waist width to large?

    • @nacho_2434
      @nacho_2434 2 роки тому +2

      @@skipskipper99 size 12 (Thirty Two brand) boot, about 210 lbs. I think the waist width on the 157 is 269. I do not think it’s too wide at all. I as far as size, I guess it comes down to personal preference if you’re deciding to size up or down. Personally, I would not go down from the 157 I have. Another thing you’re sacrificing when you size down is waist width, I prefer as wide as possible for all my boards. I also ride a 165 (270 waist width) nidecker. But for riding in the trees I definitely prefer the 157 dancehaul. Hope this helps. I Iooked at the ride super pig and gnu gremlin as comparable boards for once I destroy my dancehaul. I’ll either pick up one of those or another dancehaul once I’m done with this one, I already had to repair a couple of deep gashes from hitting rocks.

      @@skipskipper99 oh and one more thing of you pick up this board. Not sure where you’re planning on using it, but here in Colorado, for deep powder days 1ft to almost 2ft of fresh powder, you’re gonna want to set your bindings all the way back on the board. Makes a HUGE difference. It took it out to Arapahoe Basin on a deep powder day and had the bindings set about middle of the insert packs, and wasn’t really handling too well then I made a quick adjustment at the top (always carry your snowboard tool) putting the bindings all the way back and it handled perfectly.

      @@nacho_2434 I only ride at big sky resort in montana. We get powder days just not to many. I wish we got 2ft dumps but we usually get 8inch dumps of super dry cold smoke. I'll keep that in mind though. I got a 157 dancehaul for 350. I couldn't pass up that price. I wear a 10.5 boot and ride pretty aggressive and get about 130 days. My other daily drivers are 156 harpoon and 157 proto ultra.

    • @nacho_2434
      @nacho_2434 2 роки тому +3

      @@skipskipper99 yea I got mine for something like 350, it was later in the season last winter and on sale, that’s why I got the dancehaul instead of the gremlin or the superpig. For my size I consider it my “smaller” board, but if you’re already riding boards about that size, the 157 dancehaul might become your daily driver. Well I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, have a great winter season.

    Hi Andreas Im about 86kg with size 10.5 boots and 175cm tall , I currently have this in a 152cm and notice that when getting up speed on it it gets a bit chattery , its certainly a fun play around board , I wondered whether the 157cm would be a bit more stable for me at speed ,certainly the 157 will be a jump up in width ... have you rode both the 152 and 157 and whats your thoughts if so ? , I did find the 152 alot of fun in spring messing around on small jumps and side hits , i Feel salomon could use a 155 size in this one too.

    Hey Andreas, quick question, I've got a pair of ion step ons, with standard step on bindings so will this boot binding combo be too stiff for this board and over power it or is it just a case of adjusting your riding a bit? I usually ride stiffer boards but just picked one of these up on a whim as it was going go a really cheap price.
    Also can you charge on this board?
    Cheers.
