Liquid tape or jb weld the brush plate to keep arcing from burning plate, add extra washer to armature to help prevent it smacking the endplate. Also you can tighten brush spring to keep them from bouncing off armature during high voltage spikes. Also add a ground to motor

Tightening the brush springs to much will wear them down fast tho. After i did these upgrades i could handle 96v with no probs
