I once worked for a guy like Jon, and I learnt a lot. He might be a bit hard on his drivers, but but he has the best, and makes them better. He does have a lot of respect and trust in his drivers, and he shows it when the job is done. There should be a lot more bosses like him

Owning a small trucking company in Middle Tennessee I can relate. I have military contracts moving equipment to and from Ft Campbell, Ky Arnold AFB, Ft Bragg, NC his all hands on deck is dead on. Moving 5 M1 Abrams tanks to Mobile Al to be loaded onto a ship is a job that takes 20 ppl to coordinate. And don't even start me on the permits and the cost of police escorts.

That boss is annoying. Running his mouth non stop. All he's worried about is his reputation not the workers reputation, he keeps saying his reputation. Just annoying.

But the drivers didn’t have multi millions of dollars on gear etc resting on the performance and completion of the contract. Once you understand that a failed contract can make or break a company then you are qualified to comment such garbage.

God people are so soft these days. You know why he's worried about his reputation? Because it's his reputation on the line. If it all goes wrong....who are the people paying going to blame? The owner. He shoulders all the responsibility, and possible collapse of his company if there is a mistake made. He's putting those guys in very well paid jobs. But yeah.....he's 'annoying'. Get a grip.

I know exactly what he's asking of his men. The drivers should have the answers for the route and it doesn't get more basic than that. When they do then the trust is there.

What about, having the largest contract, so gathering the teams, and all preparing together the transport, giving clear instructions, and not waiting the last minute to ask "have you done that"?
Absurd opinion. And you don't know the structure of the company. In most places, for special convoys, it's planned months in advance to check with the authorities the capacity of all infrastructure, to check everything that needs to be disassembled and reassembled on the street, and it's not the driver's job, but a planning team's job.
Large dimensions transport is a team's work, and none of it is last minute organisation.
No one must like a boss like you. Planning, organising, that's the job of a boss. Checking months and weeks in advance how the prep is going. The multi-million contract is mostly for that part. All the permits work, the organisation, the teams to assist on the transport. The transport itself is the cheapest part of the contract.

@@fabr5747 Maybe some of what you say is practical in theory BUT I think you forgot Murphie's Law, there's always going to be last minute surprises and even mistakes, and some quick decisions required to overcome it. How can anyone comment on what they don't know about behind the scenes. Also they add a bit of drama for the camera, the production might have that in their contract, to make some drama. I think these guys are legends considering the difficulty and the risk on the line.
