Thank you. I’ve been surfing for the past two weeks looking for a video that was really for beginners and countless of them say they are but they assume way too much. I was able to follow your work flow which is the first time I think I’m beginning to understand.
I may be a bit late to the party but this video was very helpful. Perfect for a beginner. As stated before in the comments- just the right level and flow for a beginner.
Hello, Thank you. I watched your video and found it helpful. But what I completely miss is how to set up the Sony a7iii and what cables to connect it to.
Nice vid Howard. The ASIAir looks like a fantastic bit of kit. I’m still faffing around with PHD2 and APT, on an old laptop, and it’s nowhere near as slick as that (although at least I don’t need to setup from scratch every night). But that ASI…. 🤔
It’s so frustrating having to set up every night! Cannot recommend the ASI enough. It’s been game changing for me in the current circumstances. It is pretty closed off tho so only works with certain gear. I would say that’s the only down side of it
Great video.. watched it after practicing on the gti for the first time last night. Polar alignment manually is much easier 😄. I gave up on it, I was just wasting a lot of time trying to get Polaris centered. Are those guiding settings specifically for the asiair ? I have asi533 and Rokinon 135, with 120 camera and guide scope. My guiding was not that good last night. Thanks 🙏🏼
Hi Howard, thanks for the video. I came to see the ASIAir Mini work with the Star Adventurer GTI. What guide scope and guide camera are you using in this setup? Thanks again!
Hello thinking about buying the ASIAIR Plus, I do have a Sony Alpha A7 with a 300mm Tamron lens, I was wondering when you setup the shots, does the program account automatically for the Processing time of the pictures ? For example on my Sony if I take 5 min exposure, I then need to wait 5 min for processing before taking another photo, does it account for that ? Or do I set the intervals manually ?
You need to turn off the internal noise reduction setting I think it’s called. You don’t want the camera to do this as it removes stars thinking it’s noise. You set the camera to bulb and the asi does the rest
@@AstroHBF Awesome, I tried taking one 30sec photo and it displays it right away :D What a difference :D One more thing I have an older Sony Alpha A7, how do I connect it to the ASIAIR Mini ? mini-usb to usb-a, or can I use sony-multi to usb-c, what cable do you use ?
Hey man great video, I'm just after buying a Williams optics zenithstar 73ed and was wondering if the gti mount would be ok with the scope and mirrorless camera? Do yoh know what weight all your gear was? Cheers
I don’t know the weight of that scope but all my gear is just less than 5KG including the camera. I have bought a second counterweight (the ioptron ones fit) and it balances fine but I’m deffo close to the limit
@@AstroHBF Cheers man, I know it's probably wiser to get a Heq5 or 3 but I really want something a little more portable. If it turns out to be a pain I'll downsize to a redcat51 or something similar. Great video too, very helpful to a beginner 👍

Ah good news! Let me know if you got any question 👍

Gotta love the asiair 😎. Nice video!
Cheers mate! I’m new to it but loving it
Looks ace fella!! Well done absolutely great effort considering the hands still healing.
Cheers buddy!
Well I knew you’d go down that bloody rabbit hole mate! Worst still you’ve provided me with a shopping list! Your image of NA nebula was sound Howard.
Haha it was just a matter of time unfortunately. Hope you are doing well mate

Thanks for the walkthrough in simple terms. Are you tracking through the sony or through your guide scope?
Tracking through the Sony? Not sure what you mean. Guiding through the guide cam and pics through the Sony
@@AstroHBF guiding* sorry. Thank you! Just trying to plan out my next purchase.
Can highly recommend the full set up I have
Great vid dude. Makes me really want to get an automated set up like that, but the wallet says absolutely not.
Cheers mate. I’m loving it. Only good thing that came out of the thumbby incident

Keep at it! I like to manually polar align first then go into the asi to fine tune it. Guiding settings are just for the asi pro or air
@@AstroHBF will give it another shot on my next try. Thanks again!
First.... *gushes with moistness
lol
Hi Howard, thanks for the video. I came to see the ASIAir Mini work with the Star Adventurer GTI. What guide scope and guide camera are you using in this setup? Thanks again!
They work great together! Zwo 120mm camera and the FLO Astro essentials 50mm guide scope👍

@simonpower6591 I think the redcat might be too heavy also! The 72ed nice and flimsy so light 😂
@@AstroHBF I'll give it a shot anyway 👍thanks again man
Ah, i had an A7iii and didn't realise you could connect the ASIair directly to it.
It’s a fairly new addition being able to run certain Sonys 👍
