Nice! One suggestion. To play it safe immediately after polar alignment tell the scope to go to Home position before you slew to you target. Without doing this with some asiairs there have been guiding problems reported

Great company to do business with. I bought my AsiAir Plus, 120mm mini from HPS. What a game changer.

I appreciate this video to see what others do. My work flow is similar, but I always like to slew to and focus on a bright star like Vega, then return Home and do PA. That way I know I am close to PA, focus is good, mount responds, and plate solving is working.

Finally! A decent workflow with updated software, menu's. When asiair came out many reviews and tutorials. Some very good, and alot, not. Your own first tutorial was terrible. Connected to a laptop 😢? Whole point is wifi to phone/tablet. This is great. It probably will save a lot of calls to the gear experts, like I made 😊. Will be reading the text link as well. I think I'm going to by the Mini, and do a setup with my Rokinon 135, for quick swap. THANKS!

Are the calibration and aggression numbers (for guiding) in this video the default for the ASIAIR Plus? Thanks & nice video!

Sadly I don't have this. I just bought an ASI533 camera for my iOptron and EQ6 Pro mount. I do not know how to get started. A guide camera will come a little later

Thank you for the video. At 13:13 you enter the workflow menu and press the loop button. Mine is greyed out, I've tried everything I can think of, anyone have any ideas?

I was wondering what if you want to do solar photography is it going to work if you have a lunt solar scope and what camera , spacers, filters etc would you need .. I have been having trouble getting it to focus. I am using Lunt's 50mm scope with a b600 and asiair plus, zwo am5, asi174mm camera and have tried several different spacers between the b600 and the camera and just a fuzzball but the eypiece that came with the scope works great. Im at a loss.. :( If I can't get it to image I will probably send it all back ....

Excellent video. That's why I buy my astro stuff from HPS. I recently bought a Skywatcher Esprit ED 100 triplet. I am using a ZWO 183MC Pro camera. The images I get from it are ok, but not a lot better than a Redcat 51 I have or a Vespera Vanois. Is the camera not a good match? Or maybe my gain setting too low? Any idea where I can look for this info? ZWO isn't great at support., Much thanks.

Will the ASIAIR Plus work with a Skywatcher GOTO DOB Synscan, and be able to do platesolving and alignment?

I'm new to considering getting an ASI air. Currently I use a celestron AVX GoTo equatorial mount with a starsense plate solve setup, run through CPWI for the mount, NINA, and PHD2, (all PC) but all the cables etc are driving me nutty. Am I wrong in thinking the ASI air takes care of all of this? Does it control the mount and the GoTo?

Great guide....thanks. Wondering how you were able to manually focus given that you have an EAF attached?

You might have missed it, but he said he had no EAF attached.

You missed focusing your guide camera.

That’s a huge hole in the workflow. I just got my asiair and it seems you need to select the guide camera as the main camera and use whatever focussing technique- I tried looping previews, video, and eventually focussing mode - am trying to figure this out myself.

In the Guide Scope Focal Length mine says "Fill in Main Scope Focal Length". Is that correct?

  • @piedmontwildlifeandoutdoors

Okay so I bought the ASIAIR Plus from you guys, got the device, I've got a box that has four cables with all the same connections and one different cable. You know if you're going to do an ultimate guide you might want to try starting from scratch and saying this is what's in the box this plugs into here and here, and apparently you don't get a power cord with this unit. So I can't do a workflow because I can't figure out how to plug all the crap into the unit and get the unit to run.

Hello! Powering the ASIAIR and connecting your equipment is something that is covered in detail in the ultimate written guide on our Astronomy Hub, along with information on a wide range of other menus and features. The broad scope and granularity of that is much more involved than we can cover in one of our videos, and so we did need to direct the focus of this video; however we appreciate your feedback on possibly covering some of those topics on the channel!

@@highpointscientific awesome that would be cool. I watched some other videos that gave me a clue on the 12-volt 5 amp and ended up going to Amazon. Love shopping at highpoint Scientific. Thanks.
