Some unsolicited advice from someone who is about to turn 40 soon - enjoy every minute! Life goes by fast. I wasted my 30s depressed over my broken engagement at 29. The dream I had for my potential husband, kids, white picket fence, etc. all disappeared and I couldn't see the blessing in disguise. I'm grateful that relationship ended, to make room for something better to come in. And I'm a better person now for going through it. Makes us stronger. 💪
Dont feel rushed to get married and start a family. If that's what you want for your life one day. You didn't mention or seem worried about any this, but I know that's how I felt at your age and I would've settled with the wrong person. Freeze your eggs if you'd like peace of mind!

Happy Birthday, Mell! I'm turning 35 this year, and one thing I've learned is a method for when I'm feeling upset or angry with a situation. I ask myself, "Is this going to affect my life 5 years from now?". If the answer is no, and in most cases it is, then I allow myself 5 minutes to have whatever feelings I want to have. When the 5 minutes over, it's time to move on. Hope you had an amazing 27th birthday!

In my 62 years on Earth, I’ve learned that there is really Nothing Good or Bad we go through! Everything is a Lesson, and once you learned to find the Blessings in the Hard Times, you’ve beaten half of Life! So look for those Blessings in every Lesson!
As somebody who also turned 27 this year I definitely feel different. I feel like I'm finally becoming myself. I understand, I learn, I keep growing. When you become stagnant is when you loose. I had big life changes during my 23rd year of life. I left someone I thought I wanted a life with, decided no and picked up my life. Moved in with my parents, continued school and decided to be single and do what I wanted for myself. Being alone for that time let me reflect, understand how somethings just need to come to an end and move on. I hope your time single brings you joy and understanding of yourself. When I wasn't looking for somebody, an old classmate, my now fiancé slide into my DM's so you never know! lol Happy Birthday Beautiful!
The only thing I would really disagree with is making goals like “trying to stay single for a year” if you feel like you need to be single for a while, there is nothing wrong with that but putting a specific time to those kinds of things can be limiting. If you don’t want to go on dates and actively search someone that’s fine! The “one” might just come for you and it can be at any time. Another piece of advice I would give is you can choose who you love. I have seen girls who date the worst men over and over again because they “love “ them as if they couldn’t avoid it whatsoever and they get their hearts broken every time. You can fall in love with just about anybody and you can become attracted to almost anyone over time, so pick wisely. Attraction is not all there is in a relationship and looks fade over time. Pick a good person who treats you well and makes your life stable, and your love will grow over time. Pick a man who is terrible for you but you fell hard for quickly due to attraction and your love will only fade over time.
