I would use half the milk or twice the eggs to get a more custardy and puffy French Toast. This looked a bit soggy. A thicker bread would help also. I would also switch the cayenne for 1/4 tsp of cardamom or 1 Tblsp of poppy seed. That is just me. Everyone needs to do you.
Just ran into this and love how you guys make it so easy to have delicious. What type of bread do you prefer to use? Is this the sweet and spicy version the red pepper I don't use as much.
Thank you! I am going to try and do this with my grandaughter. She is just the right age now to enjoy learning and helping, then YUM ! " try this, Grampa!"
Ummm….I’ll have to pass on this one! I like my French Toast with a little bit of crunch on the outside. Especially around the edges. This looks too soggy for me. I do like the addition of the Cayenne Pepper. 😄
I was nearly rollin' when you said you haven't been the same since your son started driving to school. I feel your pain, I remember getting anxious when I was watching my take his drivers test in my car, without me in it, lol. I do loves me some French toast.
Bring The Deen's back to, THE Food Network!!!! We need them now, great comfy food..They don't make her good food on, Food Network!!! I don't watch it anymore, until you bring them on!!!!! The show's on Food Network, is nothing like this great easy food!!!!! It's all terrible..... Their family is the best!!!!!!! 💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍❤❤❤....
Love this recipe already!!!!!. but I think I would leave out the seasoning pepper. and I have Dave's thick bread 🥪 in my freezer, gonna make this for breakfast 🥣 when I get up to.day with sausage patties and orange juice.
I will pass on this recipe, as I prefer the outside crispy -- looks too soggy for me, and I would not use cayenne pepper. Maple syrup is the best. Love Jamie, why isn't Mama making videos lately? Gotta get some Paula time in for her fans! Blessings to all.
Ahhhhhhh ha ha haaa ! My granddaughter just passed her test, got insured and bought an old car in the last 3 days - haven’t slept a wink since !!!! 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
Do you think your family will love Jamie's baked french toast recipe?
Hell yeah! If people don't like that, something is seriously wrong with them! 💖 Love y'all!!

Actually butter and brown sugar is technically butterscotch, not caramel. 😊

Cayenne pepper in the morning? No thanks. Also, too soggy. To each his own.
King Syrup was our favorite in my family, my Dad's favorite and nothing else.
