Worth more to be honest ,I own a phantom X9 and it’s the best club I’ve ever had.
The craftsmanship is amazing and makes me feel that is is worth the price easily.
I guarantee it will last a lifetime of looked after too.

Thanks for the comments. The X9 is a really interesting mallet, being similar in shape to the X5, which is very popular, but with the middle section filled in. Very high MOI, and as you wrote, if you take care of it, the club will be solid for a decade, easily.

A lot of people were waiting for something like the Newport 2+. Scotty and I talked at length about it at the PGA Show in January. Here's a link to that video - ua-cam.com/video/8nJXg8gjO_s/v-deo.html.

Ever since I bought this putter I haven’t missed a single putt.. just amazing! This totally disproves the “Its the Indian, not the arrow” theory! Pay to win baby!

Like you said they are timeless. When you fall in love with a putter there is no need to change, and having a piece of art in your bag is also nice.

      Jacky,
I hope you enjoy it. As I said in the video, a putter like this, if it is custom fit to match your swing, can be a great club for years, so if you got a good deal on one, that's even better! Picked up Newport 2.5+ Super Select for this season, and it feels better than my Odyssey, and the hot streaks are more sustainable feeling with the feedback/feeling.

Excellent content. I bought a Titleist Bullseye Wide Blade in 1991 or '92. ($50 USD)
I finally replaced It in 2018 - so 25+ years in the Bag - with a 2018 SC Select Newport 2.5
Fitted and compared head to head with a '16 2.5 - Left at 34", Standard Loft, Standard 15 gram weights, Lie Flattened 2° ($350 USD)
I removed the Black Paint from the Sightline - Too BOLD - and had a Red Sight Dot stamped into the Topline.
Currently gripped with a Golf Pride Pro Only RED Star Cord, since the Black Mid Matador Grip was all wrong for me.
I'm 5 years in and I see no need whatsoever to look for Anything else. 😉

Got a used Evnroll ER1.2 at PGA Superstore for $160. 35 inches. With a SuperStroke Pistol 2.0. Couldn’t imagine a better feeling blade putter.

Evenroll has been a brand on the rise in the putter space for a few years and makes an excellent product. The ER1 shape will never go out of style.

I tried out over 100 putters when I selected my Callaway blade putter in the mid 90's. I used it until a couple of years ago (I still have it, but it's not in my bag). I picked up an Odyssey Stroke Lab blade putter for a deal, that I was pleased with, until I found the Ping PLD Anser (blacked out), I fell in love with that putter. I don't care for many of the Scotty's (although I've found a few that I like, and I got 2 that I don't game, after I got the PLD). I didn't have fitting for the PLD, but I tried it out numerous times before getting it. Is there something out there that might suit me better, maybe, but my PLD and I are getting along great.

So my Ping Zing 2 from 1992 is obsolete? I juat put a fresh wrap of electrical tape around my ball claw on the end.

It was rumored that this year's lineup would have a dark finish and no cherry bombs. If they would have been like that I would have purchased one. Still it's a good putter. I just want something with a less cluttered design - no cherry bombs and a small font on face.

    • @DavidDusek
      @DavidDusek  Рік тому +2

I understand what you’re saying about the font of the Scotty Cameron logo on the front, it is definitely gotten bigger over time. However, the cherry bomb design on the back is not going anywhere. You cannot see them when you address the ball and hit a putt and in the Super Select, the circles are silver instead of red, but that is a subtle as they are ever going to be. Sawing you want a Scotty Cameron putter without the cherry bombs on the back is like saying you want a Ferrari without a dancing horse medallion on the hood.

@@DavidDusek Speith, Scheffler, etc. None of them have this blight on the back of their blades. No sweat - I picked up a clean black PLD with black shaft and tri-sole. Plenty of boutique manufacturers are building the clean putters Scotty won't as well.

Man math at its finest. Surely the idea of golf is to use clubs as least as possible and would pay a hefty price for clubs that would guarantee that. New Scotty Super Select owner here btw so not trolling and fully supportive of this logic.

I look at it being similar to the advice my father gave me about shoes. He said that if you buy cheap shoes they look bad when you walk out of the store and they don’t get any better as they get older, but well-made shoes (which usually cost more) look great when they’re new and will keep looking great if you take care of them.

I'd say resale value should factor in for comparison. A 5 yr old SC holds its value. Your $600 driver is worth maybe $50😂
