    I am definitely making this. I have the Crueset, and will use it instead of the Claypot. Le Crueset keeps the rice nice and warm longer! Thank you.

    I loooooove bao zai fan! You could said I’m a bao zai fan fan 😝 😝
    The weather has turned cold and this is exactly what I want to warm me up.
    Thanks for that cool hack, Ah Pa. It really takes some Kung fu to get the rice just right. I never have a good crust. I think I can get it crispy on the bottom using this method of cooking everything separate and layering up at the end.

      Normal sausages can be used too, if u cannot get chinese sausage

    Ah Pa since you have an enamel cast iron pot I'd like to find out from you if it's possible to use metal spoons, ladle, etc on the pot?

      Not advisable

      Metal utensils will eventually damage the enamel and ruin the pot. Use wood or silicone utensils.

    Apa lah, what do you do with the fried shallots? Surely they are not chucked out. I know what I would do with it. Why don't you tell us.

    Thanks for sharing. However, do you have proper utensils to use for cooking, stir frying. I feel that it will be more appropriate to use the right utensil then just using a spoon to do stir frying. Just my thoughts.

    Your claypot rice is not black enuf. Since you are adding caramelised black sauce which is already sweet, do u need to add sugar???

      Put ur rice into a container, add usual amount of water, then put into a steamer and steam 15mins.

    Ah pa, can u please use the spatula instead of a spoon 😄, observed this in most of yr videos... otherwise the angmos may think we Chinese use spoons n dont know anything abt spatulas for stir-frying like they use forks to eat rice! 😅 And.. they don't learn to use spoons to stir-fry... possible burns n not to start bad habits 😉

      There is no specific rules that a spatula must be used. If u are a cook you use what is convenient n light. As long as the food taste good who cares what is used. I prefer spoons like Ah Pa n use it all the time.

    This is a fake claypot dish. You are not supposed to fully cook your chicken ahead of time. When the rice is about ready on the stove top, you pour in the chicken mixture to cook with the rice at the last stage on the stove top to let the liquid simmered in the rice. Your claypot is just a serving container.

      Steaming rice only takes 15 mins, so i only will use rice cooker when i am cooking for many ppl, which rice cooker will usually takes 40mind

      Most cooks use spoon - why? Because it's easy n convenient. I use spoon all the time. There is no rules that spatula is a must!

      raymond kong usually they will add the raw salted fish and let it steamed till cooked in the pot together with the rive
