  • US China relations are at its worst in modern history, how did the two countries get to this point? Understand the historical forces driving the conflict - from China’s Century of Shame to the slow decay of deindustrialisation in the US. Further adding to tensions is China’s perspective that US meddled in Hong Kong’s internal politics, and the American perspective that China is in part to blame for the coronavirus pandemic. After 4 years of escalating conflict under a Trump administration, what will Biden’s approach to China be?

As an Asian European who has lived in three continents and studied in SG, I've met the typical racist douchebags but what I can't stand are xenophobic Asians who look down on other Asians and don't have a clue what it is to be one in a Western country. Who do you truly think will be there for you and your children in 10, 50, 100 years? In what situation are they now compared to any Asian country?
In Spain, we are deep into our third Covid wave, the worst since it started and it's because people do not follow rules and are allowed to protest against masks and vaccine. The government is too busy in-fighting and caring about their political gain.

America did it to itself. They forced the world to trade in Dollars, and therefore the world needs to earn those Dollars by trading goods to America. America pays with an unlimited number of checks that will never be cashed. So their debt grows endlessly. Until the time comes when the checks WILL be cashed.

I don't see why so many people are calling patriotic education "brainwashing" when Americans, who consider themselves the global leader in democracy, have elementary and secondary schools that host flag-raising ceremonies weekly and ask children to pledge daily. It's technically optional, but as far as my experiences go (trust me, I've been to a lot of schools), teachers never really told us that we had the other option. And even when my friends and I found out about it, people stared at us strangely and in a way shamed us for sitting through pledges... Similar double standards are found in the aftermath of the Hongkong riots. Yes, they say it's for democracy and human rights (I don't really agree, so we'll agree to disagree), but it's undeniable that they were causing chaos and violence. I'm sure those rioters at the White House truly believed that they were somehow "defending their country from political manipulation" or whatever else justifications they had, but they were considered terrorists regardless. I'm not saying the rioters were mal-intended but law enforcement is not based solely on intentions but also on results. So, what you were thinking when you caused such chaos and violence doesn't matter. You have every right to hold your own political view, and the government cannot prosecute you for it, but once you break a law you go to jail. Once you start breaking into government buildings you're a terrorist. It's as simple as that.

Loving your country is great but it can also be very dangerous love can turn to nationalism and nationalism into fascism where you look to an old map seeing what your Nation once was and forcefully seizing those pieces of Land back Taiwan is a great example where the mainland demand for it to rejoin even tho Taiwan and a over whelming amount of citizens do not want this. this is ignored by Chinese nationalists as the believe Taiwan is a rogue province whilst they ignore the Xinjiang concentration camps and crack down on Hong Kong's civil rights which was not allowed under a signed international agreement with the UK. American nationalism is quite bad as well but the key difference is America does not hide it's history there are also some key difference whilst China forcefully expand America more vias for global power through politics and agreements and barely fails to meet treaty obligations unlike China
      (2) Detroit had much more than just a car industry building consumer and house hold product but the main reason for Americans being mad towards China is the collapse of the American dream where if you work hard you would get what is earned to support a family and a stable life when China joined the WTO Americans with this outlook didn't stand a chance as the Chinese would work for far cheaper because anything past dirt poor was enough for a Chinese person in the late 1980s so when the jobs moved the people of Detroit's stable jobs collapsed leaving most destitute

The Americans do the same in their primary schools~ the kids have to sing national anthem, salute to their flag and cite their Constitution every morning, and it is not considered patriotic education? Is it not indoctrination? They even systematically teach racism in school~ look out for Jane Elliot videos on systematic racist indoctrination in US...
Singapore does the same thing (singing national anthem and cite the Pledge) from primary to secondary schools too... What's wrong with that? Why is it that when it is done by China it is indoctrination?

    • @-caesarian-6078

American Student here. We do recite the pledge of allegiance every morning, every classroom has an American flag in it of some type and we stand up, hold our hands over our hearts, and recite the pledge. In elementary and middle school everyone is expected to say it, but by highschool most just stand silently and listen to the announcer say the anthem instead. The words really mean nothing to us and we kind of loathe having to say it. If the government was going for indoctrination, it is the worst attempt I can think of.
Besides, as Megan mentioned, we pledge allegiance to our constitution and country in principle: "the republic", "with liberty and justice for all" (both direct quotes from the pledge). It would be unthinkable to pledge to one political party or one person.

    • @chilliwatski

Which part of the oath/pledge mention "party" and whatsoever? Only relevant "party" members need to pledge allegiance to the relevant "party", ordinary people just need to pledge allegiance to the country! Isn't that common sense? Or have you guys been brainwashed or fed with lies? According to your logic, the whole population of China are communist party members?

    Let me understand one thing:
The Americans blame China for stealing jobs, but was the USA that helped China to get into WTO, and was the industries that wanted to move to China, because of the cheap labor.
What this have to do with China if your industries wanted to gain more cash and your government helped to do??

    • @ronquan5382
      @ronquan5382 2 роки тому

Asuki.....you are absolutely correct. As an American, I recall the days back in the 60's and 70's when the USA was known for its manufacturing. However, if one recalls, we had very strong unions in many of our large industries. The role of unions was to always protect and advocate for the workers and that they did with continuous proposals for increased wages, cost of living increases, expanded medical insurance coverage for not only the workiers but for members of their families, more vacation and illness allowances with pay, retirement pensions, etc.. And workers who had been in the industries for many years were demanding up to $30-$50 dollars an hour, not to mention overtime pay of time and 1/2.
These were all great benefits for private companies as well as governmental ones. So, when the US-China "cold war" ended in the early 80's and China was willing to offer cheap labor for factories opened in China, the US CEO's and many US manufacturing leaders calculated how much labor and employee costs would be saved by transferring over to china its the manufacturing processes. . Concurrently, US manufacturers eventually looked at China and thought....."what if we could get the Chinese to purchase our products" and that also drove them to support closing out factories here in the US and transferring it to China and take advantage of inexpensive, no benefits required, Chinese labor. Profit, profit, profit......drove them to look to the east !!
Little did they know that with the Chinese mindset, eager beavers to create their own success stories, many worked in the Chinese factories with the low pay......but, they learned the American manufacturing process as well as how to manufacture specific American products. They would then leave the company and with capital possibly provided by the Chinese government, would open up their own factories and produce the same products that the Americans were producing but, sell them at much cheaper prices. This theft of technology laid the basis for the creation of a huge Chinese millionaire population. This became one methodology used by the Chinese that resulted in the story of China's growing economic miracle.

4:56 was very emotional for me I used to raise flag in elementary. All people should love and protect their country when invaded by foreign power. I think sometimes humanity just need a common goal for all the people in the world. Abolish world hunger, establish equality and sustainability for future generations. Anything else should come second to those goals. Educate youth to resist greed and embrace virtues of respect and mutual tolerance. Everyone should work for keeping the Earth sustainable and available for the future. Donate to charities volunteer for the old and weak who has noone to take care of them. Who knows maybe someday we might even get a visit from the outerworld beings and when that time comes it would benefit us to be united and peaceful. Humor me the idea of extraterrestrials knowing our existence and choosing to wait for us to become united as one before making first contact. Nobody wants to introduce themselves when two people are busy fighting each other. Good video btw.

Opening your economy and globalization is definitely beneficial. America since shifting businesses and manufacturing into China has made more money than before, not less. The problem however is that moving businesses overseas means loss of jobs locally, and the big companies making money overseas refuse to invest the money into local market and society, heck, they even tried to dodge taxes. Apple alone dodge over 100 billion dollars in taxes, and the next 500 American companies operating overseas collectively dodged over 500 billion dollars in taxes. This is the problem with capitalism, the money goes to the top 1-10%. The socialist mechanism of taxes, social welfare, common infrastructures etc has broken down in America.
