That PS1 probably didn't work because it is a SCPH-1001 model The north American launch model That model suffered a lot with laser problems because in those earlier models the laser was on the left side of the console near the power supply, so when the PSU was on it was generating a lot of heat and actually deformed the plastic rail of the laser. In the later model the laser was moved to the right. Fun fact, if you power on one of those consoles upside down it might work
people had them upside down when using to help with it. i have seen a video where someone had a fan blowing onto the console itself while upside down to help with the heat issues.
8:21 Oh man, that boy was recording himself watching Regular Show on Cartoon Network in 2014! So nostalgic! I used to watch a lot of Cartoon Network back in the late 2000s/early 2010s when I was young.
Ordered your Nintendo DS and Luigi's Mansion recently, and the nostalgia of being able to get these after so many years, it feels honestly beautiful, like I hope your channel explodes in popularity and you can fund all sorts of dives, but at the same time I don't want deals like the ones you offer to get sniped xD
5:35 it's been a minute since I've seen that particular PS1 model. I remember those particular versions had issues with the disc drive. If I remember right that particular model had plastic disc drive rails instead of metal ones. Which would wear out due to being plastic & supposedly the heat from the power supply helping speed up the process. Which I guess explains why they moved the disc drive in later models. I remember people that had that particular console. They would flip it upside down just to get the thing to work.
Jake, bro, my wife just bought me a PS2 for my birthday and I have everything I need to game…except a memory card. I have been looking everywhere and they are eluding me. Much love bro ❤
I was mortified when I saw the back of it. I had many 3ds as a kid, so did my siblings, and I've never seen such a battered 3ds before. I'm almost impressed 💀
even mine isn't that bad and i have the original box for it too. i didn't get as a collector but i got it because i wanted to play games. i was a kid when i first got it and knew better. gotta wonder what lead to the one in the video to stop working. even my dsi is in much better condition than the 3ds in the video. both my 3ds and dsi were prevously owned by kids and i got them as a kid.
Ps2 expansion bay was where I'd hide things as a teenager. No one ever expected there to be a blank cavity inside your Playstation, much less a space for a hard drive and a network adapter back in 2000-2001.
Not everyone buys Nintendo for Mario and Zelda! I never did and I am now getting rid of all my Pokémon games as well, going with Digimon and Dragon Quest instead!
The ps3 sounds like the drive ribbon is old. Thats the crunchy sound. The ps2 needs the laser adjusted. Make a line across where you calibrate it and this is your guide. Turn it 16th of a turn a few times to the left, if after 4 tiny turns (1/4 turn) no better... Set the line back to center now try the other way. Boom. Done.
Did you know blue ps2 games are CD-ROM based and the silver DVD-ROM based. There are 2 potentiometers on the laser system wich regulate the laser modes power. That might be why sometimes it reads one format better than the other. You got Lucky on the ps1 version though its the audiophile version. If you get the laser workimg you're golden😁
PS1s were known to have issues with the lasers, especially the early models - the laser mechanism was near the internal PSU, which gave off heat, so the laser became out of alignment.
Odds are a blown fuse is the culprit on that none functional DS. Could be many things including a bad battery but most common is the fuse. They have more than one. One affects power up if the unit while a separate one is for charging.
"I do not recommend blowing on them 'cause it'll make 'em worse"... smh. Out of the 1000's of cartridge games I've had that didn't work, 99.8% of them were fixable with a little bit of spittle and a q-tip or a hot steamy misty blow. Must be from a parallel universe.
17:05 that's from dirt and dust, as someone who owns a small Collection of Gameboys being a Color, GBA, and a rare GBA SP ASG-101, it happens on all of my Gameboys where I have to clean off the Contacts before I play them if i haven't played them in months.
I think the quest 2 might be ok, often after some inactivity on the quest they send a verification code, or maybe the user deactivated the account through FB, or maybe even the user got banned. Regardless you should be able to factory reset it, pretty much hold down the power button and a menu pulls up. even if it actually does have issues you can sell a single controller on ebay for $50-60 plus ship. That fact is amazing to me because the whole system with controllers sells quite often for 120. I even noticed a few auctions where it went as low as 90. you could literally make a profit by just parting it out, crazy.
If you ever have a PS2 that won't read blue discs take masking or painters tape and put 3 layers around the center of the disc. This saved me a few times getting those games to work.
It's funny how all these PS2 clock batteries are always dead but my unopened ceramic white PS2 slim (original owner😎) still works fine, still have my original 8mb crystal blue memory card that I paid too much for and a crystal blue and grey controllers too (I think the original white one is still around somewhere but needs repair)
im sorry, but how do you call a META QUEST 2 A OCULUS RIFT? As a proud owner, they look nothing alike, and are easy to spot out. But I also make vr videos sooo
Ive given clothes to goodwill before. All they do is set items in a room and put them out when theres space. If its worth money, they sell the item. I dont think they go through any items unless they are interesting in buying for themselves.
OMG seeing the Fat PS2 brought me back memories from back in 2008 i believe my father bought the fat PS2 from a yard sale. We played it a lot until we stopped playing it, so we got rid of it. But back in 2023 i found a slim PS2 and i bought it for memories.
I guess the SNES Mini is the one more expensive. Thinking about these cute consoles, I always think it's sad that Nintendo opted to not make a N64 Mini.
The Game Gear also has a Contrast slider (just like the original Game Boy), maybe check that and see if that makes the screen visible, because it did kinda look like something was happening.
couple things ...please stop yoinking the carts out while a console is still on.. these arent like modern consoles like the switch where you can do that (though even the switch warns you against doing it when the game is booted) also that xbox console needs to be opened and have the clock capacitor removed asap.. wondering if the disc drive error is related to the capacitor doing damage to the board already
one year i put a ton of christmas money in the expansion bay of my ps2 and completely forgot about it for years lmao so one day you might actually find something in there.
Sometimes on the PlayStation 1 it's not the laser that has gone bad sometimes it's just the spindle sometimes the spindle makes contact with the disc and it will not let the disc spin

Remember that dirty Wii that had a memory card filled with some "interesting" stuff on Jacob's "Texas Load" series?
OG xbox menu was so glorious
Agreed
I also liked "Blades" menu for XBox 360. It looked way cooler than modern "tiles" menu.
lowkey it had hella aura
It spooked me as a kid tbh 😩 but now that I'm older it hits me more in the nostalgia than I ever thought it would

Higher means worse. It's wack
